Uncle Waffles is a South African DJ/producer described by Billboard as the “princess of amapiano” — a South African subgenre of dance music. Waffles’ meteoric rise has taken her from South Africa’s DJing circuit to earning a cosign from Drake and becoming the first amapiano artist to perform at Coachella. Uncle Waffles (born Lungelihle Zwane) rose to prominence not only for her DJing skills, but for the hypnotic dance moves she showcased in a viral clip from October 2021 (which turned her into a trending topic on Twitter). In March 2022, Waffles released her first single, “Tanzania (feat. Tony Duardo, Sino Msolo and Boibizza),” a No. 1 hit in South Africa that Waffles included on her 2022 debut EP Red Dragon. “Tanzania” was also ranked No. 1 on Rolling Stone’s list of the Top 40 Best Afropop Songs of 2022. In March 2023, Waffles released her second EP, ASYLUM, and continues to tour worldwide.

    Lovely Waffles Performance.

    It was so good. Waffles performance was immense. She came really late though at midnight and only performed for an hour. That's why I give it 4 stars.

    DO NOT GO! Please save your time and money. Uncle Waffles had the nerve, gall and audacity to not come out to her own show! We were waiting for approximately 3 hours outside in the pouring rain. Doors were not opened til 9pm. Anyone who attends concerts knows doors should open at 6/7. I am extremely disappointed since I loved her work but I cannot bear to listen to her again after this abomination of a show. I can't wait to dispute this transaction with my bank in the morning.

    Amaarae made it worth it

    Uncle waffles didn’t show up and we didn’t find out till the show started. 🙄 The only reason I still went was for Amaarae and she was amazing. Definitely want to see just her live again!

    The headliner (Uncle Waffles) did not show up, and the second main act (Amaarae) performed at 11:40pm, for an event that was supposed to start at 8pm, and she only performed for around 25 minutes. Doors were meant to open at 8pm but didn’t open until 9:10. They left us standing in the line outside, despite the heavy rain that was pouring. Overall a 3/10 experience.

    Dallas’ own Lex and Answer set the tone and made the entrance of Uncle Waffles worthwhile! Wished their set was a bit longer! Overall, great show. Uncle Waffles is a great entertainer.

    She came out so late. Wasn’t really worth the wait. I’m talking 3 1/2 hours late. And performed for 45 mins. Not worth it.

    This was the first time at the event space and the first time I saw Uncle Waffles. I ENJOYED MYSELF IMMENSELY! Uncle Waffles is beautiful and immensely talented! I cannot wait to attend another event with Uncle Waffles!
