THEE OH SEES IN CONCERT:

San Francisco psych rock outfit Thee Oh Sees has been blowing minds with their kaleidoscopic sound and freaky-fun performances since their formation in 1997. At their live shows the band's '60s-inspired guitar riffs, swirling vocals, and charging drums make for a truly transformative experience, treating concertgoers to a psychedelic blast from the past without any need for a time machine. Whether they're rocking out to the infectiously catchy "Robber Barons" or reveling in the fuzzed-out bliss of "Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster", Thee Oh Sees always treat fans to an electric and unforgettable concert experience of hallucinatory proportions.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Thee Oh Sees first took shape in 1997 as the experimental home recording project of San Francisco-based songwriter John Dwyer. Working solo under the moniker Orinoka Crash Suite, Dwyer appeared on several compilations before releasing three full-length albums -- simply titled 1, 2, and 3 -- in the early '00s. Around the middle of the decade the project evolved from Dwyers solo outlet to a full-fledged band as percussionist Patrick Mullins and vocalist/keyboardist Brigid Dawson joined the fray. The trio renamed themselves The Oh Sees and made their debut in 2006 with the album Cool Death of Island Raiders. They followed up in 2007 with Sucks Blood, which boasted a more garage rock-influenced sound thanks to the addition of bassist Petey Dammit. After adding an "e" to their name the quartet made their debut as Thee Oh Sees in 2008 with the album The Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In, a critically acclaimed release that showcased an increasingly psychedelic sound and ushered in a period of intense creativity for the band. The ever-prolific group released seven albums over the next five years including 2014's Drop, another critically acclaimed slice of psychedelia that the band supported with a string of US tour dates. Electrifying performers with an eccentric sound, Thee Oh Sees continue to conjure up the consciousness-expanding sounds of musical eras past on their unforgettable tours.

Great show. I love that this amazing, one-of-a-kind band have made their run at Warsaw an annual tradition. The performances by Osees and their opener, DMBQ, were intense and mindblowing and the energy from the stage rippled through the crowd as the moshpit expanded to fill the ballroom. Shout out to the security team who were truly looking out for people's safety, especially the guys at the front who passed out water bottles to thirsty fans about halfway through the headline set. Those people are the ones who make Warsaw one of NYC's best venues.

  • Loud, aggressive, and great!

7/17/25 Osees at the Teragram Ballroom. Led by John Dwyer, this powerhouse L.A. area band (via San Francisco) has been on my radar since hearing about them and their live shows. With a two-drummer attack they unleashed nearly 2 hours of pounding punk and garage rock. There was plenty of moshing and crowd surfing from this sold out crowd and we held our ground on the rail as the place went nuts all around us. It really is a huge sound coming from these guys with drums front and center. But John Dwyer was the focus, punishing his pedal board all night and drenching his guitar with sweat as he wrenched tunes out of it all night. Opener was supposed to be the band Total Shutdown, but due to illness we got only Nate Denver who played some dark and humorous tunes.

Incredible show! Osees (and Upchuk) blew the roof off of The Warsaw. Insane fun, dancing and crowd surfing. Can’t wait to see them again. The Warsaw always delivers as one of the best venues in Brooklyn and beyond! ❤️🙌

  • Show and venue

by xelahot on 10/28/24Warsaw - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

The show was awesome! Upchuck were a great pick too! I drove from Montreal to see both. The drinks were way too expensive at the venue thought. No wonder they were preventing re-entry. I won't be going to this venue ever again.

When you get a band like this coming to very small venues(like we have here in Tucson) it is a really special experience. Having seen many bands in my 67 years, this show with my son ranks up there
