The Irish are coming! The Irish are coming! Northern Irish dance-punk trio Two Door Cinema Club have stormed the urban scene with their fresh indie new-wave sound. Think of them as your ticket to catchy dance music without the guilt.
If you've been to any cool-kid parties with plenty of PBR or watched a Microsoft Outlook commercial you've heard Two Door Cinema Club. The debut single "Something Good Can Work" was originally released in 2009 on a trend-setting compilation from fashion house/record label Maison Kitsunè. If you can't remember it catch it on Youtube (it has nearly 15 million views).
Following in the footsteps of French dance-pop phenomena Phoenix and '80s icon Duran Duran, Two Door Cinema Club recorded their debut 2010 album Tourist History at Eastcote Studios in London. Mixed by Phillip Zdar, his vision was to punch up the beat with rich bass and foot-stomping rhythm. While on tour with Alt-J, Chvrches, Peace and St Lucia, stopping a venues like Fillmore (Philadelphia), their live sets turned into impromptu dance parties, not even the most passive fans couldn't resist the groove.
Their sophomore album Beacon, produced by Jacknife Lee was released in September 2012 and reached No. 17 on the U.S. Billboard 200 with singles" Sleep Alone" and "Sun." Well thought hooks, good beats, and fearless when it comes to having fun, Two Door Cinema Club is going to have many honorary members wanting to join in.
The venue was great, the atmosphere was fantastic and the concert was just perfect. One of the best concerts I've been too. Nothing crazy at all. It was just a really good time
Both performances were spectacular. Venue was clean and well staffed, everyone I interacted with was very kind and helpful. The only problem I had was with the stage lights for the main show, which I don't think is within the venue's control anyway. Anyone with photosensitive epilepsy would have been absolutely screwed by the flashing and extremely bright lights.
This isn't the first time I've seen Joywave or Two Door Cinema Club, but these guys never disappoint!
While The Anthem is not one of my favorite venues due to few places to view the stage in its entirety, Two Door Cinema Club was amazing and the sounds in the venue rocks as well. Overall, great experience and this venue does offer an excellent selection of food compared to similar type of venue.
Excellent show. Both Joywave and Two Door Cinema Club were high energy and really got the crowd into it. Such good music, loved the show. The only detraction was The Anthem's stair lights. I understand that the lights have to be on for safety. But they were BLINDING bright, and shone into our faces. The motion sensors were set so that any slight movement - like dancing - would turn them on. Put blinkers on them or something so they light up the stairs, not the patrons. Next time, I'll get a seat in the middle of the row instead.
Two Door Cinema Club and Joywave each put on a great show, playing all of their best songs.
Two Door Cinema Club is a great band with so many incredible songs, but they have one major flaw at live shows: They play nearly NONE of their songs from recent albums. The only songs from the past 3 albums they play live are the singles, and not even all of those. Keep on Smiling, their most recent album, which I believe is the album this tour is for, had only 2 songs played live (Four if you count messenger AD/HD, but those are barely songs, they're more like breaks). I do enjoy Tourist History so much, but they have so many great songs that will seemingly never see the light of day. I would love to hear songs like Disappearer, Millionaire, Won't Do Nothing, Already Gone, and so many others live. But instead of playing their new material, they've stuck with playing 10 out of 12 songs from their first album that released 14 years ago. Unfortunately this also effects the band it seems, because their energy is so mundane when playing the songs off of Tourist History, and then sometimes worse when playing the newer songs. Other than that wall of text, they're pretty good live if you like Tourist History.
Band was great. Better than they are on record. Reminded me of The Wombats when they went to town. Played a lot of old songs. Happy to have finally seen them. Their lights were constantly strobing. I thought I was going to have a seizure. I had to keep looking away for that reason. Normally bands do not do strobe lights as frequently as that.
Philly 2/26 show at the Fillmore. This fulfilled a childhood dream for me. So magical to experience a huge band at a small venue, thank you to the other concert goers for being as excited as I was to see them 💖
Unbelievable!! Both bands brought it at light speed! It was amazing! Such a great atmosphere and sooo much talent on stage. Very grateful to see them at an awesome venue, knowing full well they could have sold out a much bigger space. The place was packed and we had an unforgettable time. Going across country to see them again in Denver in May; they are that good!! Don't miss it!!
The show it self was awesome. But it ended at 10:30 which was lame. And it was beyond crowded. I could barely see or move
I have loved this band since 2012 and it was their first time coming to my state so of course I had to get tickets. When I tell you my 2012 tumblr girl was resurrected during this show. They played so many of their classic bangers that I absolutely lost my mind to. The only thing I didn’t super love were the strobe lights. They were a bit much especially since I was standing directly in front of one. I would suggest removing them for future dates so people aren’t getting constantly blinded by lights or getting a headache. Especially light sensitive people! Overall, it was a great show. Two door cinema club will always have a place in my heart!
This band sounds exactly like they do on spotify in person. they had a great environment and played a lot of everyone’s favorite songs. met some awesome people. highly recommend
Loved everything about this concert. Met some cool people, band played a lot of my favorite songs. Fun atmosphere. Would see them again.
Not only were the drinks great, the view from the VIP balcony was amazing! I completely recommend getting VIP seats when going to this venue. Two Door Cinema Club rocks!!!
We flew from Canada to LA to see Two Door Cinema Club at the Palladium. This band did not disappoint, amazing show, fantastic venue.
Loved the band. Venue is classic. sound was great. But the lighting was over the top. Way too much strobe lighting. Not sure they warned people about strobes, but it was very heavy. Had a great time though. Glad I was not allergic to strobe lights.
& it was amazing. Love TDCC! The place looked really elegant!
This was probably the 14th time I've seen Two Door, and they're STILL bringing it. Super high energy, great mix of old and new tracks. Always an amazing time! 5 stars.
Went to have a good time, left with a fun dancing mood
