About

Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

  • Not what I expected

by Sally on 10/14/25Rating: 2 out of 5

I don’t know what was going on that night but the sound system was off and the hits didn’t sound much like the original versions. We left a bit disappointed but still had some fun. I saw videos of other concerts in Austin hours before this one and they sounded way better.

  • A Peak Behind the Creativity

    by Steiner09er on 10/9/25Emo's Austin - AustinRating: 2 out of 5

I came to this concert to relive the 2010's where I had Gossamer, Manners, and the Chunk of Change EP stuck in my head for a decade. But, this show was really a look behind the brain of lead singer Michael Angelakos and less of a tribute to the spiritual experience that is live music. While he played all the hits, the theme of the show was the audience talking amongst themselves while the band played on synths until they found the iconic sounds known in the audience. The audience would then join in for the song, and zone out after clapping. Sometimes they were quicker than others, but iconic songs like Sleepyhead were completely drowned out by the tuning/feedback oscillations that they distort into the song. As a critic/escapist, the show was not so good, but I can see a true nerd or a musician that is influenced by Passion Pit loving it. The venue is also not my favorite. Besides the parking that has torn me away from many-a-concerts, the sterile box of a room that Emo's is just never feels good, the bar is too expensive, and the bands never seem to vibe with the audience. This one is going in my bin of "ahh well I tried Emo's again, and they ruined another band for me"so that I don't have to think about it for another year or so. (Sorry Passion Pit, Caroline Rose, Animal Collective, No Name... and all the other bands that I keep making the mistake to see at Emo's!). I'll go see the next band coming to Emo's in Houston or San Antonio next time, I guess.

  • Not as advertised

by Disappointed on 6/28/25Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Concert was live recording. Songs did not sound like recorded versions. Break taken halfway through. Eating on stage. Left early.

  • Very odd experience, but some hits

by Sully on 6/21/25Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

I know this was more of an evening with event, but this was certainly bizarre. Songs that had no names and had yet to be released (or even recorded?) were the majority of the show and to be honest they all sounded the same. Some hits were played and that got people into it, but we saw so many people leaving. A lesson to take away for artists: A few new songs are cool, but it’s so hard to connect when no one has any idea what’s being played for the majority of the event.

  • Best Concert Ever

by Jennifer on 6/4/24Warsaw - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

I flew in from Dallas for one night specifically to see Passion Pit and I am so glad I did. Michael and the band put on the most amazing performance and my experience at the Warsaw could not have been better. The band's energy was fantastic, the venue felt intimate and the crowd was happy to be part of the night. Every one of my favorite songs was played and this was hands down the best concert of my life and I hope to see more of Michael and Passion Pit. Thank you for a night I will never forget!!!!

  • Great but am I getting older?

by Dhan on 5/31/24Irving Plaza Powered By Verizon 5G - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was amazing great experience from the beginning to the end, I didn’t have problem in purchase tickets or have them on the app or at the entrance, everything went smooth. But we are getting old so please if the tickets says starts at 7pm why take 2hours in start? My knees hurt by be standing up so long and I can’t afford seat ticket so please think in the old and poor and don’t take to long from the announce hour to start playing
