Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.
I love this band; and they never disappoint! Would see them any time they are in town!
Passion Pit sounded great and played their set in such great form and order to keep the crowd wanting more throughout the concert. Was disappointed that the venue didn't list the line up bands and actual time main show would start and had to sit thru new band not too interested in and could have stayed at dinner with friends longer for we really wanted to see PP only. The Filmore is top notch and such an excellent venue to experience any event. Parking was good too on such a bitterly cold night. Over all was happy just wished PP would have played longer instead of 2 start up bands but it was nice to hear new bands and really liked the second bands techno sound and voice. Hope to see PP again and again!!!!
Passion Pit sounded great and played all of the songs you'd hope to hear....dance party! Love Michael's voice...they all sounded great. Must see!
Amazing all around! Lights, set list and front man Michael lit up the evening!
I've been a long time fan and finally was able to see these guys. They did not disappoint. The sound was great and my ears didn't ring afterwards. It truly was one of the best nights I've ever had. I would see them again and again.
Love this band and the opener was a perfect fit! Passion Pit put on an awesome show! The show started right on time, which is nice, and was over by 10:30pm.
Plan on only hearing a couple songs before this concert ends. Don't waste your time or money. You're better off listening to this at home.
They are always great to see live. Loved the show and the venue!
Atlas Genius opened for Passion Pit and they were absolutely fantastic live, which had me worried Passion Pit might not meet the standard they set for the evening, but Passion Pit did. The lead vocalist was a bit pitchy in the opening songs because his earpiece had fallen out but a couple songs in, he fixed the problem and sounded fine. It's hard to sing high-pitched songs as a guy, but he rocked it and the songs sounded very similar, although he did a more acoustic version of one of the songs. The vocalist showed amazing energy onstage, swinging the mic by the cord, lifting the microphone stand, and dancing in between lines! The lights at the venue were very colorful and synced to change with the music's changes in key, and the synth mixer sounded great with the bass speakers. Everyone in the audience was singing along and feeling the great vibes Passion Pit gave that night. Outstanding performance and a very fun time indeed.
the pageant was the perfect venue for my favorite band. the sound was incredible, the performance was as well. loved it, loved them. they are incredible.
I was extremely exited to go into this concert. I have never seen Passion Pit before and I really enjoy their music. Once they came onto stage, I pretty much immediately did not like their live performances. The drums, pianos, guitars, all over powered the singers voice. I understand that the singer sings at a high pitch, but it is awful when you cannot hear a word he is saying. I hate to say it, but Passion Pit was the worst concert I have been to so far. I suggest not to see them live and just listen to their recorded songs.
there isn't a word strong enough to describe how amazing this was. Michael is so Michael ❤️
Vocals were a bit quiet, but IT WAS SO GOOD! Basically a giant dance party. Loved it.
You could not hear the lead singer. His microphone volume was too low and it ruined the concert. We left early, very disappointed.
I like passion pit a lot. However I am disappointed in the sound quality. Could barely hear vocals over bass...firekid however was awesome.
Michael and company put together a great playlist and executed it flawlessly, but as soon as he started singing, I could tell the audio was going to be a bit off. I fully expect loud bass effects/drums at a concert, however I don't expect the high-end to be so drowned out that I can barely hear the vocalist singing. I will say that in spite of this it was worth the trip, especially toward the end of the show when they played songs that were guaranteed to elicit a singalong from the crowd.
What a snore fest. Lame show by a weak performer who couldn't even make it through a normal set. Band was weak.
It was a good show. Not as hyped as I thought but ok. Venue was nice though I love the standing room in front.
First of all, the original show was cancelled, which sucks because we were really excited to go to Thompsons Point. I understand that it was due to illness, but it still sucked to get a notification the day of the show just a couple of hours before we had to leave. Second, there was never any notice that Broods would not be playing the show anymore. This was disappointing because they're the reason why we ever even bought the tickets. If we had known that they weren't playing, we would have gotten that refund The State offered to us. Instead, we drove two hours to the concert only to find some mediocre local band that had the potential to be almost good opening for Passion Pit. We decided to stay for Passion Pit as we both at one time liked the band, but hadn't listened to them in a while. We were hoping they'd be a light to this experience, but we were yet again disappointed. We only stayed for about 4 songs. As each song passed, we still had hope it would get better, but it remained the same. 4 songs is about all we could take of how they sounded live. Overall, it was just a poor experience of high hopes that just led to disappointment. Which stinks because we've gone to a lot of great shows at The State.
I have seen Passion Pit before and I have been to events at House of Blues before. Never in almost 200 performances that I have attended have I heard such awful sound quality. Who is to blame? I don't know. At the end of the day I feel it is up to the performer to ensure that adequate sound is available and their crew is properly running the show. In this case, you could barely hear the vocals. You could tell he was belting it out, but with no effect. It was like a crazy dream where you see someone performing their heart out but literally are watching a silent movie. The backing vocals and instruments were all audible. Everyone in the crowd was commenting the same. I did find a House of Blues employee and he was the most lazy, uncaring individual I have encountered. He said "sounds fine to me". I was like c'mon dude, you are around the corner, down the hall, guarding the stairs. You can't possibly comment about the audio quality or lack thereof from here. Nothing changed through the show and it barely, barely improved by the end of the concert. It was literally the worst sounding show I have ever heard. After the show everyone we encountered made the same comments. Clearly no one on staff heard the complaints or they just didn't care. Too bad.
