LOTUS IN CONCERT:

Lotus is the kind of band that thrives during live performance – they put on electrifying, highly creative shows that are, in the very apt words of ticket buyers, “euphoric” and “energizing”. The group's unique combination of roots rock and electronic beats makes for a diverse sound, and it's no surprise that their influences range from jam band greats The Grateful Dead to electronic pioneers Kraftwerk. Their self-described "jamtronica" tracks are full of funky beats, energizing rhythms, and screaming guitars that get even the most closeted dancers on their feet. Especially dazzling are their complex lighting arrangements, which create a truly unique stage atmosphere. The band keeps their shows thrillingly unpredictable with constantly varying setlists and frequent improvisation, but one thing they always deliver is a truly transcendent concert experience.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Electronic jam band Lotus formed in Indiana in 1999 while all five members were attending Goshen College. After playing local stages they made their recording debut in 2002 with the album Vibes, a compilation of live performances from the year before. A deal with Harmonized Records followed, and the band released three albums over the next three years, including 2004's Jammy-nominated Nomad. In 2006 they signed to SCI Fidelity Records and released the live double album Escaping Sargasso Sea, which was nominated for a Jammy award for Best Live Album of 2007. Over the next few years they continued to release albums at a steady rate and toured extensively in North America and Japan, typically playing around 100 shows a year. They've built much of their fanbase by word of mouth, encouraging concertgoers to record and share footage from their live shows. They've also become festival favorites, performing on stages at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Camp Bisco, Wakarusa, Rothbury, and more. In 2014 they released their eighth studio album Gilded Age, a stellar record comprised of six new rock tracks and four electronic remixes.

Great shoe, great venue, terrible night

by Synn on 5/25/23Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

A friend and I were super excited to attend one of the memorial shows Lotus had in honor of one of their drummers, may he and his son rest in peace. We were having an amazing time dancing and jumping. We were dressed for the chillier wet weather outside and we feeling pretty toasty once the whole crowd was dancing. My friend who was wearing jeans a long sleeve shirt and a sweater was especially feeling it eventually fainting due being overheating and probably a liitle dehydrated. He's a tall dude so hits the ground and I'm trying to figure out what happened. This teenage emt is immediately by ourside forcing him to get up before hes caught his bearings so he faints again at the time she decides to yell that she needs narcan stat! I have to forcibly convince her it isn't needed as she continues to try to make my friend stand up and then tries to remove him for the floor he was taken into a room from where I was immediately thrown out. I wasn't allowed in the room or go back to enjoy the show I had an "EMT" basically guarding me which included him lurking even more while I used the bathroom. While in the room my friend 100% coherent friend was berated while the "EMTs" took his blood. He had been honest with them about drinking and smoking. Eventually I was allowed to reenter the room only to be told we needed to find a "responsible adult" to be released to. According to the "EMTs" we were not sober so we weren't allowed to be in the venue but also werent allowed to just leave. It was a stressful mess. We are not from Denver and was now passed midnight we got lucky when someone finally answered. Really curious as to what they would have had us do had we not found someone. Most unprofessional "EMTs" ever. They sat their judging us and spaking about us as if we couldn't hear them. I almost lots it on them when they started talking about how much they hated the band and the "people it attracts". Great night runined by wanna be medical professionals. The teen girl, who seemed to be in charge for whatever reason, mentioned multiple times being fresh out of high school and still not having passed whatever certification was required for her position.

    AMAZING

by Em on 5/8/23XL Live - Harrisburg

This was probably the best event I've been to in a while. The music was absolutely phenomenal, the money spent went to a great cause, the crowd was so friendly and pleasant, and the venue was way better than I had expected. I drove 1.5 hours to attend and would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat.

    Best Lotus Show Ever

by Shanzilla on 4/25/23Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

I’ve seen this band around 30 times of the last decade and have loved them always. This show was absolutely something else. The love and inspiration coming from stage was beautiful and palpable. Very bittersweet to say this was the best lotus show I’ve ever seen. It was such a beautiful celebration of life and though you could feel the Greif and sadness, you could also feel the love and intention that went into every note played by the myriad of talented musicians that accompanied Lotus. So much love and light. What a beautiful send off - Rest Easy Chuck & Charley. You both will be missed and live on forever in the Lotus community.

Great experience for some really hard shows

by Angie on 4/25/23Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

I attended the benefit shows for Chuck & Charley Morris on 4/21 & 4/22. Security and staff throughout the venue were friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The shows themselves were incredible and full of beauty amongst so much sadness. Thank you for helping to make them happen
