  • Unforgettable experience.

by CSP in MD on 9/29/25Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

It was our first time at Churchill Downs. We were in town and luckily our timing coincided with September races. Churchill Downs was by far the most impressive track we have ever experienced. . The history, people and overall atmosphere made for a great day. The parking lot staff providing rides to the gate and the gate staff greeting you upon entering were appreciated. As as soon as we entered, we stopped to take it in. We were quickly approached by a helpful associate who gave us the lay of the land and quick tips. I'm glad the crowds were light so we could walk around and really pay attention to the detail, explore the gift shops and museum. We also watched most races. Moving from the paddock to the betting window to the track easily. We were able to stand right along the track to watch the action. We enjoyed the Mint Juleps while we waiting for the race to start. It was an action packed day. Of course, the horses were beautiful. We will be back!

  • Such a FUN Day!

    by Barren B&B on 9/29/25Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We had such a great time! Parking was easy, staff was friendly and helpful and the ability to get up close with the horses made our day! We even won a few dollars. Can't wait to go back!

  • Glad we went but a bit disappointed..

by Gina on 9/23/25Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

The track was basically empty. I enjoyed being there but did not need to purchase tickets ahead of time and did not need to purchase 6 seats in a clubhouse box. Plenty of seats everywhere. When I purchased tickets it looked liked so many seats were already purchased do I get pressured to buy them. In hindsight we could have bought tickets at the door and sat wherever we wanted. No one checked and if we asked someone where our seats were located they had no idea. Could have saved a bunch of money.

  • Don’t go on a Wednesday

    by Janet H on 9/28/24Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Churchill Downs was a disappointment. The grounds are beautiful, but lack of patronage meant no excitement, restaurants were closed and it was a very low key experience. Food was mediocre and the premium beer offered was “Ultra”. Nothing on tap, craft or local breweries. The plus side was that we walked around and sat it a variety of sections since it was so empty. Maybe a Saturday has some excitement?

  • very helpful and considerate staff

We had a race named for a dead friend who loved racing. It was a memorial his family loved. The guide assigned to us was kind and knowledgeable. One over imbibing friend had to be led out at the end of the day and an usher very kindly assisted her. Another friend couldn't find her car in the parking lot and a golf cart driver spent a lot of time helping. This is not the easiest group to take out in public.

  • Dystopian is an apt description

by MF on 9/18/24Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 1 out of 5

General seating let's you watch a man vomit violently into a trash can while holding a baby. It's pretty unsanitary down there. The rich stuff looks nice, and the poor stuff looks like a part of a seedy underground. A race track is a race track in my eyes. I don't care how posh you pretend to make it.

  • Typical Churchill

by Cheeks on 9/17/24Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

It was a fun day, but at $48 per person, which basically included a buffet, I thought they would have food out a little longer. Food started at 11:30 and ended at 2:30. The last race went off at 6:00. The food was ok. We just always feel like Churchill Downs is always ripping people off. We used to go for Thanksgiving, but they’ve raised the prices so much, and lowered the quality of food, just not worth it anymore. And the racing is never that great outside of Derby week. I’ll take Keeneland over Churchill any day

  • October 2023 at Churchill Downs

by Kubes on 10/3/23Churchill Downs - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We had a wonderful experience! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, food and drinks were affordable with great service! Would definitely return. The only issue we had is that the construction on Hwy 65 made the drive 2 1/2 hours instead of 35 minutes and I had not taken that into account so we missed the first 3 races. But the day was long enough, we had a blast and even won on a couple of races!
