ZZ Top Concert Schedule

ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

ZZ Top Background

ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.

Good show by the Old little band from Texas

by Ektorg72 on 4/30/24Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso Robles

ZZ Top was awesome! Day was looking good, show started on time, but with an opening act. It takes time for the staff to set up ZZ Top and suddenly started getting windy and cold. Towards the end, the fire alarm went off and the show was over.

    They've still got it

by JDV on 4/30/24Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso Robles

ZZ Top can still rip it up. Saw the band in Paso Robles. Opening act was very good but they never posted their name or introduced the name of the band. Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard still making great music. Elwood Francis took over for Dusty Hill and did a great job. Would highly recommend seeing them soon, who knows how much longer they'll tour.

    Fantastic concert

by Kent on 4/29/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley Center

I grew up in Texas in the 70s listening to ZZ Top. Great show playing nothing but hit after hit. The new bass player was able to hang in there with Billy and Frank!

    Sound system off.or venue

by K mac on 4/29/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley Center

The 1st 3 songs just sounded off. The vocals were not clear though the whole concert. Was it the sound system or the venue? Not the sound the great sound I was treated to at the OAT at SDSU in 2019.

    Only One Hour?

by Dennis on 4/29/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley Center

I was hoping it would be at least 1.5 to 2 hours of performance. The 8 pm show started late and the there was several minutes when they came back for encore performance.

    Awesome olde guy rock

by Bill K on 4/29/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley Center

Second time I've seen them. Classic fun, classic Billy. Did so many favorites, except Cheap Sunglasses. Elwood Francis stepped into Dusty Hill's shoes very admirably. The opening band was completely ignored, but were really loud to make up for their forgettableness.

    Better than I dreamed

by Nanadragon on 4/29/24Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley Center

To start, the venue is easy in and easy out with no horrible lines for drinks with appropriate amount of bars open to serve guests. The best is the prices for tickets are not gouging customers like other similar sized venues. So that just sets the mood for what was one of the greatest shows I’ve seen in a decade and, we’ve not only worked at concert venues, but have seen many monthly. Just the story of ZZ Top, playing together for 51 years as that “lil ole band from Texas” as a 3-piece with a huge sound is pretty incredible with so many iconic bands breaking up over brutal tours infested with fatigue and the self-medication of the groupies, drugs and alcohol lifestyle taking its toll, or even just creative differences. Yet in 2021, when Dusty Hill died 6 days after leaving the the tour that year, as per his request, he was replaced by Eldridge Francis who had been his guitar tech since the 90’s. While Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard are 74 years young, adding this youngster of 62 years with a punk band background, infused their stage presence with his infectious energy while maintaining that signature sound and cool stage presence, synced seamlessly with Gibbons’ movements and guitar rips. Not only was the playlist the best of the 70’s, they sounded as phenomenal as they did half a century ago. There was no being force fed new material, or long drawn out jam sessions, but that bluesy rock with mean guitar licks and hard struck rhythms, so so magnetic! As a baby boomer, I felt like I time traveled back to Balboa stadium and I was a teenager again. What more could I dare dream of from this legendary band? Not sure what is better, their sense of commitment and loyalty, or my pure joy that I didn’t miss this force of nature?
