    ZZ and Lynyrd!(Raleigh NC)

by awrootbeer712 on 9/19/23Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek - Raleigh

This was my very first time getting to see ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert. They were AMAZING! Some of the BEST guitar work you will ever hear is from these two LEGENDARY bands! ZZ Top came on first and they were awesome! I couldn’t understand some of what Sir Billy said but that’s due to whoever was in charge of the audio. But other than that they put on a GREAT show! I felt like the audience could have been a bit more enthusiastic for BOTH bands, but most people I saw were. They performed their biggest hits such as Underpressure, Give Me All Your Lovin’, I Thank You, Legs, Sharped Dressed Man, etc…they saved La Grange for their Encore. I really enjoyed them! And I recommend seeing them if you can! Next was Lynyrd! I mainly grew up listening to them with my Dad(ZZ too, but more so Lynyrd) and i was SO glad to finally get to see them! It didn’t bother me that their are no original members left(as it does some people)I’m happy they’re continuing because if they didn’t, I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to see them. They started with a video(that we could not see due to speakers being in the way, but that’s not their fault, I don’t know why the speakers had to be in front of the screen like that) but when the video was done and the voice announced “Please welcome Rock and Roll Hall of Famers LYNYRD SKYNYRD!”(the voice sounds like Trace Adkins, I’m a fan of his too) I cheered and was SO happy! (This was for my Dad as well, because they were his favorite band, and he passed in 2020, so I wanted to see them for him as well as myself, Dad! I hope you enjoyed the show too!😇) They started with Workin for MCA, and some other songs they played were I Know A Little, That Smell(which is one of my MOST favorite songs from them), Curtis Lowe(I don’t think they normally do that one, that was nice to hear), Saturday Night Special, Gimme Three Steps, Tuesday’s Gone, Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama, and of course Freebird was the Encore. I know I’m missing a few songs. They might’ve done “You Got That Right” and Skynyrd Nation(I have to go back and check my videos) but I loved at the end when they put Ronnie on the screen for Freebird(even though it was blocked by the speakers) it was a VERY nice tribute they did to him and the rest of the band members that passed. They also dedicated Tuesday’s Gone to Gary(who passed last year) You can tell they ALL respect and honor the Legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd and I hope they will continue for as long as they want too. It’s been 50 years for both bands and I hope they’ll keep it going for as long as they can! I LOVE YOU GUYS! KEEP ROCKIN’!

by Sheryl on 9/19/23Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek - Raleigh

You think as this group has been around so long they would not sound as good as when they were younger. WRONG. They rocked the house. I have seen them 5 times & it just gets better and better.
