About

Stagnation’ is not a word in the Katatonia dictionary. Since breaking through as masters of death/doom, Stockholm’s freethinkers have transcended genre, consolidating goth, shoegaze and prog into bleak, melodic songs. Now, after three decades of invention and reinvention, Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State marks another bold leap– not to mention singer, founder and lead songwriter Jonas Renkse’s most personal effort to date.

  • Sound not great

by Supertanner on 12/11/23The Masquerade - Hell - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

Not sure if their sound guy just sucks, or if Hell at the Masquerade in ATL just sucks. Sounded like a mumble fest. The guy sings soft... turn him up.

Amazing show! It was my first time at Exhoplex and I loved the venue.

  • Great Intimate Show (Glasshouse)

by Curlyheaded Headbanger on 12/3/23Echoplex - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I'm happy for the continuous progess Katatonia has displayed over the years without disbanding. The band does a great job with exploring new sounds compared to their eldest album which I still appreciate. I love the energy and harmonies of their sound, hopefully they will produce something more robust and heavier in the near future. I didn't get to see the Echoplex - sorry I worked Akon that night lol So I got to see them in Pomona. Yay I'm so happy they're touring again. I really wish I got to go to the meet and greet. They're the coolest, sweetest dudes.

  • Disappointed

    by M. B. on 11/27/22Le Studio TD - MontréalRating: 1 out of 5

Horrible sound. Too much bass. Musicians not on par. No back vocals is better than bad ones. This was my last Katatonia live show. Big fan of your studio efforts, think I'll stick to that. I'm sorry, just can't sugar-coat it.

  • Great show, great band

    by FPJ777 on 11/18/22Sony Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Katatonia was spot on! Just a great band! And the venue is nice, just not a fan of touristy Times Square. Rather be elsewhere

  • Katatonia

by Mike W. on 11/16/22Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) Capitol Room - HarrisburgRating: 4 out of 5

Great venue - Great selection if songs from their epic catalog. Mix was very muddy though. could barely hear the lead guitar.

This is a great venue to see a show. This was an amazing experience: Katatonia was awesome! The wait staff was outstanding. The sound was almost perfect.

  • Katatonia at Sony Hall

by John on 11/14/22Sony Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

One review I read on 'Bandsintown' summed it up well: The show was low energy and the sound wasn't great. For me, the drum sound was problematic, like the drums weren't tuned to what I'm used to in a Katatonia show. However, it was still Katatonia, and they're still awesome! It's early in the tour and I expect the shows will improve going forward.
