Judas Priest on Tour

British heavy metal powerhouse Judas Priest has released 22 albums over four decades. They laid much of the groundwork for the heavy music of the 80s with their two guitar attack of revved up blues-based riffs They continue to tour, treating metal fans to extravagant live shows and spirited renditions of their unmistakable anthems. Ticket holders are sure to get to a concert early because they don't want to miss Singer Rob Halford's stage entrance. He emerges from a cloud of fog riding on a Harley Davidson, clad head to toe in leather-studded S&M gear. The band released a live DVD of their Epitaph World Tour in May 2013, which well received and features 23 tracks covering most eras of the bands storied career.

Judas Priest in Concert

The group formed in 1969 in Birmingham, England and released their first album in 1974 entitled Rocka Rolla. This was soon to be followed by Sad Wings of Destiny in 1976, which gained the group a wider audience in the UK. The group's next three albums: Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Hell Bent for Leather were released in 1977, 1978 and 1979 respectively, and showed a band evolving its sound into shorter songs that still retained a heavy metal punch. Next came the album British Steel in 1980, which featured "Living After Midnight", "Breaking the Law" and "United" — all earning regular radio play. Point of Entry was released in 1981, followed by Screaming For Vengeance in 1984, which went double platinum. The 2008 concept album Nostradamus found them pushing boundaries by challenging their listeners to consider how "metal" the man of prophetic talents actually was. Over the next four years the band toured relentlessly and they show no signs of letting up, with an impressive schedule of tour dates on the books for 2014.

I haven't seen Judas Priest since the 80's so i was excited. And they did NOT disappoint. I had not heard of Sabaton, but they were very good also. The facility and staff were great.

Still Absolutely Amazing after 50 years

by Laura4N6RN on 5/15/24Ameris Bank Amphitheatre - Alpharetta

Never saw sabaton before but they were tight, smiling and very humble talking to the crowd. Priest was cranking. They also looked like they were having fun; Smiling, being inviting to crowd throughout the whole hour and 45 min of non stop rock. Oh except for the 10 min of ridiculous "echoing "by Rob.

Priest was pitchy, Sabaton killed, sound mix was not great

by PopK on 5/15/24Mobile Civic Center Arena - Mobile

The winner of this particular concert evening was Sabaton. While I could not really understand the lyrics for either band due to the poor sound mixing, the intense choruses completely filled the arena. It was so cool. I wasn't sure that they would be able to reproduce the power that they have in the studio, but they actually exceeded it in concert. Simply awesome. As for Judas Priest, it's a little hard to give a fair review. Rob can still hit all of those high notes, but everything he sang and all of the high guitar notes were so pitchy that it was an assault on the ears. They also dropped all of their biggest hits at the beginning and end of the show which led to a real lull in song quality in the middle. We were also really disappointed that they didn't play Halls of Valhalla given all of the filler tunes they dropped on us. Ultimately, it's a little hard to believe that they couldn't have done a better job with the sound given that the arena has wonderful acoustics.

    Kick ass show!!

by Metal woman on 5/15/24Mobile Civic Center Arena - Mobile

Walked into the venue and got goosebumps! Music to get you hyped was playing nice and loud. Sat in our seats and just watched all the people coming in to enjoy the night. Sabaton was the opening act. They were unbelievable. Heavy metal music played so professionally! The sound and acoustics was spot on. A short break while they tore down and set up for Judas Priest. Played Black Sabbath"Was Pigs"to get us psyched. It totally worked! The curtain dropped and Rob Halford in all his glory hit the stage. Loved every bit of the evening.
