About

Arguably one of the most unique and captivating metal bands on earth, Apocalyptica have today announced their anticipated return to Australian shores! Presented by MJR Presents, the four-piece cello outfit are returning to play the biggest rooms they have ever played in Australia.

Having previously sold out solo runs around Australia, and surprised fans on the 2015 Soundwave Festival tour, the Finnish ‘cello metal’ group will return to Australia in September, for two brand new shows at some of the country’s most prestigious halls; the brand new The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, the iconic Sydney Opera House and Melbourne’s Hamer Hall.

The Finnish, cello-driven rock opus, who changed the landscape of both heavy and classical music for years to come with the release of their 1996 album "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos", have built a reputation for incredible live shows, which consistently blurs the line between metal, classical, theatre and rock-opera. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the album, the group re-released it, remastered with 3 bonus tracks on July 22, 2016. Added to this new version were brand new / never-before-released instrumental recordings of "Battery," "Nothing Else Matters" and "Seek & Destroy."

After playing over 170 "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos" concerts in more than 40 countries, Apocalyptica went on to release seven critically acclaimed albums, selling over 6 million records worldwide.

Over the course of their career, Apocalyptica have played at venues like the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia and have brought places like the Summit in Denver to capacity.

    Great Show

by Lisa on 10/14/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

I first saw Apocalyptica in Vegas without a singer. they were great. The idea of Metallica songs being played on cellos was interesting and I was blown away - what a cool concept. I returned to see this group as my favorite singer, Franky Perez, was their frontman for the Cell-o Tour. I only wish Franky did more songs with them. Overall, great show!

    Nothing short of amazing

by Sharon on 10/8/22Liberty Hall - Lawrence

I’ve had the chance to see Apocalyptica live a couple times and it’s been an amazing show every time. People never stop singing and cheering for the band the entire concert. The band is fun and engaging and makes the fans feel seen. So, it’s a show everyone should go to at least once in their lifetime. I had the chance to get the VIP pass to meet them and they were amazingly kind. They keep proving over and over why they are one of my favorite bands❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Great concert, bad staff coordination

by EBM on 10/6/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

The place, the bands were really good, but Even I paid the parking in advance only one person was taking care of the parking, giving uncleared instructions, I almost had a car incident because the directions the staff provide to do a back up when we were in queue.

The worst concert experience of my life

    by J. B. on 10/6/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

I've been going to concerts for 50 years. First, NOWHERE in the advertisements mentioned an opening band - there were TWO...both grunge bands. Do you leally headline Lead Zep and have John Denver open for them ? Second, when you advertise that doors open at 6 and the show starts at 7, only to THEN at the venue learn that Apocalyptica comes on at TEN, there's an issue. And, of course, when I wanted to leave and get something to eat while escaping the opening bands, of course, there is no "reentry". Third - I've been to General Admission venues before (like the Canyon); and maybe it's my own fault for not vetting the venue, but this place was more like a giant Mosh Pit. (At least the canyon had a place for a hundred or so seats - this place ? MAYBE 15 seats ?) SO - how WAS Apocalyptica ? Don't know. I could not withstand a 2-hour assault on my ears (STANDING) in order to hear them. We left. Maybe I'll get to see them at some later date. I will say this: If this were a "first date", I'd never have been granted a second.

Outstanding. They never fail to impress.

by Heavy Metal CPA on 10/5/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

Awesome. I've seen them twice this year and they were great. I still can't believe they can make Cello's sound like that. And the drummer, none better in Rock. The lights, the smoke, their presence on stage. It's quite a show. Can't wait for them to tour in the LA area again.

    It was great!

by Piero on 10/4/22The Observatory North Park - San Diego

The guys put on a great show. The music was so unique, powerful and energetic. The band was interacting with the public a lot, and they were enjoying the concert as much as the audience. Great time!

    Loved the Apocalyptica concert!!

by Kerenhilem on 10/4/22The Observatory North Park - San Diego

I loved the experience, it is always surprising for me to find new bands besides the main artist, they matched perfectly. The Observatory was super well ventilated. Totally worth it.
