About

Gideon on Tour

Originally identifying as a Christian band, Gideon had a realization around 2019 that they didn't want to exclude people based on their religious beliefs, and so they abandoned their Christian roots. The Alabama band also leaned into a heavier, more hardcore sound rather than their earlier, more melodic inclinations.

Gideon released their first, self-titled EP independently in 2010 and were soon picked up by Facedown Records, a division of Strike First. Since then, they've gone on to release five full-length studio albums and another EP, charting on Billboard's top Christian Albums and Heatseekers Albums lists.

Don't miss the chance to have your face melted off when Gideon comes to a city near you.

Gideon Live in Concert

Gideon originally formed as a Christian metalcore band in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 2008 by vocalist/guitarist Daniel McCartney, guitarist Kris Gottlieb, vocalist Scooter Lee, bassist Timothy Naugher, and drummer Jake Smelley. Raised as Southern Baptists, the members of Gideon became part of the Christian hardcore scene shortly after forming.

In later years the band realized that their beliefs no longer aligned with what they'd been taught growing up and so they decided to abandon their Christian roots in 2019. Around that time, Gideon released their second EP, No Love/No One, after a series of full-length studio albums, which showcased a heavier hardcore sound. The album Out of Control followed later that year, featuring their new, hard-hitting and aggressive leanings. Gideon has also undergone several lineup changes over the years, with 2022's lineup featuring Daniel McWhorter, Tyler Riley, Jake Smelley, and Caleb DeRusha.

    The crowd ruined this show

by I hated this show on 3/18/24The Masquerade - Hell - Atlanta

I've always enjoyed Gideon live but the crowd just ruined it for me this time. Maybe it's because I'm older but I've always enjoyed metal shows and the insane pits but these guys were just hitting people with punches and kicks and it made it not enjoyable. It's always been if someone fall you pick them up. They seemed like it was their mission to hurt people.

    Great venue, better bands.

by Kasen on 3/4/23Marquis Theater - Denver

The venue offers generous food and drink for low cost. $4 flat for a slice of pizza that fits on two plates is a great bargain, let alone at the venue. Gideon and Orthodox had amazing sets and the crowd was phenomenal. Standing areas for those just there for the music, ample seating area, and a sizeable dancefloor and bar. Very impressed by the venue and bands for the cost of the tickets.

    Amazing Energy!

by Lauren T on 2/15/23The Masquerade - Purgatory - Atlanta

Gideon (and supporting bands) was the highest energy concert I’ve ever been to! The venue we went to was small & made the experience even better. If you like heavier music and don’t mind pits & stage diving, I highly recommend seeing Gideon. Left with a few bruises but it was well worth it lol!
