About

Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2009 with Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. By the summer of 2019, the trio had been on tour for nearly three-and-a-half years, playing to audiences across North and South America, Europe, and southeast Asia behind its acclaimed albums The Universe Smiles Upon You, Con Todo El Mundo, and Mordechai. Garnering glowing praise from The New York Times, W Magazine, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, The FADER, Khruangbin released their very first remix album, Mordechai Remixes, on Dead Oceans, in association with Night Time Stories, Ltd in 2021. Each remixer on Mordechai Remixes has a musical or cosmic connection to Khruangbin and remixers included Kadhja Bonet, Ginger Root, Knxwledge, Natasha Diggs, Soul Clap, Quantic, Felix Dickinson, Ron Trent, Mang Dynasty, Harvey Sutherland. Khruangbin worked with Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Leon Bridges, from Ft. Worth, for two groundbreaking collaborative EPs, Texas Sun & Texas Moon. Further extending the lone star state's sonic possibilities, the sister EPs pensively examines Texas' musical perception, while paying homage to the marriage of country and R&B that's become synonymous with the region.

by Kelly on 5/29/24Broadview Stage at SPAC - Saratoga Springs

What a beautiful show! We had a whole section of ladies vibin and dancing on the lawn, GORGEOUS night at SPAC with this band. Also GO OFF, LOGAN! Fluteman for opener was giving me everything I needed that night, what phenomenal energy from the very first note. Nothing is more beautiful than someone in their element!!

    No pit tickets!

by Andrea on 5/29/24Broadview Stage at SPAC - Saratoga Springs

The show was unbelievable! Khruaugbin was great!! I was disappointed with the ticketing process.I had a good seat but when I originally went to purchase tickets at the artist pre-sale there were no tickets for the pit. I was "in line"early for tickets and was only looking for one pit ticket. I checked back during the following days but there were still not pit tickets. Then a week before the event, I checked and there were pit tickets available for far less then I paid for my reserved seat.

We need to break up the Live Nation/TicketMaster monopoly

by Midi on 5/29/24Broadview Stage at SPAC - Saratoga Springs

Show was great. The band killed it. SPAC was beautiful as always. My only issue was with the total number of people at the show, the pavilion was grossly undersold thanks to the dynamic pricing model. Break up the monopoly.

    High Security

by Eric on 5/29/24Broadview Stage at SPAC - Saratoga Springs

Band was awesome. Love them. Staff was friendly, but entrance protocols felt like boarding a flight. A bunch of chill people trying to vibe out to some music. Couldn't bring in any bags, have to walk through metal detectors, and no re-entry if you forgot your sweater in the car. $18 beers. Oh well. Crazy times we live in.

    Great show, obstructed views

by Barbie on 5/28/24The Met Presented by Highmark - Philadelphia

Khraungbin were as great as I imagined them to be. It was my 1st time at the Met, and I was sitting in the orchestra section in the back on the ground floor and my view was obstructed, which was fine(ish) for this show, since the drummer was mostly in the shadows and I only missed a small portion of the rest, but I would have been pissed if there was more stage stuff. A warning or something would have been appreciated, but now I know.
