Queens of the Stone Age Background
Queens of the Stone Age got its start in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. Originally, the band called itself Gamma Ray. However, a German metal group already had this name, so Queens of the Stone Age was born. This name came from the nickname of Josh Homme's previous band, Kyuss. The band's musical style is influenced by many rock and metal genres, with macho and German rock styles commonly attributed to it. Later albums incorporate electronic and dance music influences. Queens of the Stone Age had their first concert in Seattle, Washington at the OK Hotel on November 20, 1997. Once they released their self-titled album Queens of the Stone Age, they started touring in 1998. They had their big break when they released their second album, Rated R, in 2000 and got the opportunity to open for Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins and other high-profile bands. An invite for Ozzfest 2000 came shortly after.
Had a great time here, they gave a great performance!
Top ten all time...Excellent show, great venue Great interaction. Band was tight and fun! Cant say enough goid about Queens. I flew out from Boise Idaho, wort evey penny! Great crowd, Great people in N Charleston! Also shout out to Royal Blood, Hella Good!
Id go everytime I could to see them again. Great band an guys. Crowd was great as well
The opener royal blood crushed their set; from start to finish. Queens of the stone age came out and it was so loud that the music was extremely distorted and difficult to discern guitars from bass and bass from drums.. wasn't until the final 45 min that someone FINALLY turned down the speakers.
Queen of the Stone Age put on an electrifying performance that left the audience in awe. From the moment they took the stage, the energy in the venue soared to new heights. Josh Homme's commanding presence was captivating, and the band's musicianship was impeccable. They flawlessly executed each song, infusing them with raw power and intensity. The guitar riffs were explosive, the drum beats thunderous, and the basslines pulsated through the crowd. Overall, Queens of the Stone Age delivered a rock-solid performance that exceeded all expectations. If you have the chance to see them live, don't hesitate—they are an absolute powerhouse on stage
Amazing show! Queens of the Stone Age and Royal Blood together! WOW - true musicians! So much fun! Didn’t want the night to end.
Saw them back in 2013 at the Fillmore South. Beach, I was waiting for a new concert and they didn't disappoint at all!! Great show, great sound and light effects! Definitely a show you need to attend!
I have probably seen over 700 shows in my life. I have loved Queens of the Stone Age since they first came on the scene but have never seen them live. For anyone who thinks that there are no real rock ‘n’ roll shows anymore you must see this band live. From the time they took the stage until the time they walked off, they lit that place on fire. Sick, sick, sick was SICK. Tight vocals, guitar and drums. As Dave Grohl said, they are the best band to see live now. Josh Homme was funny and a bad ass all at the same time. If you have a chance to see them, do it. Different set list every night!
Queens is the Stone Age is one of my favorite music groups, and I was really happy when I knew that this band was gonna play in Florida. What can I san about the event, I loved everything about it. The organization, the live sound, the overall energy. It was incredible… and the band was superb. I’ve read that QOTSA’s live energy is incredible and now I can confirm that. They rock!!
Queens of the Stone Age was by far one of my top 5 favorite concerts ever. They are true masters of their craft, with an amazing sound and infectious energy.
