About

Goo Goo Dolls, a band that rose from the punk scene in Buffalo, New York, penned several of the most definitive hits of the ’90s. Forming in 1985, the Goo Goo Dolls experimented with hard rock before landing on a winning formula that incorporated elements of acoustic and alternative rock for 1995’s A Boy Named Goo. The album yielded the band’s first Billboard 200 chart placement at No. 27 and its unlikely third single “Name” climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1998, the band vaulted to global ubiquity with “Iris,” a ballad written for the City of Angels soundtrack that later ushered in their quintuple-platinum sixth album Dizzy up the Girl. The song remained atop the former Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks, a record that stood until 2020. The Goo Goo Dolls solidified their stratospheric success with the equally catchy follow-up single “Slide,” which hit No. 8 on the Hot 100 and was certified platinum itself. In 2002, Gutterflower earned the band their highest Billboard 200 peak at No. 4, while 2006’s Let Love In added more catalog highlights like “Better Days'' and a cover of Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit.” Founding members Johnny Rzeznik and Robby Takac have toured extensively across the 2010s while maintaining a steady output of new projects, including 2019’s Miracle Pill and 2022’s self-produced Chaos in Bloom.

    Awesome Live

    by Mitch on 2/2/24

I saw Goo Goo Dolls two times last Summer and they are even better live now than they’ve ever been! I would see them if you haven’t. I hope they tour in 2024.

    Go see the Goo

by Brittany CE on 12/16/23Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park - Indianapolis

As an avid concert goer, I prefer the smaller, more intimate venues, but with the capabilities to bring the big show experience. That’s why White River Amphitheatre is a favorite place to see a favorite band! Goo Goo Dolls continue to bring us new music, but they treat every show as if it’s the first show you made it to and the last show you’ll see. So they will play the nostalgic tunes they’ve played thousands of times with the same conviction as their new hits. If you ever question whether or not to see this band, always go see the Goo!

    AWESOME SHOW!

by BA on 11/12/23Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

Band is just as fabulous live; may be better than their recordings. We finally got to a live concert together - it was worth every penny. Could tell John was ill - so dedicated - but still did awesome on vocals (thanks for not letting fans down). ..Robby still our favorite funny man (G says: still have the guitar pick you gave me at our Samsung Xmas party, thanks!).

    Exceptional performance as always!

by SweetCharade3 on 10/21/23Vetter Stone Amphitheater - Mankato

The Goo Goo Dolls bring it every single time! They have mastered musicanship, vocal chops, and crowd engagement. This band exudes the expertise of seasoned performers combined with the energy and stamina of much younger bands. While I would prefer harder, deeper cuts, their concerts thrill long-term and casual fans alike. If you're on the fence, just go!

    Amazing concert!

by KB on 10/13/23Vetter Stone Amphitheater - Mankato

What a perfect night! The concert was at the Vetter Stone Amphitheater. The weather was beautiful. Fitz and the Tantrums were the opening act. They had so much energy and l wish they could have played longer. This is the second time I have seen GGD. They played nonstop for 90 minutes. I've been a fan since 1990 and they keep getting better!

    Great evening!

by Johnny on 10/6/23Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion - Portsmouth

I've been to shows where the artist just went next, next, next goodnight everyone, and some that milled around but GGD had just the right amount of audience interaction. The set list was great they played the hits, a little new stuff and one's that made you go oh yeah I remember this. Most importantly they played like they cared. I would definitely go again.

    Most Epic Night Ever

by Caitlin on 10/5/23Maine Savings Amphitheater - Bangor

I laughed, I screamed, I cried. This was the best concert I’ve attended. The energy from GGD, and the people around me was phenomenal. My heart is happy forever. Nothing bad to say about this one!

    Awesome show!

by hypnochick on 10/5/23Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion - Portsmouth

I saw the Goo Goo dolls last year for free at the Virginia Beach oceanfront, so I was questioning whether to see them again at a paid venue. I'm glad I did. The show was even better this time at the Portsmouth Pavilion! And I seemed to really hear the lyrics of many of the songs like never before, and really found them relatable and inspiring! I couldn't believe all the guitars! I counted 38 of them sitting in racks on the side of the stage. He changed them out frequently during the concert. Never saw that before. All around, a fabulous concert!
