About

Formed in Fargo, North Dakota, the a cappella group The Blenders consists of Tim Kasper, Ryan Lance, Darren Rust and Allan Rust. The foursome first won a following playing colleges and universities in the early ‘90s, releasing their debut album, Totally Whipped, in 1993. Other highlights include the fan-favorite 1997 Christmas album Nog and the group's major-label debut Loveland in 1999, featuring the hit track "(I Am in Love With the) McDonald's Girl." The group has also found success performing on national television shows, including The Arsenio Hall Show and NBC's The Today Show. More recently, the group recorded two more Christmas albums, 2004's Holiday Best, which quickly found its way onto the Billboard charts, and 2005's Most Wonderful Time. Currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Blenders continues to write and record new music and tour the country.

  • Very entertaining!

These guys know how to put on a show for the whole family. We brought our kids ages 11 and 14 and they loved it. I also brought my 80 year old mother and she thought it was a great show. So glad we went!

  • The Blenders are a Blast!

by SoMNChick on 12/16/12Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This was our first time seeing the Blenders. They were better than we expected. Their voices are amazing and almost brought emotional tears to my eyes when they were singing Christmas songs. And tears of laughter when they were doing the 12 Days of Christmas!! Loved, loved the non-holiday music too, which was a nice surprise. My goodness -- could have listened to them for much longer than the 2 hours that they performed. Nice looking men to boot. It definitely got us in the holiday spirit!

I have enjoyed The Blenders, since their first Christmas albumn from 1997, "Nog". This was the first performance I where I saw them live. I really enjoy their a capella sound, which is very tight harmony. In the Pantages Theater, their harmony was really showcased in the great accoustics.

Very nicely done! The concert flowed very well and there were no spaces in entertainment. They do a great job to add to the Holiday Season.

This was a great Holiday concert to add to our family Christmas events. Enjoyed the evening of singing.

The show was absolutely amazing! I haven't seen the blenders perform since the state fair about 14 years ago and I was not disappointed! These guys are so amazingly talented I have already started inviting everybody I know to come to their Christmas show with me next year! I can't wait to see them again!

  • Better than the cd

The Blenders are one of the best out there in the world of acapella. They never disappoint. The production was incredible and very precise. I will never forget the look on my childrens' faces as they witnessed the "Masters" in action. Thank you Gentlemen!

We are never disappionted. We drove from Springfield, MO and were glad we made the trip. It appears that when you don't see someone for a few years you forget how talented they are. We listen to them often but seeing them in person is an event not to be missed,

  • The Blenders are the best!

by MartyTayman on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I flew from Dallas to Des Moines for the sole purpose of seeing and hearing The Blenders. As always, I was thrilled. Their tight harmonies and elegant arrangements are satisfying on every level. Their Christmas Music is almost exclusively the only music I listen to this time of year. Thank you Blenders, you have made my Christmas sunny and bright.

  • Blenders put me in the Christmas Spirit!

by JLL3 on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The Blenders put together a fabulous show. They involve the audience, share some humor, share some personal momentos, they take time to meet and greet, and they are just very good guys! Their music harmony is a God send, very blessed individuals and we are blessed that they share their gift of music each year. DSM is fortunate to have them entertain us. I would like to see more of their "older" songs, some of their soul songs in the summer at a venue outside, besides Christmas.

  • The Blenders Christmas Concert

by Folker on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a Blenders fan for the past 15 years but had never seen them in concert. That all changed on December 20 at their Des Moines show. Their vocal skills are top notch and their audience interaction was what made the concert more than a musical event. As they waled through their setlist they had the perfect mixture of holiday and non-holiday tunes. It was good to hear them sing acapella in some selections as they did in their early Christmas discs. The backup band was present but not overwhelming which was nice as I have been to other concerts where it was difficult to hear the vocalists. A favorite moment was the inclusion of a set that parodied the 60's folk movement with groups such as the Kingston Trio.Brothers four, the Limelighters and theNew Christy Minstrels. Their vocal stylings and mannerisms together with humor captured the essence of that era with spot on accuracy. A throughly enjoyable evening.

  • Blenders are like fine wine. Getting better & bet

by ThomasThomas on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

Blenders show was outstanding. With top notch choreography and flawless vocals they entertained the audience such that everyone had a Christmas 2011 season memory. The Folkers made sure that all will have a "snappy" 2012. I know we will be in line for 2012 tickets.

  • The Blenders were fantastic!!

by redsparkygal on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The Blenders Christmas concert was a fun, energetic and engaging event that really got me into the Christmas spirit! The group of four, handsome men originally from Fargo, ND, had a great blend of vocal arrangements. Selections included classic and original songs performed with guitar, piano and drum accompaniment. The second half opened in classic quirky Blender fashion with their "Folkkers" quartet parody, complete with atrocious Christmas sweaters. However, the best part of the entire evening was when The Blenders sang a cappella. Their 4-part harmony blends fluidly and creates an true musical sensation for the ears. These four, childhood friends have been together for 21 years, and it shows not only in their camaraderie, but especially through their vocal blend.

  • Great Show

by AllWrappedUp on 12/22/11Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

My adult children and son-in-law gave my husband tickets to the Blenders for his birthday, which was in October. We had to wait a long time for it to come to fruition, but we all thoroughly enjoyed it! We have gone every year for the past 10 years. We like the roominess of the Civic Center better than Hoyt Sherman. Hoyt Sherman has lots of character, but it is just too crowded and squishy in there. Wish they would have sang, "All Wrapped Up" and "Tiny Little Christmas." Was very glad to hear so much Christmas music this year. That's why we attend, and this year, you really delivered! Thanks for all your hard work.

  • Blenders are the Best!

by SigFreud on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The Blenders never disappoint. They always seem to elevate each performance. This was no exception. Although the addition of a band over the years has added dimension, the pure a capella performances are still the highlight for me. I also love the guest appearance by "The Folkers." Keep them coming back!!!

  • Always entertaining.

This is always a festive event that entertains you.

  • The Blenders - Awesome

by pbrad on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the show - always something new and then again, I love the traditional songs too. The band is good and I was not sure last year if I liked having a band because the vocals are so wonderful but it is a good thing. I appreciate that not all the songs were sang with the band. The Blenders are all so cute and funny! I look forward to going every year!

  • A not-to-miss holiday staple.

by JenjvJV on 12/22/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I go to the Blenders concert each year and it did not dissapoint in 2011! The Blenders definitely connect with their audience, are very appreciate, and put on a fantastic show. They reprised the visit of the Folkers to the show and it was lots of fun to see them again. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this show - they do a great job of putting you in the holiday spirit and are a great musical talent as well.

  • The Blenders are so talented!

We attended 4 or 5 of their concerts over the years and we forget how talented they are until we see them again. They do an excellent job every time we see them! We highly recommend them.
