About

Formed in Fargo, North Dakota, the a cappella group The Blenders consists of Tim Kasper, Ryan Lance, Darren Rust and Allan Rust. The foursome first won a following playing colleges and universities in the early ‘90s, releasing their debut album, Totally Whipped, in 1993. Other highlights include the fan-favorite 1997 Christmas album Nog and the group's major-label debut Loveland in 1999, featuring the hit track "(I Am in Love With the) McDonald's Girl." The group has also found success performing on national television shows, including The Arsenio Hall Show and NBC's The Today Show. More recently, the group recorded two more Christmas albums, 2004's Holiday Best, which quickly found its way onto the Billboard charts, and 2005's Most Wonderful Time. Currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Blenders continues to write and record new music and tour the country.

  • Love the Blenders

by linboro on 12/14/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the concert, however, the first half the band was way too loud and overpowered the singers. The best parts are when they sang acapella.....do more of that!

  • Blenderlicious!

Great concert; we love the new songs; we're thrilled that McDonalds got wise to use "I'm in love with a McDonald's girl".

We look forward to every year and The Blenders concert. They definitely know how to set the "Christmas Mood" Words cannot describe their voices, you have to hear them in person to truly appreciate the talent of this group.

  • A Holiday Treat...again!

by MNCritic on 12/13/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The guys put on a great show every year. The voices, the humor, the sound, was all to our expectations. Glad to see that made it back here for the season. Hope they decide to extend to 30 years... my only request was to hear the song "All Wrapped Up". But that wasn't a show stopper. It was great.

  • Blenders Unforgettable!

    by Kathy3752 on 12/13/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The show was so wonderful that I didn't want it to end. The singing is perfect harmony and "blend", and I already have plans to attend next year with a couple friends as I told them they have to see The Blenders! I hope they are coming back to the Pantages again! And the background stage with all the colors was so beautiful, it just enhanced the whole show.

The Blenders were awesome but our seats were poor. We have seen the Blenders several times before and WILL see them again. This year we thought we had great seats but they were NOT good!! We were in the second row of the left balcony. Due to the ledge, the people in front of us could not see the group on the stage. They were leaning forward during the whole show....therefore blocking our view. LOVE the Blenders...HATED the seats!!

Very fun energetic Christmas event! My favorite songs were the contemporary ones, like Last Christmas.

by barbershopfan on 12/12/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The show was wonderful! Harmonies were great. This should be a holiday must attend. I wish they would schedule dates during the year and sing other songs from their list.

  • Just do it.

by flipmorrison on 12/12/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The Blenders showed up with a standard four-piece rock band: Drums, keyboards, guitar and bass. These eight guys showed that they all were solid musicians. I thought they had the bass mixed a bit too high, and when they did R&B and gospel, the organ should have been mixed higher. The Blenders don't do the fifties do-wop thing. They are big on Modernaires-type chords and also swing into a Motown groove now and again, and even do some straight gospel. They did a nice a capella set of standard religious carols separated by a recording of one of their kids going his Linus Van Pelt imitation. It worked pretty well, although sometimes the applause stepped on the recording of the kid. The set from their alter-ego The Folkers (shades of Spinal Tap / The Folksmen) was funny, but I would not have missed it if it had not beeen there. All-in-all the whole thing seemed more genuine than the disapointing Mannheim Steamroller we saw last year.

  • So fun!

Definitely a must see. Lots of energy, great voices, and great songs. A feel good show for sure!

  • Best Holiday Concert in Minneapolis!!!

    by Caribou4U on 12/12/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

By far, the Blenders Holiday Concert is the best concert in Minneaplis at Christmas time! My college friends and I have seen them 10 years running, and there is always something new to enjoy. This is a great way to get into the Holiday mood!

  • Blenders Are the Best!

by momripp on 12/12/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

My two daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed this concert! The Blenders performed several songs from their new album, accompanied by their 4 piece backup band. These were great, but, as always, their best work was the acapella Christmas carol set. Fabulous tight harmony! The Folkers set was a hoot (or should I say hootenanny?) Anyone lucky enough to be around the Twin Cities, Fargo or Des Moines should make the Blenders a part of their holiday tradition.

  • Another great Xmas with the Blenders

    by rbhansen46 on 12/11/11Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

These guys consistently put on a great holiday show - 2/3rds of the songs are the same from year to year - and they are great. 1/3rd are either different songs or new songs. The setup and sets are always different and after three years of attending - it still doesn't seem old or stale. We are already looking forward to next year.

  • Awesome!

I would highly recommend this concert. They sang for 2 hours! Fun and festive.

This was our first time seeing them perform and they were great. We would highly recommend their Holiday show. I can see why many poeple have made them part of their Holiday schedule every year.

maybe they had a new sound guy, but the band was so loud a person couldn't hear the singers (which is what I thought I was paying to hear)
