LETTUCE is (a) the prime ingredient in a salad, (b) a slang for cash, (c) a green herb that can be smoked, (d) a genre-busting six-member musical collective formed in 1992 by four alumni of the prestigious Berklee College Of Music, or (e) all of the above. If you answered "e," then you're in on the sheer magic of a band that both feeds the rich history of funk and combines it with strains of hip-hop, rock, psychedelia, jazz, soul, jam, go-go, and the avant-garde.
The GRAMMY Award-nominated six-piece is comprised of Adam Deitch [drums, percussion, arrangement], Adam "Shmeeans" Smirnoff [guitar], Erick "Jesus" Coomes [bass], Ryan Zoidis [alto, baritone, tenor sax, Korg X-911], Eric "Benny" Bloom [trumpet, horns], and Nigel Hall [vocals, Hammond B-3, Rhodes, clavinet, keyboards]. To date, their discography includes Outta Here [2002], Rage! [2008], Fly [2012], Crush [2015], the EP Mt. Crushmore [2016], the live album Witches Stew [2017], Elevate [2019], Resonate [2020], Unify [2022], and now VIBE - a single 48 minute continuous session of pure, free-flowing improvisation, available digitally for the first time.
With VIBE, Lettuce cement their status as boundary-pushing innovators three decades into their lauded career, blurring lines and smashing up jazz chords, psychedelic passages, big horns, strains of soul and go-go, hip-hop elements for an uplifting, improvisational sound all their own. Ryan Zoidis explains, "we got into a vibe and hit record. 48 minutes went by like a blink of an eye. This is our first purely improvised recording. Nothing planned, nothing edited or overdubbed. This is a true spontaneous musical expression captured in its entirety."
All together now... Lett us VIBE.

Fun band, love the energy! Tight group, would see them every week if I could!!
awesome show except for the venue "Event Staff" kicking us gray haired folks out of a great viewing location so younger kids good have our spots. thank you State Theater for the age discrimination.
We danced all night and enjoyed the music. We where glad there was no opener!. The State Theatre is a great venue for a concert.
Aside from having to throw away the candy and lighter I had in my pocket upon entering the House of Blues per security orders, Lettuce was incredible!!! Great sound and the crowd was fun and friendly! I started the night in the balcony section overlooking the venue, then I went up to the mezzanine to catch that view. By the end of the night I had easily made my way to the front of the stage and the energy from the people around me was magical. Everyone around me was having a great time and the band's sound and vibe were ON POINT!!! Ran into some of the band members on the street afterwards too, which was really cool!
They are the main deal....great concert....2 sets with perfect timing on the intermission. House of Blues is a great concert venue. We were in the balcony and the acoustics are so much better that down below.
Fantastic band/musicians!! Played long (over 2 hrs). Beautiful night and great outdoor venue.
They started off like the best elevator music you've ever heard, and then slowly built to this amazing climax of horns and cow bell and keyboard, getting dark in between (my favorite) This is my 2nd time seeing lettuce and I am so looking forward to seeing them again!
Amazing band with great musical skills. Live Nation not so much. Booze, Booze and more Booze everywhere - not a good look. LN food truck was fast food - no healthy, not interesting - boring. Bring back the local food trucks. I much liked GLA before LN took over. 5 stars - Lettuce 1 star - Live Nation operation
I enjoyed the lettuce with a few dressings. It was a great time. The lettuce was crisp, fresh, and just brought you joy.
The staff were all so nice and the show was amazing!
All I had heard from many was that Lettuce puts on a fabulous show. While that usually equals somewhat of a letdown, they blew me away! What a fantastic time! I took my daughter with me and a few of her friends came. I think they are hooked! I actually drove back from St Augustine from seeing WSP the night before, was exhausted but they gave out so much energy. I will definitely be back!!
Love this band! First time at the venue: impressed. Bartenders were a little grumpy, but other than that, excellent experience.
I’ve been to hundreds of concerts over the years and this was my first time at this venue… by far best sound I’ve ever experienced. No matter where you’re at, it sounds amazing! Lettuce brings the funk! Show was awesome!!!
The only issue was the sub woofer at the stage was too loud, myself and 5 other people noticed it right away, eventually our ears adjusted but it was beyond safe decibel levels off sure,
Great show at a legendary venue! Lettuce was in prime form, and I’ve seen them four times previously.
Our group got yelled at several times for not wearing our masks in the bar area (while actively drinking our beers) but it was ok to not be wearing our masks 3 ft away on the floor in front of the stage. Odd and total buzz kill.
I’m a huge Lettuce fan and am not disappointed in the music or anything they did, but the sound quality and over booking of the event venue was really ruining the event for me. The ONLY place you can get good sound at the Fillmore is in front of the stage. However the venue decided to book so many people that it was uncomfortably packed on the floor and over flowing into other room where this venue has just decided those people don’t deserve to hear a good show or even see it! Either only sell enough tickets that we can all stand on the floor at the same time or install additional A/V tech throughout the venue. This was a total waste of my money and a terrible experience.
Great place to see a show and Lettuce never disappoints!
Phish after show @ Hard Rock Casino in the Sound Waves Theater. The room was a great intimate room for 600 - 800 people (guess) and the sound in the room was fantastic. Lettuce came out 1235am and played their funkalicious badass jams into the wee hours of the morning 240am (2 hrs) . The crowd was happy energetic and got their monies worth !! The only disappointment was some confusion into weather the band was going to reappear for an encore. They never did but everyone left happy into a incoming rain storm and strolled down the boardwalk smiling 😃
Lettuce kicks so much ass... I will see them any day, any time, within a 2.5 hour radius, they melt my soul, turn its into a vibratory bliss, then rebuild me spirit molecule by molecule into I am reborn like so many a phoenix from the ashes of my former self.
