David Gray on Tour
David Gray can captivate an entire sold-out stadium with just his voice and a guitar, pulling at every listener's heartstrings with each emotional hook. The singer-songwriter grew comfortable on the stage starting out in the early 1990s touring around the UK, Ireland and the US. Within a few years, Gray's audiences grew significantly, especially when he started opening for groups like Radiohead and the Dave Matthews Band. But it wasn't until he went independent and released the album White Ladder in 1998 that Gray began getting the recognition he deserved. He ended up performing at the popular Glastonbury Festival in 1999, and eventually made it to the main stage in 2003. He's since toured the world extensively, selling out dates from the US to Europe to Australia, as he continues to expand his impressive catalog of songs.
David Gray in Concert
English singer-songwriter David Gray has enjoyed a strong, steady career composing some of music's most understated - and underrated - melodies. Gray was born in Sale, Cheshire, in North West England, in 1968, but moved to Wales with his family as a young boy. There, he started dabbling in music, playing in local punk bands as a teenager. He then headed back to England to attend the Liverpool College of Art (whose alumni include John Lennon), and began honing his songwriting skills. After graduation, he relocated to London to pursue a solo career and was quickly signed to Hut Records in 1992. He then released his debut single, "Birds Without Wings," followed by his 1993 debut album, A Century Ends, which captures a young Gray finding and forming his fierce, folk-inspired style. His next two albums, Flesh and Sell, Sell, Sell, brought some extra attention - especially in Ireland - but failed to reach a wider audience across the pond. He decided to go DIY for his fourth album, White Ladder, which he recorded in his London apartment and self-released in 1998. This decision proved to be more than wise: Dave Matthews then released the album on his brand-new ATO Records in 2000, and the single "Babylon" shot up the charts in both the UK and the US. The album has since been certified platinum a jaw-dropping 10 times. Over the following decade, Gray would continue to experiment, weaving in electronic touches while maintaining his signature heartfelt acoustic style. His 2005 album, Slow Motion, debuted at the top of the charts in Ireland and the UK, while his 2009 release, Draw the Line, featured notable appearances from Annie Lennox and Jolie Holland. In the next decade, Gray would slow down a bit, releasing his 10th studio album, Mutineers, in 2014, before returning in 2019 with Gold in a Brass Age, both released on his own IHT Records.

Would not have wanted to see anyone else July 16, 2022
David and his band did not disappoint, they put on on heck of a performance. The crowd was dancing, singing and having just one heck of good time.
Awesome concert! David Gray rocked the house! He played for 2 hours! Great night, great concert!
My wife & I waited for this concert for 2 years due to cancellations because of COVID. David Gray was worth the wait! David & band played the entire White Ladder CD, a bunch of other favorites & even some vintage Bowie. We traveled from Pittsburgh to see him. He played in PIttsburgh numerous times but skipped us on this tour. The Jacobs Pavilion @ Nautica was an excellent venue to see a show! Very intimate place with a canal running past it & a view of downtown Cleveland. We were going to walk from downtown from our hotel to the concert but there was a pedestrian bridge closed to the pavilion. We decide to Uber & glad about that. We’ll be checking out more shows at Jacobs Pavilion
We LOVE David Gray! He was wonderful as usual, and we had great seats (row H)..but the acoustics were TERRIBLE!! Ive seen other reviews from other shows at the same location that said differently, but that was not our experience. Lyrics were not clear. Disappointing.
Electric! The energy and music rank in best performances I’ve seen. Grateful for the musicality, audience engagement - a thrill!
This was by far one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. David Gray’s voice was spot on and sounded better than his record. He was spirited, and engaged with the audience. We had a fabulous time!
David Gray is a pro. Tight band and 2 great sets. Nice to see McClune on the kit for White Ladder set. Really nice venue with plenty of parking. Clean. Staff at venue were pleasant. Would see DG again no question. Will be back
Highly anticipated White Ladder Anniversary Tour. Glad I kept the tickets during the pandemic postponements. He was outstanding.
Great experience other than the seats being very small. These were the smallest possible folding chairs zip tied together, in $150/seat front section.
Every part of the concert experience was perfect. The line to enter was efficient and quick. The venue on the river was beautiful. The availability of beverages and food was plentiful. But the best part was David Gray. What a performer! He engaged the audience, played all the songs I hoped to hear and 4 encores. I’m from Cbus but Cleveland Rocks!
Was an outstanding David Gray concert with a blemish. The music was great, light show fine, musicianship and singing top-notch, but I found the encore a let down. I understand he may be a big David Bowie fan (I like him a lot too), but to end his concert just playing Bowie songs was awkward and a great disservice to himself. There are innumerable great songs in his catalog that we'd much rather hear than covers, so that was quite an anticlimax. I left feeling a bit let down, not fatally wounded, but somewhat disappointed. Regarding the venue, it's comfortable and offers good food & drink options, but the big letdown was the sound ( a bit of a deal breaker). Even though we were not in the last sections of the Budweiser Stage (203), the sound was muddled and the artist's voice was very hard to discern, even when just talking to the public. It could have been just this specific concert, but when I talked with other concert goers on other events they confirmed it was a common issue here. Then to top it all off, there were a lot of people talking loudly during all the songs of the concert, it was not just someone close by (there were), it was generalised chatter. Very disrespectful not only to the artist but also to those of us that wanted to listen to the music and not some inane useless banter. I much more prefer Massey Hall where all concert-goers are listening and concentrating on the music, not trivialities like beer, french-fries and their conversations.
David Gray is as good as ever and brought a to. Of energy to this performance!
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this concert. David Gray is such an amazing artist.
The show was well worth the wait after the covid cancellation. David was on top of his game and in a great mood, the band was tight and the stage lighting & visuals were impressive. We have seen him a number of times and I think this was his best show yet.
My 14 year old son bought us tickets to go see David Gray as my Christmas gift. My son and I had the most wonderful evening, singing and dancing. David Gray was great as usual but this time I would say it was even magical!! Thank you Mr. Gray!!!!
Great show!! Wonderful energy from David and the audience. Only fault was that we could not hear properly when he was speaking. Singing: aok
David Gray blew away all expectations. He opened, took a 20 minute break and came back and rocked the entire night. It was more than I thought it would be and worth every penny to see him.
David Gray and the band gifted us with a terrific concert performance. It was really fun and even better D.G. and the band looked with they were having a blast. Thank you!
