Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.

Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."

"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."

"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

    Just the best

by AllieSB on 5/19/24Capital One Hall - Tysons

Indigo Girls are the best. It was fun to experience a few newly-scored songs with a symphony. And, this was a particularly laid back symphony venue, which was nice. Felt truly like an Indigo Girls crowd at a symphony show.

    Fabulous Show

by Norie on 5/14/24Capital One Hall - Tysons

The show was superb. The Indigo Girls are in their element when performing live. The orchestra was phenomenal and blended seamlessly with the guitar, banjo, and mandolin playing of the Indigo Girls. It was my first time seeing a performance at the Capital One Hall, and venue was great as well!!!!

by Ivy on 5/14/24Capital One Hall - Tysons

The joy of hearing The Indigo Girls supported by a full symphony was beyond expectations. It was hard to tell who was having more fun, the crowd, the musicians, the conductor, or our beloved Amy & Emily!

The indigo girls/annie humphrey show was amazing and full of energy! The encore between the two bands was an ultimate jam fest. Loved the drumming. Amy and Emily were fabulous as always. Their set list was a great combination of old and new songs.

    Good vibes

by Steveo on 3/4/24Uptown Theater - Kansas City

My wife and I have seen the Indigo Girls several times and they never fail to be entertaining and have a feel good sound. The Uptown Theater in KC is a nice venue with great acoustics. Their current lineup which includes an excellent electric violin player makes for a very enjoyable performance. Can’t go wrong seeing them live!

    First timer

by Cosy on 12/12/23Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

As you get older the larger venues for concerts are not our cup of tea. We prefer smaller more intimate venues and the Scottish Rite Auditorium fits the bill. Once the wife said she wanted to see the Indigo girls we bought the tickets and enjoyed the show as well as the auditorium
