David Gray on Tour

David Gray can captivate an entire sold-out stadium with just his voice and a guitar, pulling at every listener's heartstrings with each emotional hook. The singer-songwriter grew comfortable on the stage starting out in the early 1990s touring around the UK, Ireland and the US. Within a few years, Gray's audiences grew significantly, especially when he started opening for groups like Radiohead and the Dave Matthews Band. But it wasn't until he went independent and released the album White Ladder in 1998 that Gray began getting the recognition he deserved. He ended up performing at the popular Glastonbury Festival in 1999, and eventually made it to the main stage in 2003. He's since toured the world extensively, selling out dates from the US to Europe to Australia, as he continues to expand his impressive catalog of songs.

David Gray in Concert

English singer-songwriter David Gray has enjoyed a strong, steady career composing some of music's most understated - and underrated - melodies. Gray was born in Sale, Cheshire, in North West England, in 1968, but moved to Wales with his family as a young boy. There, he started dabbling in music, playing in local punk bands as a teenager. He then headed back to England to attend the Liverpool College of Art (whose alumni include John Lennon), and began honing his songwriting skills. After graduation, he relocated to London to pursue a solo career and was quickly signed to Hut Records in 1992. He then released his debut single, "Birds Without Wings," followed by his 1993 debut album, A Century Ends, which captures a young Gray finding and forming his fierce, folk-inspired style. His next two albums, Flesh and Sell, Sell, Sell, brought some extra attention - especially in Ireland - but failed to reach a wider audience across the pond. He decided to go DIY for his fourth album, White Ladder, which he recorded in his London apartment and self-released in 1998. This decision proved to be more than wise: Dave Matthews then released the album on his brand-new ATO Records in 2000, and the single "Babylon" shot up the charts in both the UK and the US. The album has since been certified platinum a jaw-dropping 10 times. Over the following decade, Gray would continue to experiment, weaving in electronic touches while maintaining his signature heartfelt acoustic style. His 2005 album, Slow Motion, debuted at the top of the charts in Ireland and the UK, while his 2009 release, Draw the Line, featured notable appearances from Annie Lennox and Jolie Holland. In the next decade, Gray would slow down a bit, releasing his 10th studio album, Mutineers, in 2014, before returning in 2019 with Gold in a Brass Age, both released on his own IHT Records.

  • A beautiful performance full of joy

by pspspspspspsp on 3/20/25Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

David Gray’s performance was entirely focused on the music and he somehow managed to sound even better live than an in a recording. The song line up was excellent covering the new album, old hits and covers.

  • Great as always

by NK MK on 2/26/25Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue except for the cheap plastic folding chairs. Really? No worries though we just stood and had a great 2 hours 15 minutes of songs, old and new. If you've never seen, you're missing a fantastic talent.

  • AMAZING NIGHT

by MAGNO on 2/26/25Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing night with David Gray! The venue was perfect and the energy onstage supported the energy off stage. Can't wait to come back and see another show at the Roxy!

  • Lousy venue, pretty good concert

by JoeWomack on 2/26/25Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Like many concert venues, the Roxy is terrible. David Gray has about 5-10 great songs. The beginning of concert, he played many that were not his big hits. Toward the end, he did play his greatest hits. I enjoy watching them on YouTube more than going to this live concert.

  • We Love David Gray!!

by ChesterATL on 2/26/25Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

David Gray is our favorite all-time Singer/Songwriter and he is great in concert!! The Roxy is a nice venue but the VIP lounge is definitely not worth the extra $40. There were much shorter lines at the main bars and the space was too crowded to enjoy.

  • Great Experience

    by Lulu21 on 2/20/25Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The David Gray concert at The Orpheum Theater was a great experience! He put on an amazing show. The sound quality was top notch, and I don’t think there’s a bad seat in that theater. Only negatives are it’s very difficult to see the row letters if you arrive a little late, once the lights are down. Also, there were some obnoxious idiots who kept shouting out when David was speaking. And the super idiot the row behind me who put his legs and feet all the way over the chair back in the seat next to me. Other than that, a great night out listening to a very talented musician.

  • My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert

by Johnny D on 2/19/25Harrah's Resort SoCal - The Events Center - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyable production from talented musicians and a fantastic artist. First time to a David Gray concert would support future events. Thank You

  • Gray at his most Colorful

by AliG on 2/19/25Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the David's Past and Present concert at Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. He had the audience on their feet on numerous occasions but the best thing was how much fun he seemed to be having. We have always been big fans but even more so now, his Present was just as good as his Past.

  • Unbelievable!

David Gray was amazing! Loved his show. Great ticket price for a great seat. Fox theater is gorgeous and my favorite local theatre to see shows. I fully recommend going to enjoy any event!
