BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

  • So talented!

    by erb22 on 9/16/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I have seen Brandi in concert and she and the twins really delivered, once again. For being such a tiny thing, it's an amazing experience to hear such a big voice fill the room. Brandi (and her great band) are so ridiculously talented that I had to shake my head a few times to make sure I was really seeing such a great show! She is such a sweet girl and really appreciates her audience...I loved that she takes the time to speak to the audience and interact a little bit. And the acapella numbers were unbelievable! The only negative was that the main floor had reserved seating which was disappointing because the last time I saw her it was great to stand so close and dance with everyone else in the orchestra pit-area.

  • St. Louis Brandi always delivers

by ROMass on 9/16/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Songs that should be stale are still alive and kicking - she's incredible and passionate and the twins with the new drummer gave Brandi's voice a run for her money. Just Brilliant - this has ruined me for other concerts as the bar has been set so high.

  • A Must See for anyone who loves music.

by Misnomer on 9/16/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

You may think her too country or not your style, but when it comes to engaging an audience and delivering a variety of musical performances it can't get better than Brandi Carlile.

Brandi Carlile puts on a hell of a show. Entertaining, personal, and her voice is truly amazing she mixes it up unplugged, accoustic, and more rock I would pay to see her over and over and can't wait for her return.

I have not known or her that long and really don't know many of her songs, but it didn't matter. She has a great stage presents and really interacts with the crowd. It was a really good show! I would go again for sure!

  • Brandi Carlile can really put on a show! Wonderful

by Spottykiwi on 9/16/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I knew I liked Brandi Carlile's music before I went in but, wow, she was amazing in concert. She had comfortable conversations with the crowd, involved us, and wowed us with her beautiful, moving, and often rocking songs. The show was really balanced because on the one hand, she sang slow acoustic melodies and then later switched it up to something more rock and roll. What an entertainer! I hope she's around for a long time and I will see her any time she goes on tour!

  • Fantastic Concert!

Brandi Carlile is an amazing perfomer and talented on so many levels! Her lyrics are moving, her band is unique and extremely gifted, and the show overall was one I won't soon forget! If you get a chance to, go see this truly inspiring concert!

  • Brandi Carlile & the band put on an eclectic show!

by CurlieVicster on 9/16/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

They started the show off with one of their newest songs and they did it acoustically. She can sing country, rock 'n roll, and even sound a little folky. She has put together a really strong band including a cellist. The twins are amazing, they play guitar & bass, plus they can sing back-up AND write some killer songs. All in all, the show was well rounded, the crowd was really into it and the band was really playing to the crowd. AWESOME!!!

  • Brandi Carlile rocks my socks.

This band is so tight, and so skilled. They sound even better in person than in CD, and that's no mean feat. You have to go. Seriously.

  • Brandi Carlile and her band were phenomonal!

by picturethis on 9/15/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

The Beaumont club was quaint and the crowd was fun. From the moment the band walked out to the moment they stopped, they had everyone's attention! I've never seen anyone do that before. They are awesome and you can tell that the band loves what they do and they all have so much fun together as a group. I will be going back whenever Brandi comes again, especially if it's at the Beaumont . They all have such gifts and I'm glad that they will share them with the world! I loved the drummer too. She had so much energy and really revved up the crowd. The whole band was awesome and the music reminds me of the 1940's! It's about time we hear good music again!

  • Don't miss her.

by holdingon on 9/15/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

So I love music. I love concerts. It is the one splurge I have in live. It is my therapy, my religion, my obsession. Saying this is important because I am serious when I say don't miss this show. Her voice is amazing. She is so enthusiastic about her music and the stories behind them. She shares so much of herself. I can build up a tough exterior. I held the hand of my grandmother and my father as they died just 3 months apart. I can try to just go through life and push down those feelings but when I hear her voice she cuts through me. Her words are emotional and her voice is the dagger to cut into the tough exterior. I thought I would weep through the whole show but I was joyful. I was sharing my favorite songs with all my new friends. I feel sorry for anyone who missed this show because she is not just a singer song writer she is an entertainer. Brandi I have seen Elton John I love him too, girl you can hold your own.
