BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:
Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

I was so shocked to be in the presence of such an amazing entertainer. I was also pleased to hear how fine tuned was her vocal instrument. Her simple approach to her music leaves you craving for more. She also sang a few cover songs from some of the greatest singers and songwriters of past and present. I was astonished to hear how she was able to take their music and give those songs the renaissance they deserve.
I was really impressed with Brandi's voice. I had never been to see her live before, and her voice in person was even more incredible than recordings. She was very genuine, and I loved that it was acoustic, it was so raw and really set her voice apart. brandi is an amazing artist. It was so easy to tell that she loved what she was doing.
Brandi and her band covered every emotional heartstring in one fantastically grand evening. Intimate ballads, rolling anthems and even her trademark vocal breaks were highlighted by the Aladdin's fantastic acoustics. The twins were in top form, the backing band was tight, and the mood was perfect. If ever there was a performer who should release a live album, and set it at the Aladdin, it was this show and this performer. Not just carbon copies of the studio material, but richer and better. The tastes of her new forthcoming album show that she will continue to grow in stature. Such a relief from the empty, vapid singers we are forced to endure. This one is the real deal!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! all that is required! They put on such a great show and worth driving anywhere for her heart is really in this and it shows!!Ive seenmany shows but none are as amazing as the BEAUTIFUL and amazing voice as hers...and they rock!!!
Brandi has such a huge voice with so much emotion and soul behind her songs. The lyrics are always so beautiful, heartbreaking and truthful. The best thing about her is that her music as actually better live. She is an excellent performer and will never dissapoint. I have seen her three times and hope to return many more.
Brandi Carlile is a phenomenal performer. She is charming, entertaining, and her raw talent is like none other. Brandi is truly one of the greatest performers of my generation. Don't miss her live shows!!! NO ONE has a voice as pure as hers, and listening to her live is as special as it gets. Great crowd interaction, and great set lists, too.
It's no surprise that Brandi and the band rocked it and blew the audience away-they always do!
This "unplugged" concert in a smaller venue felt intimate. Brandi has great stage presence, and a powerful voice. In fact, she chose to sing one song without amplification; the audience could still hear and appreciate her. She sang songs from all her current albums and gave us a taste of what's to come. I always picture her with a guitar in hand, but she is equally as comfortable at the piano keyboard. I thoroughly enjoyed this concert, and would leap at a chance to hear Brandi live again.
If you love her cds now, seeing her in person will blow you away. Her musical range (The Story especially) goes from Angelic softness to that classic Brandi Rasp and it seriously gives you chills. Her banter with "the twins" is fun and shows her personality. She is a talented musician and I highly recommend seeing her live. She says she likes intimate venues as opposed to large theaters and it shows by her ongoing conversation with the crowd, she is interactive and funny. I liked Brandi but now I am a complete fan.
I have seen Brandi play 4 or 5 times and I always enjoy her performances. She puts a lot into her concerts and her voice is amazing iii I love her stories in between songs and the way she talks to her audience:o) My friend and I are wondering why she is playing in sit-down venues. The folks at the Aladdin were good about it but her next show at the Schnitz will be harder to dance at.
I have seen her four times and I actually went and to Denver just to see her and everytime she blows me away. I promise if she keeps coming here than I will see every show!!! She just has such a beautiful voice.
The TCC Leo Rich Theater was the perfect venue for this unplugged, acoustic show. Every seat in the house was phenomenal, and the acoustics were absolutely crystal clear. Brandi's performance was top-notch (this is the fourth show I have seen her play in Tucson), and she also performed a handful of brand new songs from her upcoming CD release (Sept. 2009). She is a consummate performer and entertainer, and shows the wisdom of artists many years her senior. After the show, she graciously met with all of her fans and autographed CDs and posters (and my friend's cast).
this was the best concert i have ever been to, loved it when she sang compleatly unplugged, the venue was nice too and fit the kind of show that she put on. I will go see Brandi Carlile EVERY TIME she comes back to houston!
Wonderful performance. HOB Houston is a nice, intimate venue. We had great seats on floor-row c, center stage right. Brandi did a meet and greet with fans at the end of the show and we got to meet her, take pics, get autographs and basically tell her how her music impacts our lives. So glad we got to do this as I have a feeling she is about to take off and become huge very soon, and this type of venue and meet and greet will be impossible for her to continue. She is a warm and giving performer and I cannot wait to see her again. Only downsides to the night was that HOB staff did not have a clear understanding of seating. First told people it was general admission despite assigned seats at POS and then changed it once people rushed to front. Drinks way too high and they had attendant in rest room, which really irks me as I feel like I should tip each time they hand me a napkin to dry hands....like I cannot get one myself! I had no interest in using their products. Overall, one of the best concerts I have gone too.
Brandi and the Boys are amazingly talented artists- I am sure I'll still be listening to their tunes when I'm 60 years old!
This was perhaps one of her best shows yet!! She is simple amazing. I fell in love all over again. Her voice is angelic.
I've seen Brandi Carlile in concert three times now, and the show at Leo Rich was right up there as the best of them all. She is the best female vocalist I've ever heard, and the twins and the cellist are also amazing. Can't wait til she's back in Tucson
It is refreshing to see a woman performer who doesn't feel the need to make her beauty & wardrobe the most important part of her show. Brandi is down to earth and puts her music first. She is a doll!
More than I expected. Hope she comes back to Houston...
