BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

  • Incredible!

Brandi Carlile's show last night at the Beacon Theater in NYC was amazing! Her voice is just as incredible live as it is on her recordings. I can't say enough good things about this amazing performer.

  • Brandi was amazing as usual!!

    by Jen2of5 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi and the band were amazing as usual. Their energy is amazing, they sound great, and you can feel that they enjoy every second of the show. I've seen her a few times now, after the first song of the first show she became my favorite artist EVER. A cd can't capture that kind of talent, this is a show you HAVE to see live. this was my first time at the venue and it DID NOT disappoint.

  • Love that Brandi

by knitsetter on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

As always an amazing set that is woven seamlessly...acoustic, hard rock, a capella, piano, and with each song, the sweetness of a gifted voice.

  • what a show!

One of the best concerts I have been to. Brandi Carlile showed NY that she is a force to be reckoned with. Shockingly good.

  • brandi and band were more than expected

    by musicdoc522 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

As soon as they came on stage, they energy level between the band and the audience was incredible. She received a tumultuous response to many of her known songs, but also to many of her new ones. There were several dramatic moments: an edge of the stage nonelectric, no mike performance of a new song by Brandi and the whole band, an incredible jam to Folsom Prison Blues and a great audience sing along to :Turpentine. Most noticeable was the electric rock approach of the band. The rocking out on many of the songs was impeccable and very well received. The band was superb and Brandi was really enjoying herself. She shared many heart felt anecdotes and expressed tremendous appreciation to the crowd reaction. As a senior citizen fan of her two acoustic cds, I was not disappointed in her renditions of the songs, even the higher energy level. I can tell I am going to like the new album which will be released this week. Finally, her voice was just as amazing live as on her recordings.

  • Brandi is amazing!

    by lsanassi13 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The shows was absolutely breathtaking (as it always is) and the new songs are excellent. I can't wait to have the album in my hands on October 6th!. The acoustic were also amazing at the Beacon Theater. The venue made the experience even more unforgetable. I can;t wait for the next concert!! :)

  • amazing

by leashieg on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great! I'd never seen her perform live and was really didn't know a lot of her stuff. Her voice was just as strong and incredible as on her CDs. Her energy and excitement were contagious -- it was clear she was psyched to be playing at the Beacon -- probably one of the largest venues she's played so far. Loved her new stuff. Loved the old. The crowd was rowdy and I never knew she had such a big following -- especially with college kids. I'm a huge fan now! Definitely catch her if she's in town.

  • In her best voice, connects with audience.

    by billmweber100 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was her first headline appearance at the Beacon Theater. She treated it a special occasion, and it really paid of with the audience.

  • Amazing Show. Completely obnoxious fans.

    by BadMojo11 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Compared to the hundreds of shows I have seen this definitely is in my top five. Brandi and her crew are true musicians. Their passion for music is contagious and this was such an amazing concert. I will be attending the next time they come through without a doubt. The only gripe I have was the obnoxious crowd (of mostly drunk girls). Brandi was frequently interrupted by woohoos and whistling. People need to show more respect and exercise some dignity. I'm all about enthusiasm but there is a proper time for it and very often that was not observed. Grow up. As an example, I couldn't believe it when Brandi was in the middle of telling a story about her friend who committed suicide at 16 and people were shouting things out interrupting her in mid sentence. I would have thought her fans had more class than that. Brandi even commented at one point on how 'rowdy' people were. It was pretty sad.

  • So very entertaining

by Branded on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I liked the whole preformance. The twins with the signature hats. I loved it. Brandi was adorable and seemed so happy to be there. They put on a great show by adding some diversity and humor. She made the concert into a little performance. Her genuine excitement in playing there was adorable. Her voice and lyrics are very powerful and her music is unforgettable. I loved her sense of humor. Great show and fun to see.

  • Brandi Carlile was Absolutely Amazing!

    by jmab334 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

My friend and I had chills the whole time, and I even cried through some songs, old and new. Brandi's voice was incredible, and the whole group sounded even better live than on their albums. Their energy was powerful and constant, their new songs were fantastic, the covers were fun and incredibly well done. It was probably the best show I've ever seen, and would definitely see her again.

  • Brandi burned down the Beacon!

by CMGB on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlisle rocked out last night at the Beacon. Her voice was in top form, smoky, emotional, strong. Opening acapella with her band got it off to a great start. Alternated between hard rock, heart-reanding acoustic. "That Year" literally brought me to tears. A talented show-woman, humble, awed by the crowd and commanding. Sand one song totally acoustic (unmiked) and reached the rafters; you could have heard a pin drop.

  • Brandi is a 10 all around!

by wldhrt on 10/4/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

She has the most unique, amazing voice out there. She can rock it out like a pro and then bring it all down to a ccapella in a large venue and have everyone silent and in awe. Great musical and lyrical talent- She is awesome!

  • Brandi Carlile rocked!

by lidthebid on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was really great. There was a good mix of songs and the band sounded awesome. Brandi brought great energy and passion to the show.

  • Brandi was exceptional

    by Citydream1984 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was one of the most amazing concerts that I have ever been to. She and her band was exceptional. I enjoyed so much. I almost lost my voice 'cause I screamed too much for her.
