BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

  • I heart Brandi Carlile!!!

    by CUL8RBrandi on 10/5/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi's show at the Beacon in NYC was absolutely nothing short of amazing. Her voice was crystal clear. Her range was effortless. Her presence on stage was rock solid. My one regret is that her show was only 2 hours instead of 4. I'm ready to quit my job and follow her on tour around the country. She definitely had me at hello.

  • Brandi rocked as always!

This was my 8th Brandi concert and she never disappoints. The music on her new album, releasing in c.d. format tomorrow, is also true Brandi quality. I get lost in her voice and find myself in a place of Zen. She has the ability to draw her audience in with her complex charm that is both powerful and modest. Her humble nature is truly amazing and makes you wonder if she fully realizes the impact her musical abilities has on her fans. The twins, Phil and Tim, and Josh on the cello all are in keeping with her humble style and you get a sense of the closeness they share. The dummer on this tour, Allison Miller, was amazing and seems the perfect fit for this band. All in all... an incredible experience. If you haven't seen Brandi live... buy your tickets today!

I have seen Brandi when she opened for Jamie Cullum in or around 2005. I was knocked out by her sound, but her improvement concert after concert is staggering. Her voice is something else and the band very tight!

This is a wonderful, well put-together show. Her voice is delightful, strong and pleasantly beautiful. She is fun and heart breaking all in the same evening. Her band is talented and the twins are not to be missed. Overall, I would see her again in a minute.

What an amazing show and amazing voice. It's refreshing to see talented artists getting the recognition they deserve. Brandi is an amazing singer & songwriter who can actually sing...what a blessing!

this was the second time i'd seen brandi perform, and she is really unbelievable. i've seen hundreds of performers over the years and her voice is definitely the best female voice i've ever witnessed. she puts on a great show. this time she had a full band and they were awesome. the crowd in nyc was great as well. everyone was on their feet cheering and singing along. perfect night.

  • Brandi comes into her own...

    by Moe12 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Brandi perform several times on Mayercraft 1 about two years ago, and thought she was a great up and coming talent. I was excited to see her again and was totally blown away by the performance. She seems so much more self-confident as a performer and had everyone in the Beacon in the palm of her hand. It was also great to see her with a full band (all of whom seemed like major talents individually). I got the impression that this performance was one of (if not the) most important one of her career to date. She felt it, the audience felt it. I'm a pretty jaded concert-goer and I was really set back on my heels by this performance. If you get a chance to catch later performances on this tour, don't miss it!

Brandi's voice rocks! She's a great storyteller, and the concert was relaxing and enjoyable. Her opening act, Katie Herzig, was great as well. Brandi chose the right mixture of old, new, and cover songs. Her band is amazing as well!!

  • BRANDI - OFF THE CHARTS!

by chrometop on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlile is amazing. She is one of the best singers you'll ever hear live and has an awesome band. If you like REAL music this is it. No B.S. here. Hands down the best show this year. She's got country in her soul but she is a rocker and a wonderful songwriter / story teller. Plus anybody who says Tumbleweed Connection is their favorite album of all time is OK in my book.

  • Great Talent! Friendly, warm crowd!

by Ditmars on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

My fiance and I went to the Beacon Theater for the first time to see this show. We were impressed with the friendly, professional support staff and the grand, almost psychedelic quality of the Greek-Romanish interior decor. The acoustics were pleasant. The diverse crowd was a mix of screaming teenagers, curious middle-aged empty-nesters, young queer couples, some parent and college-age kid tandems, and Upper West Siders. People were friendly and warm, and there was a balance of folks staying seated and folks wanting to stand. For the big songs, people stood and cheered at the appropriate moments. The music brought out a positive vibe. It's the kind of place where people drink in moderation, and therefore cut loose without getting too obnoxious.

  • great show

From the first note to last guitar strum - this is a must see performance. Her voice will haunt you for quite some time. Absolutely beautiful!

  • Brandi was amazing

    by Athan1 on 10/4/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The intro was awesome!!! Brandi and the band walked in the front of the stage and started playing with just one microphone.... The Beatles cover "Let It Be" was also amazing and the Folsom Prison Blues!!! And off course in the middle of the concert.... all the band walked in the front again, with no mics, no cables....the whole theater was quite...and they played 'Dying Day" from here new album..... AWESOME!!! Katie Herzig was also very good!!!
