BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

  • Wonderful, personal show!

by Newvillage on 10/7/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best live experiences of my life! Brandi´s music and voice are amazing but in concert they are twice and good. She plays favourites, new songs and surprises you too! And she has great command of the audience. It feels like she ´s singing just for you! Love her!

this show was amazing! she really mixed up her set playing almost equally from all three of her albums. it was great to hear stuff from her self titled album-which is still my favorite. i also loved that the philly show was on the same day as the release of the new album. brandi seemed very excited about that-she also seemed very fresh despite her rigorous touring schedule.

  • Brandi is a superstar

by agkphilly on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

I don't throw that word around lightly, but after having seen two of Brandi's shows (World Cafe Live and last night's at the Keswick), she deserves the accolade. Part Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, but with a voice that's all her own, Brandi has a gift that's rare. She's one of those performers who you couldn't imgaine doing anything else in life other than what she's doing. She was born to write and perform songs, and she does it with complete confidence and maturity that only comes with superstar status. Last night's show at the Keswick was no exception. We were lucky enough to sit front row center, but I have no doubt her magic transcended the hall. I just hope she doesn't get too big so she can't play the more intimate venues. My only question...how does she sing like she sings and chew gum at the same time....serious talent.

  • Amazing performer

    by amelia10 on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert. Loved the acoustic and unplugged songs. Her voice is incredibly powerful and unique and is matched only by her songwriting and on-stage presence. Has great band members too that only further her superiority over other rock soultresses.

  • What a performance!!

    by ravenred68 on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

That was such an awesome performance! From the top when she and her band came out and did an amazingly tight vocal harmony, then launched right into her big hit, to hearing her do Cannonball unplugged, she displayed not only her vocal talent and songwriting ability, but also an amazing range! Loud and powerful at times, soft and intimate at others, and always sweet and true so that it really speaks right to your heart! The crowd, a mix of both young and older, straight and lgbt, were as enthusiastic and excited to see her as she was onstage to see them! And who knew she would do really kick-ass versions of both "Jackson" and "Folsom Prison Blues" as a special encore treat?? I'll always remember her directing the crowd to sing three part harmony on "Turpentine" whenever I listen to that song from now on! Katie Herzig was also really great. I was totally unacquainted with her, and she won me over with one performance! Love it!

  • Brandi is headed to the top!!!

by Hueyroo on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

The show was nothing short of "simply spectacular". The album, too is at the top and destined to stay there for a long time.

  • Give Up The Ghost Traveling Show was great!!

by TNLZ on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

All I have to say was that I let a friend, who did not know anything about Brandi, know that the show was going on and she went upon my recommendation to check it out. She could not believe how great the show was and said she was so glad that I told her about it and that she did not miss it. I took my 13 year old daughter and she really enjoyed the show. This morning she wore her Brandi shirt to school. Brandi even got my daughter to sing last night when there was an audience sing a long which is not easy since she my daughter is a little shy. The show was full of energy with so many instruments and voices and styles of music and entertaining Brandi stories. The unplugged songs were so great to hear live. I will keep looking for a chance to see them again.

  • Best show yet from Brandi

by JoeyGirlinPhilly on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

My third time seeing Brandi brought the most energized, emotional show yet. A healthy balance of intimate acoustic songs, and charging rock songs performed with the 6 piece band. One of the best live female vocals, hands down.

  • Amazing

The show was amazing. Brandie Carlile is an amazingly gifted live performer.

  • Best concert ever...

by EmRae on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

The opening act, Katie Herzig, was phenomenal. I'm totalling buying their new cd. Brandi had the audience in the palm of her hand from the moment she came out on stage. Played new songs and old favorites and several acoustic sets. Nice long encore with a cover of Fulsom Prison that had the whole house rocking. I would have paid twize the cost of admission....

  • Brandi Carlile is amazing

    by GC09 on 10/7/09Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

I don't know much of Brandi Carlile's music- but I didn't even care. She's an amazing and seasoned performer who connected with her audience from beginning to end. Vocally- she's far superior to alot of the acts out there today. It was one of the best shows I've seen in many years and I'd see her again immediately if the opportunity presented itself. She's graceous and genuinely thankful for all that she has and all that she has accomplished. I'd recommend that anyone and everyone see her the next time she comes around.

  • This woman was born to sing!

by Mothermucker on 10/6/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlile is one of those entertainers who was put on this earth to sing! She is charasmatic, charming and she sings an incredible range of music simply effortlessly. She is a soulful storyteller and genuinely engages the audience with her music and personality. Her band and the twins are a real treat. You leave her show feeling she loves what she does and does it very, very well. Have seen her twice now and will go again when she comes back to the east coast. Only complaint is I did not care for the House of Blues venue but Brandi was simply the best!!!

  • 6th time seeing her!!

by Anonymous on 10/6/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Brandi is a magical concert and a must see!! Not only is Brandi Carlile an excellent performer, but the twins are a ripp as well. There's a very uplifting part of the Brandi scene and then there's that very humbling part of the Brandi show that reminds us that life isn't just a Colbi Callet tune about sunsets and smiles.

  • Stunning Show!

by BrandiFan on 10/6/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

A energetic, engaging performance. Brandi is a stunning woman with an astouding voice. Best show I've seen - EVER - and I've been to a lot of concerts. A must see event whenever she is in town. Wish I had the $$ to follow her on tour.

  • Special Night at the Beacon

by HeavyG on 10/6/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I can not find the words to describe the experience of this show. It is said an artist feeds off their audience and I believe it went both ways this special night. Brandi Carlile and her band were able to bring together Gay, Straight, Lesbian, Young(as young as10 years old), and Old( as the gray haired man claiming to be in his ninety's) as one. Your emotions are sent to sadness to laughter and to jubilation as you can't help but to stand up and dance and scream. To miss this show would be to pass on one of life's pleasures.

  • One of a kind

    by Anonymous on 10/6/09The O'Shaughnessy - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi is one of the best live performers I have ever seen. Her opening act, Angel Taylor, blew my mind as well. Great show, intimate setting and well worth the price of admission.

  • AMAZING

Brandi is other-worldly. I've seen her 5 times and she just keeps getting better! I would recommend her show to ANYONE! Doesn't matter what kind of music you like, you will be blown away by Brandi Carlile!!

Most amazing voice, I had a ticket for just myself which would have been awesome too but then I started dating this really great guy and he surprised me with two tickets so we could go together - but alone, with a group, with phenomia, no matter what you would have the time of your life. Her voice could probably cure cancer. I wish it never ended. I saw the acoustic tour, both NY shows, that was great... so intimate, and this was great, different - with the whole band - so rocking! dont know what i love more. Girls chanting in the back - take off your vest - somehow proved to be cute and full of love, everyone loves her and wants more! I hope she comes back to NY soon. AND the new album, effin awesome! Pride and Joy is the song to hear - listen listen listen!!!
