BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:
Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

Brandi put on an incredible show last night in Portland. Wish she would come back again real soon. Just love listening to her.
Brandi put on such a fantastic show! She played the whole spectrum from soft to rock'n to Johnny Cash and did a great job of keeping the audience engaged and part of the show! I would travel 100+ miles soon for the chance to see her again!
Brandi's voice and energy was amazing. She has a country edge, but she can really rock too! My friends and I had a great time, we are now full fledged Brandi fans!
Brandi and her band give her audience something that I feel everyone who was there will remember for a long time. Her vocals and performance were first rate. She covered songs from all three of her albums and did cover versions of "Let It Be" and "Folson Prison Blues". The drummer played the drums like a cross between Ringo Starr and Keith Moon. The guitar and bass playing by twin brothers Phil and Tim Hanseroth added both a rock and roll or country feel to the songs as needed. I kept wondering how someone could sing so perfectly with such a wide range of notes. Brandi made you feel you were at home in your living room. I can not think of a another concert I have ever been to that I felt so relaxed and entertained at the same time.
Brandi had SO MUCH ENERGY!!! And was so personable - We had such a great time! We haven't stopped listening to the new CD as well as our other Brandi favorites. And Katie Herzeig was a real eye opener - great opening act!
Great, great show! She has fabulous songs that go well beyond her years!
Brandi sounds even better in person than she does on her albums...but of course, with more personality. The auditorium event was cozy, and sound was stellar. I'll be buying the new album as soon as it is out...as the Acapella number "Dying Day" is still stuck in m head after about 3 weeks! I'm now officially a fan...and will be following her new tunes closely.
Brandi is a fantastic singer and charismatic performer. Someone who is not a fan could easily become one after seeing her on stage. She is amazing!
Brandi is exceptional as a live performer. I knew I would enjoy the concert, but it was far better than I even imagined. I didn't want it to end.
The opening song, Oh Dear, was just a taste of the many talents this very tight band freely gave to everyone who had the opportunity to see Brandi Carlile in the very beautiful Beacon Theatre. The wonderful venue, which appreciates the acoustic abilities of this very talented band, just enhanced the evening. The tempo of each song seemlessly blended into the next and when the rock'n roll slowed to stage the emotional base of a song which dealt with a 16 year old's suicide, the audience was there with tears. The raw and almost shy human emotions that came out of Brandi Carlile, coupled with the amazing talent of the entire band, combined to provide the entire audience with an evening to treasure, at least not long to forget.
This was our fist event at The House of Blues, so we didn't know what to expect. Our first surprise was finding out that there were no seats whatsover in the whole GA area. Had we paid more for our tickets and gotten a seat upstairs, we wouldn't have been able to see the band due to the wall that was in the way and the numerous patrons who were standing around the balcony railing. We stood for 3 hours and when I couldn't stand it anymore, I went to the back and found a place on the floor to sit for a few minutes. I think asking your patrons to stand for 3-4 hours is a lot. Not sure if we'll be back to this venue. We were surprised to see children at this event and found it inappropriate. This is a bar atmosphere. However, it explains why we were carded and banded at the front door, then carded again at the bar each time we wanted a beer. We each had to get our own beer, which was inconvenient because we stood the chance each time of losing our desired viewing spot. Brandi and the band sounded great except for one thing: the kick drum was waaay over the top and drowned out the other instruments. Any professional sound person should have corrected this immediately. When I was in the bathroom, everything in there was vibrating wildly. This overdone kick drum really cut into our enjoyment of this show. Brandi should get herself a new sound person. Brandi and the band performed with sincerity and lightheartedness, playing an interesting mix of tunes (17 of them total) and they even did a number completely unplugged. Brandi never disappoints!
This was, by far, the best concert I've ever been to!...Brandi Carlile's an amazing singer, songwriter, musician.
Amy Ray was amazing as usual. Really into the show. I saw Brandi two years ago in NY and she seemed shy then compared to now. She was so into the show and she included the audience at all times. She had us harmonize with the band and did three acoustic songs, an acapella, and one song totally unplugged. and it was a BIG room but it worked. I loved it. She played for two hours!
I've been a huge fan of Brandi for a while now. However, I was totally unprepared for how amazing she would be to see live. From the voice, the band, the set list, the atmosphere...it was all amazing. The best live show I have ever seen. At $25 a ticket, there was no better deal around! This artist should be pulling in much more, and playing bigger venues, but you can tell she feeds off the intimacy of smaller spaces, and the closeness to her adoring fans. Go see Brandi before she explodes into the mega star she doesn't realize she already is! A lifelong fan!
Brandi's vocal range is just unbelievable and incredible. They may probably be the best band I've ever seen in terms of interaction with each other. They engage each other like no other and the audience can just feel the energy emanating from the stage. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this event as I was only passing by Baltimore!
Superb show. Great songwriting and production. Her vocals cannot be beat. She can do it all in such a believable way....rock, country, folk. Brandi and Co. is highly entertaining; high energy; kept audience wanting more. A must-see show.
This show was absolutely amazing! Like nothing I have ever seen before!!!!
Brandi's set at the Keswick was fantastic. She is just sooo good with the live performance thing - as comfortable with the stage and audience as she is with her songs.
I loved Brandi's music before, but the woman is clearly meant to be listened to live. The power and energy of her and her band's performance must be seen to be believed. You won't really be hearing the latest album until you hear it live, so if you are into her music at all, you owe it to yourself to see her at least once.
