BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

  • Concerts of a Lifetime/Parking Lot from Hell

by BB on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

We 3 Joni Mitchell & Brandi Carlile devotees flew from N. CA on Friday to Seattle and stayed in a hotel estimated an hour from the Gorge. The Saturday/Sunday concerts were absolutely amazing and the venue spectacular. Brandi was an extraordinary MC Saturday night surprising us with an incredible line up of artists. Sunday night with The Highwomen was entertainment of the highest order. The crowds were lovely and the venue as well. Saturday night's concert started at 7:20 and wrapped at 12:30. We didn't get back to our hotel until 4AM. Sunday night we left before the encore to avoid the previous night's mayhem to no avail. Despite photographing the location of our car both nights, it was impossible to find our vehicle due to zero visibility after dark and no clear markers of parking spaces. We walked miles (according to my pedometer) in the dark clicking our alarm along with thousands of others doing the same thing. After almost 2 hours we finally found our vehicle. With 25K people both nights, this venue needs to do a better job in their parking field to help customers locate their cars. It took hours to leave the venue and we all thought it was extremely unsafe to have this many concert goers behind the wheel at 3:30 AM because they couldn't find their car and exiting was so chaotic. Getting to The Gorge was a pilgrimage we gladly made for Joni Mitchell. The entering and exiting of the venue was unnecessarily exhausting and confusing and needs updating.

  • Excellent music experience

by MAD on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

I loved everything about the Joni Jam show as far as performances go. Definitely a highlight of my concert going experience. I am not a fan of the Live Nation monopoly that exists currently as it pertains to dynamic pricing ticketing via Ticketmaster nor the control of venues. It’s becoming cost prohibitive for so many. Love the music. Hate the system. Doubtful this will get shared publicly.

  • The venue and musical production was outstanding!

by Sher bear on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

The persons working the site were helpful in showing us to our seats. Checking in was easy and quick! Walking to and from the venue was tough for those with physical challenges, and handicapped restroom availability needs improvement. Lots of seniors and physically impaired,, needing reassurance and assistance. I would suggest using a ADA specialist to assist with planning for future events.

It was a great concert! Tanya was terrific and so was the Highwomen! It was the first time that we sat in the grass and it was a good experience.

  • Perfect weekend

by Alyse on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

You will not find a better concert than Brandi Carlile. I don’t think the staff at the Gorge was ready for the amount of people that would descend on them for Brandi and Joni so the parking line was a little slow, but overall it was the best concert. I never got the LiveNation QR code for pre-ordering food and merch to work on my phone but there were enough booths and vendors set up that I’d you wanted anything the lines weren’t too terrible.

  • Amazing night

by Amy on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was one I will never forget! The Gorge sunset was a beautiful backdrop. Food was decent, drink selection was great, bathrooms were clean, lines weren’t crazy.

  • Astonishing

by chappie on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

This may have been the best concert experience I’ve ever had. The music from Friday through Sunday evenings was amazing, with Brandi Carlile leading the charge. But it was made that much more special by all the opening acts, as well as the guests. Annie Lennox was transcendent. Brandy Clark was incredible as well, and then they were Sarah McLachlan – wow. And how do you even start talking about Saturday night with a three hour concert by and for Joni Mitchell — truly a once in a lifetime experience. And then just to round out the weekend, Tanya Tucker blew us all away only to be followed by the Highwomen — fun, beautiful, inspiring. I’ve been on a musical high for the past two days since we left the gorge. Thank you for an amazing experience.

  • UNBELIEVABLE

I will never get over the amazement of this weekend. Brandi is my superhero and her golden touch on all three events is magical.
