BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

  • Amazing

    by c_dylankc on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

This was truly the most amazing concert I have attended in a long time. I have been to many concerts from super small to Beyonce. This venue, the guest singers, and the whole production were truly special, fun, and intimate in a way I have never experienced. If you can go see Brandi or attend The Gorge for any artist you will be happy.

  • Incredible live performance

    by S. S. on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlile at The Gorge Amphitheater is a concert like no other. Add to that the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Joni Jam and you can die happy. Ticketmaster and Live Nation on the other hand have a long way to go before I give them any good reviews. What a nightmare the ticket situation was for that. But the Brandi Carlile Band live are just incredible. Her vocals are unparalleled in today's music scene.

Brandi + Marcus + Allison + Annie + Sarah + Tanya ++ + (infinity) and the best of all... JONI What am amazing weekend... one I'll never forget. The Gorge is now my new favorite venue

  • Top concert and venue we've ever attended!!

by Koty on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

My partner and I flew across the country to see Brandi, a show we had anxiously awaited for from ordering back in October 2022. It sure did not dissapoint. Not only was her music and performance spot on, but the backdrop of The Gorge was spectacular, something we will never forget, and one that probably won't be topped!!

  • Concert of the Millennium

by Hippie Chick on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi and Joni and ALL of her Ahhhhmazing women friends/performers were INCREDIBLE!! Months of excitement and anticipation culminating into the Most Iconic and Epic Concert of the Millennium!! There was so much Great Energy...Love and Kindness Everywhere.....Magical. My Biggest concern/complaint is in how to better accommodate those of us with health challenges of all kinds.....it was easier sitting on the lawn at the top for myself and my whole group as we were closer to the bathrooms. Sunday night we had seats in the lower level. This was Not a good experience for me in either direction....you need way more golf cart type carts to get us both up and down that massive hill! I know you Think those screens are Big but not when you are sitting at the top of the lawn...ALL Merch should be prewashed cotton OR your staff needs to explain at check out that it will shrink. Cause the expensive Joni hoodie my wife bought, has now become mine as it shrunk 1 whole size. Granted it worked great for me but she's very disappointed.

Best weekend of the year by far. Best fans and best venue

  • Great time ... not great ADA accomodation

by Nikki on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 3 out of 5

My experience at the concert (I was there for three consecutive shows). When we arrived we were barely directed to our RV site and drove around (as did several other RVs) for about 10 minutes before I gathered the other RVs and one of the drivers walked to find someone to help us. Once we got that assistance everything went really smoothly. One of the friends we were meeting needed ADA accommodation. We were all shocked by the amount he was expected to walk every night (he was told "if you can walk you have to walk." Despite the fact that he walks with two canes and that the fatigue caused by the distance was exhausting and debilitating). The distance and terrain wore him out and it took several of us to get him to a seat. The shows were terrific, the sound was great, and we had a good time.

  • Joni Jam

by Cindy on 6/14/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Yesterday I was so privileged to see my idol Joni Mitchell headline a concert for the first time in 20 years. For me she is the best singer songwriter in pop music. Miraculously she has recovered from a brain aneurysm. She had to relearn how to speak, sing and walk. Joni sang wonderfully and was in good spirits last night. Her friends performed her songs as tributes to her. Sarah McLachlan sang a beautiful rendition of Blue. I loved Wendy and Lisa’s version of A Strange Boy and Celisse singing Help Me. It was 3 hours of magic. So worth the long pilgrimage to Seattle and a 3 hour drive in the rain and darkness to the Gorge Amphitheater.

  • Incredible!

OMG, what a great event. The setting was spectacular, Brandi and her band were fired up, they played with a ton of emotion and it truly felt like they were home playing for their 'extended family'. Well done, thank you for a wonderful experience.

  • Tough entry, amazing show

    by K on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 3 out of 5

The concerts were amazing. The camping was amazing. The artists were amazing. The staff was amazing for the most part. The two hour line to get in Saturday night was rough. This happened last year with Stevie Nicks.. Except not nearly as bad.. And I was told things would be changed so it wouldn't happen again. What seemed to be lack of training with security was tough. Some lines allowed food.. Some lines made you throw it away. Anytime you asked a question about gate times or entrance info, you were given a different answer. I do understand the Gorge is in the middle of nowhere and it's not like out venues.. But I've been to many sold out concerts and have never had waits like this. I don't understand why this is always such a difficult process at The Gorge. I did appreciate the dogs at the campground entrance though. Gives you a sense of security.

  • chaotic scene, where was the planning?

    by E. H. on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 2 out of 5

This show was sold out for many months and yet the event hosts did no planning to accommodate the masses that arrived, and provided zero support measures for the gigantic crowd, so figuring out how to get in and which line to join so we cold get to the entrance was total chaos, the lines converged and diverged, and many folks lost their patience and started cutting the lines, causing confrontations with people who had taken the time to figure out the situation and were waiting patiently on the super long lines to get in, while standing in blazing hot sun. I saw literally no event staff or crowd control people until we got into the venue. Leaving was also chaos, and was in the dark, there wasn't enough lighting to help you see where to put your feet, but at least there were a few staff available to help direct the incredible flow of traffic toward the parking lots, campgrounds, etc. It was a great show but the almost total lack of crowd control around the venue was a major minus. I'll avoid seeing another sold out show here in the future.

  • Concert was great, seating was awful

by EC on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 1 out of 5

We loved the concert. However, we paid for section 101, row 7 seats and due to sight lines were not able to see the artists stage. Why would you sell tickets where you can’t see the artists. Knowing that we would not be able to see would have changed our plans. It felt disappointing and disingenuous by live nation to sell us seats without notification of the sight line issues. Especially after spending hours online when tickets were released and being so excited for the show. The artists were amazing, our live nation experience was awful.

  • Exceptional weekend. One of my life’s best musical experien

Loved all the acts for three days. LovedBrandi! Love banter loved music

  • Brandi was amazing, the venue, not so much.

by Robin on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlile was amazing, the Joni Jam a one of a kind experience, and the Highwomen outstanding. But other than the views, the gorge amphitheater and campground need huge improvements. It is like Live Nation has not invested any money they make back into the venue itself.

  • Epic Joni Jam

by Olive on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing concert. Maybe more outlets selling Merch, when I went Joni was sold out as initially major lineups. Some better driving control on the way out it was mayhem but part of the experience of a pilgrimage to see these amazing performers.

  • Echoes in the canyon

Fantastic. what else can be said? Brandi and all she brought with her were perfect!

  • All the music was magical -venue needs work

by KNutt on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

All three nights of the music was magical beyond one’s expectations. Each night in its own special way. The historical set with Joni Mitchell was a lifetime highlight of concerts. Now as to the venue, we had Big rig Gold w power, absolutely no complaints on how that went. Entry was smooth. Bathroom Facilities were very clean, and trash was picked up routinely. Some suggestions improvements: Some concrete benches along the entry line route and seating routes for disabled and tired people to rest on. Concrete benches would withstand the elements. Install a handrail in the middle of that steep, steep hill to the reserved seating area. More signage needed to guide people to the right parking lots, and areas of entry, also more areas of entry if at all possible. Also some signs in the parking lots, at least on the row ends to help people locate their car after dark. I heard many concerns for the ADA needs, lack of access for wheelchairs, poor lighting in areas, pothole in pathways, all potential for falls. I understand that this is a summer only usage event center however minor improvements would make a difference. All the people working were doing their best, everyone was friendly, I hope they get a decent pay for standing / working in the sun all day long. I will go again if Brandi Carlile has another Echos through the Canyon festival.

  • So thankful for this opportunity to see my favorite artist !

by Anitamstoltz on 6/13/23Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Thank you Brandi for facilitating this event! It was a reunion of best friends from high school. 44th year reunion was stellar and more than we could ever ask for seeing our queen Joni getting into her groove and delivering the stories we lived by. Emotions ran high that night. Annie Lenox brought us to tears. And Sarah was perfect! I have realized from this experience that this is the next step of the circle game. What a beautiful night. Thank you!
