BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:
Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

Brandi and friends (Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan, Marcus Mumford, Brandi Clark) Friday, Then Joni Jam with Saturday ( add Joni Mitchell) and Sunday Brandi and the Highwomen with Tanya Tucker. AMAZING. I'm still watching videos and reliving the show. Thank You Brandi for the opportunity to witness this !!!
Making seniors with obvious mobility and stamina issues walk to end of line!! Stand 45 minutes in sun!? Accommodate.
An amazing and magical night of music and memories. And the venue is absolutely gorgeous. Watching the sun set over the gorge and watching Joni sing, who could have asked for more, we were happy high on this show for days. So glad we went. The venue is a bit difficult to maneuver. It was Disneyland crowded with lines snaking around and long waits. I wasn't able to get merchandise because I decided to stay with the music rather than wait a long time in line. Overall thought, magic!!!!
Brilliant friendly and warm first concert by Joni in over 20 years at the iconic Gorge Ampitheatre, accompanied by some amazing artists and covering Joni’s entire career, unmissable.
Brandi Carlisle is a beautiful human - incredible voice, generous to her band mates and caring toward Joni Mitchell. To be honest we came for Joni and left as fans of Brandi. Annie Lennox? YEAH!!!!!!!! While the Gorge is a beautiful location, we were glad that we stayed on site in an RV and didn’t have to manage the horrid traffic. Will forever remember this experience!
I was so excited to see Brandi and she did not disappoint. I was moved to tears by all the performances. I can't wait for next year to see her again. This will be one of my new traditions.
The concert was excellent. The venue is outstanding and the overall admission process went well. The only suggestion that I can make is that there seemed to be a lot of confusion about which line to stand in. Perhaps, more designated employees to help guide people would be beneficial. I noticed that few people, although provided, read the signs.
The shows were phenomenal. The artists are brilliant. The venue and its staff violated federal law in their treatment of disabled people. My wife has a mobility disability, and ¾ people in our house are neurodivergent. ADA and its many interpretations are things we are very familiar with. The lack of communication is the first issue. We were left standing in the sun without any communication of how long the wait would be, or any way to sit or move out of the direct sun. We travel a lot. We are excellent at anticipating needs. But we need to know what to expect in order to do so. My wife called LN and the Gorge directly multiple times prior to the show to prepare for what we would need and what to expect. The communication was inconsistent and flat-out wrong, when she could reach anyone at all. For context, we just returned from a trip to Disney that involved over ten miles of walking each day, and she did not have a recovery period needed afterwards. This is because of communication, largely, and because of anticipation of what will be challenge points. Obviously the Gorge — where I have been attending shows since 1995 — is different. But that it left my wife unable to attend the third night of our tickets because of pain and exhaustion caused by LN’s poor planning is a choice by LN. If you need help on identifying issues for disabled people, I would encourage you to reach out to people with different disabilities. We are very good at meeting our needs and finding workarounds. However, under federal law related to public accommodations that is not our responsibility. It’s yours.
One of the most inclusive and most awesome experiences we have been a part of
3 days of excellent music. Brandi has done it again. Over the moon
I have been following Brandi Carlile for several years and my husband bought me a ticket for my birthday to see her at the Gorge in Washington State. I was a little perturbed at first because I didn't want to travel that far and I really wanted to just see her with the twins and her band not with the HighWomen. He made the right choice. From the opening act of Tanya Tucker to the last encore it was phenomenal. The venue was gorgeous (although it was LOT of walking) and everyone in the band and all the musicians were the best. Best concert EVER!!
The security was solid and I felt safe, the bathrooms (deluxe outhouses) were great. Nice hand washing stations and water stations to fill my bottle. Biggest disappointment was the food. Absolutely inedible. I got a garden burger for I think $18 and first they gave me a regular cheeseburger. Then they took that back after giving me a clueless look like “whats’s the difference?” And for me the difference was that the garden burger came with lettuce, pickles, and onions whereas the regular cheeseburger didn’t. I eventually got a three day old dried out unidentifiable thing on top of a nice bun with zero condiments. When I asked them they again looked at me blankly and basically said “we don’t really work here”. The coke was good. They were cheerful enough but very untrained and the products were gross. Pretzels stale. Popcorn gone. Açaí bowls watery and gross, smoothies best option but watery.
Brandi Carlile gives ONLY positive vibes at her shows, and the love at the Gorge for the music, for her, for each other and the gorgeous location was so prevalent! I was very sad I didn't snag Joni night tickets, but The Highwomen and Tanya helped me remember that we have so much hope to hang onto and reasons to keep expressing joy. And to keep singing! I can't imagine a better vibe at a show--I want all shows to feel like this! (same as last year with Sarah McLachlan and Brandi).
Everything about this event bag did not disappoint. Great solo performance and the venue made it quite intimate. Will definitely see Brandi Carlile again and I will spread the word to friends about the Capitol Theater.
TBH I don't know where to begin. But Brandi knows how to bring a weekend of live music like Bruce Springsteen and the Grateful Dead combined.
difficult to see the larger ..???? screen.. some of the performers were not visible on the screen, as they are too small. especially during the Joni Jam.. the main performer was only visible, not the whole band
NO ONE is working harder in the music industry than Brandi Carlile right now. Her passion for bringing it to her fans every performance is palpable. She loves the people that come out to see her, is humbled by their presence, and gives them a show that is memorable. From ballads to rocking out, she can do it all. Her band is THE BEST. The Hansroth twins, Josh, Matt, and her string players are fire.
The venue is beautiful and stunning, and the show was that times a million. My only criticism is of the lack of amenities to keep all of the seniors waiting in line all day safe from heat stroke. No shade, no misters, no people walking around giving away or selling water, no medics or staff with radios checking on people. I witnessed at least one older person with heat stroke. This needs to be kept in mind for concerts in warm weather with older crowds.
She ROCKED!! TANYA TUCKER ROCKED!! The venue is gorgeous and the ladies performed better than o could have ever imagined
