About

BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

I was a little disappointed w/ the opening act but thought his voice was beautiful. Lacked energy. Brandi however, is always engaging and her energy is unmatchable. She commands both stage and audience and I look forward to seeing her everytime she is in this neck of the woods... amazing... this was my second show.

  • Awesome show in intimate theatre

by JennaDQ on 2/8/10Pollak Auditorium - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

I love Brandi Carlile, so it would be hard for me to NOT find any show I go to of her's amazing. We had excellent seats, the theatre was small, and the house wasn't even filled! I was shocked! Anyway, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the crowd: they were so quiet I didn't feel comfortable getting rowdy lol Overall though, if you love BrandiC, you would have loved this show.

Intimate venue was great. Brandi engaged the audience and put on a dynamic, impressive show. Easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

  • Brandi is Brilliant!

by NJFanofmusic on 2/6/10Pollak Auditorium - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

Hard to believe but she sounds even better live! An amazing artist with incredible vocals. The show was a great balance of ballads and original rock. She makes you feel like a friend by the end of the evening. Surrounded by an impressive band, no matter how long she played you'd want more.

  • Brandi Rocks !!!!!

  • Snow or not, Brandi Carlile is like no other!!

by evenso69 on 2/6/10Pollak Auditorium - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

Even with the biggest snow storm looming, I drove 2 hours to see Brandi and the terrifying snow bound southern trip home at midnight was well worth the trip. Brought someone who had NEVER heard Brandi before and they are now a fan! I hope Brandi plays closer to Phila more often but I will make the trip again anytime! Refreshing, confident and talented. She has a wicked sense of humor too. My friend was amazed at her talent and voice. I would love to see Brandi at a venue with better acoustics to showcase her voice and music -- (The Tower, The Media Theatre, The Keswick or the Wilmington DE Opera House).

  • Long drive, totally worth it!

I was really excited for the show, I was waiting for a long time to see her. The show is amazing, the harmony among the band members is incredible. Brandi is awesome, she plays really good, her voice is even better live and the sound system was really good too. I can't wait to see her again!

Thought the show was great. She's a great performer and her band is also great. Was surprised she didn't fill the house; although I don't think everybody knows aabout her. She's a great new find on my music list!!! Have all 3 of her albums and hope there's more to come. I go to a lot of shows of various artists and it was the best show I've seen in a while.

  • Amazing

by Jen3117 on 2/6/10Pollak Auditorium - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

Gregory Alan Isakov opened and was excellent. It was nice to see him with his band this time around. It was another amazing performance by Brandi and the band. They were full of energy and Brandi was very talkative.....I could have listened all night. The theatre was nice (and small, which is intimate).

  • What an amazing voice, and talented band

by joe657 on 2/6/10Pollak Auditorium - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

This is a singer/songwriter who has a great voice, selects/writes terrific songs, and has a band that perfectly complements her talents. We completely enjoyed the show and look forward to seeing Brandi develop into a major artist. I suspect we won't be seeing her at places like the (very nice, but small) Pollak Theatre too much longer.

Brandi Carlile rocked last night at Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University. Soulful. Beautiful Voice. Haunting lyrics. Tons of rocking energy. She's a true artist. Tight band. All three of her albums are masterful - and how many times can you say that?

  • The Extraordinary Voice of Brandi Carlile

by rlages on 2/6/10Pollak Auditorium - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

The perfomence of Brandi Carlile and her band was far beyond being a special treat...It was a banquet of spine-tingling vocals and meticulous instrumentation, melded by gracious synergy with the audience. ..Truly a remarkable experience that I hope to be part of again; Brandi Carlile, live.
