BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

This was simply the BEST concert I have ever been to. They looked great. They sounded great! The venue was nice because it was small and intimate. I would see her again in a heartbeat!

Loved her! Didn't like standing only in Culture Room. Didn't expect that. Also, show time showed 7:30, but she didn't start til 9:30. Stood 4 hours in one spot. However, Brandi Carlile is more than talented. She was awesome. Thanks.

    by Erika22 on 2/22/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi is such an amazing performer. She is always surprising the audience with something new and making sure that everyone has a great time. She has incredible talent that meshes perfectly with the rest of the band. I would not miss this show! She's an amazing singer and performer and progressively is getting more and more impressive! I can't wait for the next show!!

  • Amazing as usual

    by jtaylor34 on 2/22/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to several Brandi Carlile shows and this one was easily one of my favorites. I love seeing her in small venues but a lot of times that means she doesn't have much space to move around and perform. This wasn't the case at the Culture Room.

  • Brandi Carlile was amazing!!

by Anonymous on 2/22/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlile put on an amazing show!! I was most impressed with how she played songs from all of her albums (new and old) and did a few extra songs just for fun. Come back to South Florida soon!

  • Aurally Stimulating!

by USCHeatherD on 2/22/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Brandi Carlile a few times now and her voice is always clear and crisp. She's developed great show-womanship....I haven't seen her in a smaller venue like Culture Room in years....Only negative was the amount of people packed into the Culture Room. I think such a packed room takes something away from the show itself.

  • Brandi Carlile- best female performer ever!

by moonchic on 2/22/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I went into this concert already knowing I was in for a treat. I had no idea that I would be so completely blown away, though. I've seen alot of concerts, but I have to say that she is the most amazing live female performance you will see out there- bar none. This woman has the most flawless voice I've ever heard (and in these days of auto-tuning and over-production, that's alot to say). She also knows how to work the crowd and get people involved in the show. I can't wait until she makes it down here again. I know this was her first time down in South Florida, and it is rare to see such talent down here. Couldn't be any better than it was. So. Much. Talent.

  • Brandi rising!!!

by Aranthama on 2/22/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi Carlile is the real deal, great song writer, amazing performer, beautiful voice with a range from the angelic to kick ass rock and roll. Best of all, this rising star, really knows how to put on a show that left the audience hi on music and satisfied with a fresh, enthusiastic performer, who left it all on the stage. From the acapello opening song, to the spontaneous unplugged rendition of one of our favorites, to the few but incredible covers of Dylan, Beatles, Cash and Hank Williams. She resurrected "The Times Are a Changing" and sang the best version of this '60s standard that I ever heard. Her band is awesome: from the surrealistic twins on guitar and bass, to the cello-pianist, to the kick ass drummer, they play a crisp, clear sounds - soft and sentimental when needed and then rock the house with searing guitar rifts. Brandi is no longer Seattle's best kept music secret. So, if you want to have a memorable music experience, go hear her whenever you can, buy all of her albums, especially Story and the new one. This way, you'll able able to tell your kids, yes, I saw Brandi when she was a rising star!!!

  • Brandi Carlile and Band rock the Culture Club

by LoveMyInky on 2/21/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

This show was absolutely amazing. Saw her in Carrboro a week ago and again in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday. Both shows were awesome. She and her band most definitely deliver. Love the unplugged Dying Day. She rocks covers of Dylan, Elton and Cash. But my fav. were her originals. Loved "I Will" in Carrrboro and "Hide my Heart Away" which is a hidden track on "The Story" album and was a special fan request. Loved Looking Out at both shows but especially with Amy Ray in Carrboro. Their voices blend so amazingly. The twins; Phil, Tim, Alli and Josh...all incredible talent....just a perfect package. Both venues were packed...standing room only...everyone loved her!!!

  • Great Event!

by StCharles on 2/21/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I knew from the first time that I heard her album 'The Story', that Brandi had a great voice. But, I never realized just how good until hearing her live. Her live performance surpasses her recordings. A very crisp, sharp and effortless singer!

Fantastic Performance. Brandi commanded that crowd from the onset and totally put on a hell of a show. Would definitely go and see her again.

  • What a voice!

by Cocolocoblondie on 2/21/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

When Brandi first started singing, I thought it was a recording because her voice was so clear and perfect. Then, I realized she was singing and it was beautiful. Great concert. I highly recommend seeing Brandi Carlile.

  • Brandi is a true artist.

    by Brandifan64 on 2/21/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

Brandi's instantly recognizable and soaring voice is supported by a highly talented and versatile band. Singer, song writer and overall excellent musician, Brandi also knows how to endear herself to her audience and be an entertainer. I have always loved Brandi's honesty in her music but I am blown away by the total package that is Brandi Carlile. She deserves a wider audience and greater recognition.

Awesome show that was well put together, The band was tight knit and the venue was perfect. Played a good mix of old, new, and covers.

  • Brandi Carlile-Do not miss her shows!!!

by julievball on 2/19/10Capitol Theatre - ClearwaterRating: 5 out of 5

The voice: Soaring and soulful. The band: TIGHT. The playlist: Something for everyone...from aching, slow acoustic to rocking singalong to JOHNNY CASH for Chrissakes! What a show! And for an added bonus...out steps AMY RAY to warm up the crowd! What a great night! Even the lighting was exceptional...The Capitol Theatre is a great place to see a show.

  • Brandi is a dynamic performer.

What a beautiful voice Brandi has! The Capitol Theatre was the perfect place for the concert. I will definitely go back to shows there.

  • by Anonymous on 2/15/10The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

The whole concert from Katie to Brandi was totally awesome. At one point they went accustic and the only complaint is that you couldn't hear in the back. I absolutely loved the cello players!!!! We did try to say Hi at the bus but the bouncers made us leave after already waiting 45min.
