BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:
Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

It was a beautiful night as far as the weather goes. I was at the show with a good friend of mine and we got to our seats a little bit early and we were happy with their location. We were only in our seats for a few minutes and my chair broke. I motioned to an usher and was provided a new chair. It was an awkward start to the show. I thought Brandi Clarke sounded great and I enjoyed her lyrics .Brandi Carlile seemed to be having issues with a cold and maybe wasn't at her peak performance.
First, the weather was perfect for an outdoor concert - The heatwave lifted and we enjoyed mid-70's with a nice breeze. Second, the venue (Breese Stevens Field) was surprisingly big; there were plenty of food and beverage vendors; and several good choices for seating. The front half of the field was barricaded and only reserved seats between it and the stage. On the back half of the field was general admission, where people could bring blankets to sit on. There were also stadium seats along one side. We splurged for good seats up front by the stage, and were not disappointed. Finally, the concert itself. Brandy Clark and her two band members, one on guitar, one on a huge stand-up bass, opened the show. I had never heard of her until I heard a duet of hers with Brandi Carlile. She has a powerful voice and a great stage presence. We thoroughly enjoyed her set. And then it was time for Brandi, Phil, Tim, and Josh, along with the "Sista' Strings."We have enjoyed listening to Brandi Carlile for several years and did see a solo (Brandi only) concert last year, but seeing the whole band was so much fun! They all have a good time up there. Brandi was so upbeat, and friendly. She sang all the #1's, along with several cover songs. Brandi is an amazing entertainer, and her music is so relevant. You can tell she enjoys these smaller venues too. What else is there to say? It was a perfect performance at an exceptional venue. We highly recommend seeing one of her concerts. Worth every penny for those center-stage seats!
Brandi was so joyful. Her show made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes as well. It was just such a fun, uplifting, and inspiring experience.
Brandi and Brandy were great. Brandi did such a long set including older and newer songs which was wonderful! The sound was excellent even in a big open setting. She was lively and engaging and really sounded amazing. It was neat that she brought Brandy back out and sang their track Dear Insecurities together. Overall a very good show, I would see her again and I would recommend her to others.
Loved her! Loved her guests! Loved the crowd and the venue.
Great venue, great weather and of course Brandi!!!
Her concert is as good as it gets!! Great singer/entertainer she was fantastic!
concert awesome, I want to see less seats and more room for standing close to stage. I don't sit during high energy concerts along with many others.
She and the twins are always a great time and the energy they brought to Madison was no exception. 5th time seeing her and I'd definitely go again!
Brandi Carlile’s performance filled us with joy! She and the other musicians make you feel like you’re one of the family. Excellent sound, fantastic lyrics and fun in between. Breese Stevens Stadium is an ideal venue for intimate performances in a stadium setting. We couldn’t have asked for a better summer night!
Brandi was one of the best shows that I have ever been to! Great sound and performance! 10/10
Breese Stevens Field is a GREAT venue. The setting and the sound are wonderful. The staff and the concession options are great. Law enforcement is very visible and it's just a fantastic place to see a show of any kind. Brandi & the band put on a stellar show and Brandy Clark proved to be a perfect start to the evening.
I went in knowing this was a dream show for me. Well, Brandi exceeds expectations. She is real. She is raw. She is honest. She is relatable. She is insanely talented. Her music touches your soul. I am so glad I went. This one is one for the books.
Everything about the contest made me feel like home.
Brandi live is amazing. She is so energetic and genuine. Her band of great. I wouldn’t hesitate to se her again and again.
Brandi Carlile was amazing in her music and her audience interaction. Such a pro yet her every word feels truly authentic. Brandy Clark, who opened and also came on stage with Brandi for two exceptional performances, was a delight, one of my all time favorites artists. I traveled for this concert so I could see them together!
We went and saw Brandi Carlile at Brees Steven’s Field in Madison WI. The venue was an outdoor multi use sports field which turned out to be an amazing spot for outdoor concerts. The acoustics were great and the city lights added a neat atmosphere once it got dark. Brandi is a great performer who you can tell through her music and story telling absolutely loves what she is doing. She connected with the audience and just put on a great show with her band. I can’t wait to see her in concert again
We see a lot of concerts, and Brandi Carlile is one of our all-time favorites. It starts with the crowd. We became friends with everyone around us. Photos taken together. Arms wrapped around each other dancing to extraordinary songs. This is what Brandi and the twins inspire--a better world, where strangers are kind to one another, see a potential friend rather than an enemy. And the music!!! Just wow. They BRING IT every time. Plus, the intimate venue made it a special show. Thank you, everyone in attendance, for making it such a wonderful memory that we will enjoy for years to come!!!
What a great show. My first (definitely not my last, time seeing Brandi live. I’ve never seen such audience reaction to a performer. The 3 plus minute standing ovation when Brandi walked on stage was a first for me. As this was a solo performance I got to really appreciate Brandi’s instrumental skills as well as her amazing voice. The show was two solid hours of entertainment including a surprise duet with Catherine Shepard (Brandi’s wife). The Tiles Center is a beautiful venue with no bad seats. I do wish they had a policy of seating latecomers between songs. Other than that, a perfect evening.
