It was a really fun weekend with great performances from the musicians. I felt it was well organized. But the right hand stage sound system was terrible. Many people complained about it.
We had the best time at the Beach Road weekend. Even the unknown acts were awesome!
The music was good however ‘shade’ MUST be provided (without having to pay over a thousand dollars to get) somehow, some way. 3 occasions I had to take my husband to the medic tent to sit in front of a fan to bring his temp down. I also felt the heat of the day and would’ve liked to get out of the sun every so often. Maybe shade tents???
It was a beautiful setting and area but there were no shaded areas due to the previous day’s weather. There was nowhere to sit unless you brought your own chair/blanket. We had the sandbar tickets and there was only one air conditioned bathroom when they could have used 2 or more. It was trashed by the end of Saturday. It was hot enough outside that we left the festival to spend money on drinks/food elsewhere to sit inside with AC for a hour or so. We also found a tree with minimal shade outside the festival and we sat there as it was one of the only options for shade. Lastly, they needed better options for food and non alcoholic beverages. The bars were everywhere but we had to go searching for a soda. Didn’t seem fair to the sober attendees.
Bands were great, location and organization was great and overall we had an amazing time. The only big area for opportunity was the sound. The mix seemed off, on the first day it was really bad and the base almost lifted you off your feet and drowned out the music, especially during caamp. Lots of the artists seemed to be struggling with it during their sets. Still this is a great setting and was a good lineup so I would recommend going in 2024 as the sound is fixable.
Friendly workers and lots of space, great sound system and lots of amazing musicians. It couldn't have been better!
Well-manamged festival with adjacent stages, so no lag time between sets. Great venue with plentiful food and beverage and merchandise options. Only constructive critique would be the addition of a hot coffee vendor on a cold, rainy day.
Attented the last 2 years, and looking forward to 2023. Great lineup, crazy good bands, excellent sound. Great food, beverages, vendors. Plenty of space to spread out in the GA section toward the back with big screens, or go close up front with the crowds. Two special sections with upper decks if you can splurge for it. Everyone in a great mood. Really well organized. Great location. Squeeze in a tour around Martha's Vineyard while you're here. LOVE IT! I'm hooked. ❤️
Music was great. Especially Friday and Saturday. Music on Sunday was a bit slow. Should have been high energy to close festival. Food and drinks were great. More shade canopy’s needed. Bus schedules were had to figure out. I hope to find a cheaper place on the island next year. Back and forth on the ferries was a bit much.
- great musical line ups, views (& toilets!) - no guaranteed seating in sky deck made for a few tense moments around big acts in the evenings as people jockeyed for seats and limited snacks - sky deck worth it for me — I sunburn easily and have bad knees - we had issues picking up our wristbands; these got sorted out by staff - transportation is a BIG issue
Great time in one of my favorite places. Great music, the volunteers were awesome, plenty of port-a-potties, great food choices, lots of drink stands, smooth lines when there were lines, everyone was friendly and happy to be there, overall a really well run show! Can't wait for next year!
I loved being immersed in music for three days with a big crowd of other music-loving people. I had Skydeck seating for all three days which was in many ways nice. However, the food was terrible , much better on the ground where I bought some instead of eating at skydeck. On the deck the food was all fried ( and not good) except for the shrimp which was not fried. I was surprised that at the price of the tickets the food was so bad. Plus it was not always available, bins filled only twice a day( just as well, considering the poor quality). VIP ticket holders should be able to have assigned seats. My biggest complaint, however, was the lack of Black, Brazilian, and other multicultural music. The audience was all white and except for Lettuce, so we’re the bands. That seemed really off and was big disappointment. I myself am white but like most true music lovers, I love music from many different cultures! Martha’s Vineyard has a strong Black community, amazing Brazilian community too. Yet their music and culture were not represented at all, including food. It was guitar guitar guitar white all the way. Why?
Despite the above positive attributes, there were some concerns. 1. Buying official festival chairs was inconsistently enforced and seemed driven by re-capturing the festival's cost of the pre-purchased chairs, not the height of the chairs. 2. Construct clearly demarcated walking lanes through crowds. 3. Terrible lack of timely notifications for schedule changes.
The first day of the weekend was great and the sound was good. The Avett Brothers were wonderful and sound system seemed wot be working well. The second and third days of the weekend the sound was off and it was difficultl to hear the lyrics and banter of the performers no matter where we stood. The bass and drums were too loud. We were disappointed not to be able to hear Emmylou Harris and Wilco. The venue was easy to navigate and it was easy to check in as well as exit.
The line up of musicians ws great and the first day of the concert weekend was excellent. The Avett Brothers in particular had great sound. The second two days of Beach Road Weekend the sound system was off and it was difficult to hear the lyrics. The bass and drums were too loud no matter where we were standing. We were really disappoinited that we couldn't really enjoy Emmylou Harris and Wilco in particular. The venue itself was easy to enter and exit. The food was good and facilities easy to navigate.
The festival had a heck of a lineup, but the sound the first two nights was unbelievably bad. Avett Brothers, Billy Strings, and Beck's sets all suffered from sound that was so muddled and poorly mixed that the songs were sometimes difficult to recognize. I had been hoping to see Beck for a LONG time, and I walked out midway thru his set because it was impossible to enjoy given the sound quality. I should note that by Sunday night it seemed the sound problems were fixed and Jason Isbell and Wilco sounded much better. But what a disservice to the artists and fans on the first two nights. Truly a huge bummer.
Overall had a great time. Bands were awesome. My only issue was with the Venue itself. I purchased chairs last year and they would not let me bring them in again this year. Even though they clearly said Beach Road on them they were not allowed. I find this completely unacceptable. Why should I buy a new chair every year! How many chairs do I need? I think this policy needs to be revisited. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way based on the pile of chairs that weren’t allowed in. Please reconsider this policy for next year
Lots going for it: nice size, pretty good line up, well organized. Given the diverse nature of Martha’s Vineyard it felt like it catered to a specific part of the potential audience. More diversity please.
The festival was beautiful but expensive ($12-$15 canned adult beverages). We bought GA+ because it was advertised as a place to chill and view both stages. Well, that wasn't true at all. We could not see both stages. That was a bummer. We did however like the lineup, the staff and the free water and soda's provided. It was a nice festival. We just wish it could have been spectacular.
