  • Great experience all around.

    Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • left a lot to be desired

by concert lover on 8/30/23Rating: 2 out of 5

I only gave it a two because there was a lot that could have been better:the sound system was not good, way too much base so it drowned out the rest of the band and the singer(s)...unless of course they were playing only acoustic and then it was fine. At least 3 bands in a row on Saturday that enjoyed long guitar riffs and with the sound system, not good listening. Because the venue was flat, acoustics again and you could never see the band except if in the crowd right in front or on the screens. Been to many festivals where the venue is on a hill so that is not an issue. And, the majority of the food vendors were on one side so people were crammed in and it became very hard to move around on that side of the venue. When the music was listenable, it was good listening but that was not the majority of the time sorry to say. And for those prices, should have been fabulous every day.

  • Awesome time

Insanely good lineup, varied (but expensive) food selection, no logistical problems getting in or out. Loved the hydration station and the shuttles although I wish you could’ve purchased a one day shuttle ticket, not just a three day.

  • Very good lineup, crowd down from last year

by Mark Mo on 8/30/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I liked a lot about the Sunday line-up which included Alvvays, Dinosaur Jr., Regina Spektor, Japanese Breakfast, and Headliner Leon Bridges. I’ve been to a few of these and was a Lilly’s disappointed in the diminishing crowd. I think the price is cost prohibitive for some and wish they could reign it in. There were some added parks like water station I hadn’t noticed before, and roving drink salespeople with coolers on wheels (for those who didn’t want to miss a minute to catch any bands. ). The short time between stages was great and the day was fine weather wise. Overall a fun day of live music, just wish it was a bit more affordable for more people.

  • Awesome festival

by Such a great festival on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

It was wonderful! It was great music, and chill atmosphere

  • Mostly good experience

    by MV23 on 8/30/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Venue got it together a bit late with rainy weather and mud control. All bands sounded great Fri & Sat but Sunday the sound was AWFUL literally standing at the rail & could hardly hear the bands until Last act Leon Bridges! Drink & food lines were bad on Friday, seemed better by Saturday. Food was good but way too expensive. And if you're gonna put on your website all these requirements for size of chairs & blankets, than you MUST STICK TO IT AND TELL PEOPLE NO! Wish the ferry ran a 9pm ferry back to woods hole. Had to leave before last act was over or wait an hour & 1/2 for the 9:30 pm ferry.

  • Many thanks

An exceptional three days of music. Very grateful to have this opportunity to enjoy music on MV.

  • Excellent venue! Great day of music

This Beach Road event was so well organized and had such great and diverse music groups. Plus the drinks were delicious and the food really good for a music festival! Such fun

  • High bass but quality acts

by CMNC on 8/30/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Great venue, really good acts. Was part of the beach club for the weekend and thought food and drinks were spectacular. Only thing that was odd was the bass levels in the sounds for most artists on Friday/Saturday. The levels were so high it was distracting from the singing. Most of those artists didn’t need big bass in their songs, so it impacted the overall experience.

  • Beware the package details!

    by J. on 8/30/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Sigh. I wanted this to be so good. We got an off-island package gifted to us. Unfortunately, the ferry was listed as an add-on (our gifter did not see this) and we were out of luck for the first day because the ferry was full. Now, why on Earth was that not included, I ask you? How else was someone staying off island getting to the festival? I know they wanted to not give sticker shock, but it's WAY WORSE when you realize that, too late, you must shell out for the ferry AND another stay at the hotel because they did not include the 3rd night in the package. Not may folks would be up for a full day at the festival, an hour ferry ride home, and then 2 hours plus driving home that night. Add to that non-existent signage for catching the shuttle (another $50 per person) at Oak Bluffs and erroneous signage held aloft by staff at the end of the day at the festival. The venue itself was smaller, which is nice, but has no natural shade. On Day 3, they finally put up some sail shades, but Day 2 is when we really needed it. They had a very nice hydration station, which we appreciated, and porta-potties were in decent shape with no lines. Lines for drinks got pretty long at times, but not outrageously so. The food was good - maybe more healthy options and veggie options would be great, too. DO NOT stay off-island for this festival. It's just not worth it when you total up all the extras.

  • Fantastic island festival

by Jules on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The 2023 Beach road lineup was superb, with local favorites like Dispatch, returners like Caamp and megastars like Mumford & Sons, Patti Smith & Leon Bridges. Staff were friendly & helpful, food and drinks were great and the whole vibe was really fun. Hope the Vineyard encourages Beach Road to stay!

  • Too crowded Saturday

by Queenie on 8/30/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Better last year and not enough shade Liquor too expensive

  • A hoot & a holler with 50 good bands & one surly one

by MsGreenTea on 8/30/23Rating: 4 out of 5

This was my first Beach Weekend and it did not disappoint--even with torrential downpour on Friday and heat exhaustion Saturday. The lineup change on Friday did not affect the experience, though the sound quality sure did. Kevin Morby's set was killer...except the tinny, far-too-loud sound quality that not even noise cancelling earbuds could cancel. By the time John Hiatt got on, it was mostly better, and Head & the Heart sounded amazing. Speaking of H&H, I am from Seattle, and they were so humble and gracious. Their sound and vocals were tight and alright. Really, the entire weekend was blessed, with two other standouts: 1) Mike Benjamin & Friends are a DO NOT MISS and should be part of the lineup every year--on a big stage. 2) The backup vocals for Leon Bridges were so amazing (a woman whose name was garbled and Branford Marsalis!). It was such a shame that the camera stayed on Leon almost the whole time. Share the stage and some glory, Bro. Bon Iver was an amazing show. So was Cory Wong and Japanese Breakfast, two bands new to me. Cory's sound and St Paul & the Broken Bones had similar sets. Sad that Mr Mumford was a churlish prickly pear. Really bad form. For everyone. Keep your classist issues to yourself, especially when you travel by private jet yourself. And respect children and families, sir. You will never be a famous or expert enough musician to keep a fanbase with the way you behaved on Saturday.

  • Another great Beach Road experience

by WKD on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Just like last year, we had a great time at Beach Road. Fantastic line up of artists, and despite some challenging weather, everything went off as planned. The first two days there were inexcusable delays in opening the gates. And the shuttle service is overpriced. But the food and drinks included in the Beach Club are super. And while the cushioned seating in the Beach Club afforded poor sight lines (as well as two annoying big yellow cables partially obstructing the view from pretty much any angle, it’s still a great way to see a ton of acts. And LOVE the sandbar front of stage access!

  • Well run, so much fun

by Blind squirrel on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Second year at Beach Road. An awesome festival that also “forces” you to spend time in one of the best places on earth. Amazing lineup. Saint Paul and the Broken Bones, The Head and the Heart, Regina Spector all gave fantastic performances. Mumford and Sons was next level - they were worth the price of admission by themselves. (Like Beck last year.) Extremely well run, tons of food and drink, and very little time between acts. Making plans for next year!

  • Beach Road Weekend Is Magical

by JohnBattelle on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Perfect venue. Intimate, great vibe, great lineup(s). I hope it keeps on coming to the island

  • An absolute blast!

by Terry on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Such a well run music fest! Great food, awesome music, and so much fun! I had tickets to the sandpit and it did NOT disappoint. Loved the private area with private bathrooms, bar and concession stand. (might like more food there too but cannot complain). Even with a rainy Friday we had so much fun - hats off to the staff - they all worked so hard and were so friendly! One of the BEST RUN music events ever attended.......see if you guys can help the people responsible for Sound on Sound in CT!! THEY NEED IT!!

  • An outstanding Vineyard event!

by MV Music. Fan on 8/30/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I have been to a prior Beach Road Festival but this one was superior. Beautifully organized, excellent lineup of performers. Leon Bridges, Patty Smith, Japanese Breakfast, Bon Iver were standouts. Regina Spektor was a real disappointment. She would have been great in a small piano bar, but even her beautiful voice didn’t cut it with her meaningless banter and lack of a backup instrument section. Dinosaur Jr was horrible. This event really makes the Vineyard even that much more special and we must keep this Festival going! Thank you Adam Epstein and team.

  • Great venue, well-run concert, excellent music

by JessH on 8/30/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I thought the venue was great and set up easy. I wish the food & beverage lines were shorter at times. I also thought the bathrooms needed hand washing stations instead of just antibacterial gel in the toilet area. The music and all the bands were excellent!

  • Good line up, not so great health/safety precautions

by Mo on 8/30/23Rating: 3 out of 5

So overall it was enjoyable for me to see all of these great acts but unfortunately the lack of shade on Saturday gave my friend heat stroke so she spent half the day in the medical tent and decided to stay home and miss Sunday. The sound MVY stage was improperly set up, which caused a horrible reverb you could feel 500 feet back. Even with hearing protection it was difficult to stand remotely close to that stage at any point. I ended up needing to leave early on Sunday after my charge brick was stolen and no public charging facilities were available to GA attendees. I wouldn’t have been able to use my bus pass to get home if my phone had died.
