  • The Nutcracker

by Samantha on 12/10/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was amazing! I love that they did story time beforehand, this helps when bringing a small one ahead of the performance. I did come with a kid and wish someone had offered me a booster, I did not know they were available until too late. It would have been helpful to have it offered. There was also some phone usage in the theatre that I wish staff had tamped down on because even a small moment really takes you out of the whole experience.

  • Nutcracker Review

by Tes on 12/10/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

First time to watch ballet with my daughters. Orchestra was phenomenal atleast, First part was quite boring and very slow. 2nd part is much better. I was expecting more lively performance the entire show. Atleast it’s worth the shot watching for the first time. 😊

  • Breaktaking and magical

It was a wonderful experience! I can’t wait to go again next year!

  • Beautiful as usual

by Kit on 12/9/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

A staple of the Edmonton Christmas season. It’s a truly magical experience that everyone clearly put a great deal of work into, and I’ve never been disappointed. I do wish there was an adults only performance as some kids have a hard time sitting still through the performance, but that’s more to do with parents then the actual performance.

  • Different…

by Nissa on 10/30/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

This ballet was weird! LOL very creative and the dancing was beautiful but strange. It was worth the $130 in tickets though. My daughter loved it.

A great evening out! Intriguing costumes, thoughtful choreography.

  • Emotional experience

by Chelle on 10/29/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Everything about this performance stirred the emotion: the music, the dancing, the visual background. It’s so wonderful that my adult daughters and I can travel to see a quality performance only a couple of hours away from home!

by Janet on 10/28/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying the first two ballets performed by Alberta Ballet in this new 2024/25 season. Each was enjoyable, creative, and well danced.

  • Amazing!

by RCH on 10/28/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I was very impressed with Grimm by Alberta Ballet, the technique, strength, music, sets and choreography were outstanding, not only telling a a mesmerizing story, but taking you along for the ride the entire way. It’s refreshing, creative and exciting in every way possible, great job Alberta Ballet!!

  • Alberta Ballet's Grimm without a grimace!!!

by Adam F on 10/22/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

The world premiere of Alberta Ballet's Grimm on opening night in Calgary, was highly anticipated and in many ways, it did not disappoint. The dancers were amazing as always and often the choreography required them to really know where they should be and when because the music wasn't what you would have expected. They were definitely on point for this performance. It was a darker mood for this ballet, primarily because of the music. There were times when it felt upbeat and what one expects; especially when the groups were on stage. It was a great feeling to see the in-sync dancing and the heavy beats in those instances. I wholly disagree with the warnings that were put out to the public about it not being suitable for children or based on themes. It was totally unnecessary and I think gave some people the impression that there was going to be more on stage than there was; this was not really a PG rating ballet. Overall, I'm always happy after a performance at the Alberta Ballet and look forward to the rest of the performances coming up this year.

  • Outstanding

by No name on 10/22/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I gave the Alberta Ballet’s world premiere of Stefania Ballone GRIMM a standing ovation as I thought it was phenomenal! GRIMM was beautiful, uniquely dark in parts, exquisitely danced and produced; and magical. Thank you for an outstanding aesthetic dance experience!!!!

  • Amazing

It was such an interesting and mind blowing experience. I'd recommend it to anyone that enjoys ballet and loves the darker side of fairy tales

  • Stunning performance

by PJ on 9/23/24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Congratulations to the Alberta Ballet for their stunning performance of La Sylphide! I had no idea of what to expect and enjoyed every moment. As promised, this production could hold its own against the best in the world. Thank you for a beautiful night!

  • Exquisite Performance

by Beth B. on 9/17/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This performance was delightful in every way; the dancing was outstanding, the costumes lovely and the tone that the Artistic Director set with his pre-show comments was informative in a fun way. Totally enjoyable evening.

  • Boring and bad

by Jenn on 9/16/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

The choreography was boring and basic, there was more arm gesturing than footwork, and the sets looked very low-budget. Also there was entirely too much talking before the show. I understand thanking the sponsors but there’s no need to go on and on about everyone who contributed including the office staff. That is what the programs are for.

  • Fantastic program & dancers

by Raechel on 5/9/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The program captured and kept your attention in every way, the choreography, music, lighting, as well as the skill and stamina of the dancers. So glad I made a 3 hour trip to see it.

  • Pure emotion

by Mrs. Theroux on 5/7/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I brought our 11 year old and we experienced every note through him. First with Der Wolf, Felix was transfixed. He was shaking, he was hiding from the wolf, laughing with the trees, the music, the set design the dancing, the drama, he was sweating and we have never experienced ballet the way we did with him that day. Next, the Rite of Spring, we have been putting him to sleep listening to that record since he was small, the abstract nature and intensity of this piece lulled him into a mesmerized trance. Thank you. It was the final night of the show and the only thing we worried about was more people weren’t able to take part. If we could make these experiences more available to students our city would grow into a more creative space to live.

  • Creativity at its best

by Julia on 5/7/24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This double bill delights the eyes, ears and mind. From ballerina “trees” dancing to the beat of K.D. Lang to exquisite precision in Rite of Spring, Alberta Ballet shines bright. What a treat!
