Great experience. Was my first show and it didn't disappoint. Amazing cast and show.
I am always in awe at the end of the night when I have watched the professionalism and artistry of the ballet company. Der Wolf and Rite of Spring was one of those nights where I wasn't sure what to expect and that is exactly what was delivered; the unexpected. Der Wolf was really showed how well dancers can deliver the same story three different ways and each was entertaining. The Rite of Spring was powerful with an ending that was really unexpected. I always go on opening night and I'm in the front, so I can see the effort put into each step. There were a few instances where I noticed a dancer was a bit out of step with the others and it did have a ripple effect on the dancers behind her. But I guess when everything else is so well done, a little thing can become noticeable. I'm happy to have seen the entire season this year and really looking forward to the upcoming season, which looks to be another great year of dance for Calgary. Thank you Alberta Ballet for a fun year!
I really liked the show, it was amazing. Colors, good decorations, music and general atmosphere were just stunning. I don't know a lot about ballet and I thought I wouldn't understand a lot of things, but it was really worth to go. Will definitely go again :))
First time visiting the Alberta Ballet. I was blown away by the performance, the venue and the staff! THANK YOU SO MUCH! The staff were friendly and engaged, the performance was magical, the venue was lovely! I had awesome visibility in the floor level 'p' row. I could NOT believe there were empty seats. Get tickets and enjoy this wonderful take on Hansel and Gretal. I laughed and cried I so enjoyed it and will take every opportunity possible to attend again. I am blessed, Thanks again to all who made it possible. š„°š„°š„°š„°š„°
Hansel & Gretel was my birthday gift to my granddaughter as I had a tradition of taking my daughter to the ballet since she was a little girl. This turned out to be an amazing show! Perhaps one of the best I have ever seen. Production was spectacular & I am so happy that this was my granddaughter's first show as it will be a favorite memory for the 3 of us for years to come! Great job Alberta Ballet!
The ballet was so much fun! Loved the interpretation of Hansel and Gretel
Our 10 year old granddaughter is a dancer. This was her first ballet concert, she was so excited!! It was wonderful to watch the performance while watching her. I will never forget it.XO The young dancers in the lobby were wonderful and very kind, as were the ladies at the gift table. Look forward to going again.
Wonderful performance in 2023. Best choreography I have seen in many years. Highly recommended for parents to take their children for a great Holiday season experience.
The story is difficult to tell in ballet form and went on far too long. It was over at the end of the 1st act.
Very good performance, but expensive, I paid $150 for 3 of us. Expensive for a family of three. Art should be accessible and affordable to all Canadians.
I think itās very sad to leave us older folks behind with the exclusive use of computers. I had to have help to get the tickets on my phone and forget downloading the program. Even with the help of the usher , it would not work. The ballet itself was lovely.
Veryy good dancing seats are small and close together though
What a brilliant performance this year. The set, costumes and dancers were absolutely amazing. Highly recommend.
Well done, professional, highly entertaining, fun, puts us in the Christmas spirit. Loved the photo opts in the lobby, the decorations and holiday spirit. Keep up the great work and thank you for all the excellent efforts.
We loved the music and dance- both were so well done! Congrats to the performers! What made our experience less enjoyable was the audience- with many distractions throughout the performance. The ushers should not let the audience members into the auditorium during the middle of a performance, and wait until the appropriate time for audience members to come and go. Using flashlights to find their seats was distracting to the audience nearby. Also there should be reminders at the beginning for cellphones to be shut off or silenced. And parents with small children should be mindful of the people around them, and keep extra noises to a minimum. They should leave the auditorium (at the appropriate time) when necessary. This is basic etiquette which really can make a difference in the overall experience for those around them. Please send this review to the ushers and staff at the auditorium.
Beautiful dance , stages, and costumes. BUT the dream was too bland. The costumes were all the same colour; could not tell that the dream was a dream. And the mice were boring. I have seem this ballet several times and there was never a question that the dream was a dream. There were 13 family with me who had never seen this ballet before, watched on youtube prior to ballet so they had an idea what this story was about, and the majority of them will never go again. AND the lady at the door made my family pay $40 for an 11 month old baby that would be held in his parents arms the whole time. That was shameful !!!
A great kick off to the holiday season. The physicality of the dancers, Costumes, and music was a festival for the senses. So well done.
Pre-show was extremely well organized. Loved the story time (Really helped to appreciate and understand the ballet). Loved the picture-taking with the Fairy Queen and that you received your picture immediately. Loved the pointe shoe display. The ambassador was so helpful and informative. The actual balletāmagical and wonderful.
The Nutcracker Ballet has been on my motherās bucket list since she was 9 years old. This year I was able to take her for her Christmas gift and it is one that neither of us will forget. We cried, we laughed, our hearts were touched by the music and movement of the cast. Thank you to you all for creating such beauty. And to all your families of the cast for your sacrifices to make them available. Merry Christmas!
The ballet was exquisite. Visually stunning and a truly memorable experience.
