About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

  • Simply an amazing show that keeps improving!

by Alex P. on 2/19/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This is the third time I seen the play, first time was in New Orleans when it first started, then San Diego about 10 yrs ago, and now this most recent time. The cast, the singing, the setup and effortless (appearing) choreography and story telling are simply out of this world (pun intended). Thank you for another wonderful experience!

  • Absolutely WICKED

by Bethany on 2/19/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Gifted my daughter tickets for Wicked for her birthday since she had never seen it. We went to the San Diego Civic Theater for the first time and loved the genuine feel of the theater. The show itself was absolutely breathtaking. Each and every actor had amazing talent. The costumes were all stunning and the props were perfect. If I could follow the tour around the country to experience it in each city with them then I absolutely would. And I can guarantee that my daughter will be seeing it again also.

This show and actors are magical. I took my mom and sister for a matinee show. We had the best time. The singing and acting was chef kiss!

by Laura W. on 2/18/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This performance exceeded our expectations. We were captivated by the performers and the staging. Everything was spectacular. We are still talking about what a wonderful performance it was.

  • So amazing

by Mom of a Broadway fan on 2/18/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I was moved to tears. I have seen the YouTube video and the movie but it was nothing like watching it on stage. The performers were wonderful!

  • Wicked - Very Good to Great But ...

by SDSlim on 2/17/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

This was my third time seeing the show at this venue. The costumes were amazing. The previous two times one of the leads absolutely made the show - that was not the case this time. Also, I really could not make out the words when the chorus was singing. So I am wondering if it was the cast, or other type of audio issue based on where on was sitting or some technical aspect. On the other hand, the normal "leads"were absent and being replaced by alternate leads (not understudies) - this would be good to know before purchasing tickets.

  • Engaged throughout the entire show!

by Jbrown on 2/17/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This was a Valentine’s date with my twelve year old daughter and I, and the show didn’t disappoint. We were both engaged the entire time, laughed about half the time and were just amazed by the set design, talented actors and by the fact that my daughter was engaged throughout entire show. I would see it again… and maybe again. Bravo!

  • Still Amazing

by Wickedness on 2/17/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 6th time seeing this show, mostly in San Diego. It was phenomenal! I've never heard such a loud crescendo of applause going into the intermission. The Orchestra was also wonderful. Start to finish, a great evening's entertainment.

  • 1st time to live theater in some time

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Can't wait to go again.

  • Awesomely Defying Gravity!

by Shell on 2/16/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was Awesome from beginning to end. Casting, lighting, staging, sound. Everything in the production was excellent. A fun exciting evening at the theater. Wicked was superb.

  • It was OK.

by LS on 2/16/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

This was my 4th time seeing “Wicked” onstage with a touring company. I was lucky enough to see the very first touring company and they were outstanding. Overall, this company was good but not the best I’ve seen. The actress playing Elphaba was terrific. I was very surprised to see in Playbill that she is a standby. She certainly has the chops (both acting and singing) to be the permanent player. The actress playing Galinda was OK but not the strongest singer or actor I’ve seen play the role. She was good at the comedy but didn’t do “Popular” justice. That is her big number and it was underwhelming. The rest of the cast was good, just not extremely memorable. We enjoyed the show.

  • Thoroughly enjoyable

by Kimo on 2/16/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed this production. From curtain to curtain it was fun and well casted. My only negative was the bathroom line at intermission even the pouring rain did not deter!

  • Wickedly Awesome

by JJ3 on 2/15/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The theater came alive with each scene. Finally exploding when Elphaba rose above the crowd with the light shining bright behind her, could not outshine her brilliant performance. Loved everything about the play and the magical evening.

  • Great show

by MonStar on 2/14/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Captivating show. Group singing was a bit hard to understand from the balcony. Individual voices were clear. Great costumes, props, etc.

  • Amazing first Wicked experience!

by Type B on 2/13/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I've only been to one play before and I knew absolutely nothing about Wicked going into this, so this was really a great first experience. The cast was amazingly talented, especially Galinda and Elpheba (the standby actress), and of course BOQ.

  • WICKED

by Jessica on 2/12/25Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This show is amazing! I always loved the wizard of Oz and for years I saw the billboards announcing that Wicked was in town and I always said, "I have to go see that"! finally I was able to go, and I made it a mother and daughter date night. The three of us had never been to this type of performance and we were all amazed and sat with our mouths open in amazement. The entire cast was amazing, the songs, singing, backdrop, and the entire show was the best show.

  • Girl's Night Out

by Nana on 2/11/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Took my daughter an two granddaughters, 8 and 10. The tickets were part of their Christmas gifts, and the 10 year old, especially, jumped for joy when she realized she would go. The singing, dancing and costuming was fabulous, and we all had such a great time! The production was something that made great memories for us and I'm so glad we saw Wicked on the stage. Loved, loved, loved. Kudos to all!!
