About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

by jerry on 3/18/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

Great voices in music but was in row 12 & could only make out approximately 25% of dialogue. My wife said she heard maybe 50%

This is one of the most enjoyable and entertaining performances we have ever attended. Every aspect of this production was simply spectacular.

  • Excellent show sound system needs work!

by Amy on 3/18/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 4 out of 5

The Cast & Show are amazing!! I’ve now been to several shows at Gammage & the sound system needs to be upgraded! The voices are muffled & not clear. Even with excellent hearing it’s very hard to hear over others whispering or laughing

  • Wicked

by Digi on 3/18/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

I saw Wicked 10 years ago and thought it was amazing. Currently, I found it to be too political for my taste, I dont think it was the same as last time but it might be because the current times are extremely politically charged . The singing and costumes were great , so if you can put the undertones aside go see it

Spectacular show - great singing & stage sets as well as unbelievable lighting effects (the best I've ever seen)!

  • Loved it!

by Patsyanne on 3/16/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

I purposely have not seen the movie and did not know the story behind "Wicked". I was not disappointed! The theater was wonderful, the stage sets just about perfect! All the actors were very good, but the two main characters were portrayed with excellence. The ladies voices were exceptional and the harmonies were on point. The story was woven with mastery as a prequel to the already well known "Wizard of Oz". The lessons to be learned were evident and it is as relevant in today's environment as it was long ago. The dialog is ironic, funny and real. All that and enormously entertaining and joyful! A new look at an old story. Loved it.

  • Wicked Awesome!

by Buzz on 3/16/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Wicked 3 times, and this is the best cast yet. Beautiful singing voices, the timing was spot on, and music was perfect. I laughed, I cried, and I was thoroughly entertained. I can't remember ever having a more enjoyable theater experience...

  • Excellent

Loved the stage, the costumes, the performances. It was worth the 6 hour drive.

  • A Wicked Waste of Money!

by MJ on 3/16/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 1 out of 5

Wicked was a huge let down. I expected elaborate costumes, breathtaking set design, special effects, and musical scores that would fill my head and heart. None of this at Wicked! The costumes were dreary and dull. I had not seen the movie or the musical before, so it was hard to understand both the dialog and the musical score. Honestly, I have seen far better Tony Award musicals.

  • It was an awesome evening

by Green team on 3/15/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Great seats and the performance was outstanding of this world

  • Disappointing

by Kim on 3/14/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

The play was fabulous. I was disappointed that people don't care enough to dress for these events anymore. There were several children in the audience, my seat was kicked or hit numerous times. People kept exiting during the performance. You could hear children eating snacks and chips. I will not be spending over $600 again at Gammage.

  • Grand show - terrible sound

by TERRY on 3/14/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 1 out of 5

The sound was terrible! We could not understand much of the dialogue or the singing. We departed at the intermission. The sets and costumes were just grand! The choreography and music were just great!

  • AMAZINGLY MAGNIFICENT!

by Rob on 3/14/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Both leads had tremendous vocal range. Their acting and comedic chemistry made this a “smashing success”! I am already looking for more tickets to see it again. EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE!

  • Dialog Lacking

    by Dave P on 3/14/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

The Dialog between characters was difficult at best to hear or understand, we were seated in the 6th row and still could not hear. Gammage seats need to be upgraded, old and uncomfortable. The rest of the show was great! singing, sets, and dance were all very good, audio for song vocals and pit were great!

  • Wicked Is A Musical Delight

by Gareth on 3/14/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Wicked brought the energy and amazing musical numbers to the ASU Gammage to the delight of fans. While the success of the movie which recreates the first half of the play brought even more awareness to the production, the music and story stand on their own. The most catchy numbers are during the first half of the production as the second act follows a typical Broadway pacing with more serious content where uptempo production numbers may not fit. The amazing vocal work and performances are not to be missed.

  • Wicked performance was better years ago.

by Liza on 3/11/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5

While I did enjoy the recent Wicked performance at ASU Gammage. However, the performance and props were not as good as several years ago. The previous performance included more characters, and adlibs that were funny. The singing was better, and the props were very nice previously. I’m not sure, but there was a large dragon prop on top of the curtains?

  • Loved it, but sound can be improved

by AnneW on 3/11/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

The Saturday 2pm performance was amazing. The actors were great, sets were unbelievable, but sound was hard to hear at times. First part wasn’t bad, but after intermission I had a hard time hearing some of the actors, which was disappointing. I missed some of the funny lines and they had some really funny lines. I did love it tho!!!
