About

Since premiering at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre in 2003, WICKED has been mesmerizing audiences and breaking records, becoming the second highest-grossing musical in Broadway history with over $1.4 billion in tickets sold. Composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book writer Winnie Holzman’s magical “untold true story of the Witches of Oz” has been nominated for 10 Tony Awards — winning three — including Idina Menzel for Best Actress in a Musical as heroine Elphaba. With a captivating score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity” and “For Good,” the WICKED cast album won Best Musical Show Album at the 47th Grammy Awards, with Time magazine cheering, “If every musical had a brain, a heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.” In addition to Menzel, the star-studded original cast included Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, Norbert Leo Butz as Fiyero, Joel Grey as the Wizard, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Christopher Fitzgerald as Boq, Michelle Federer as Nessarose, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond. WICKED is also the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history.

Wicked broadway show partial view seats

    by M. P. on 2/28/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

We bought our tickets on Ticketmaster’s website and I don’t believe that the tickets were marked or otherwise flagged/labelled as “partial view” tickets. If there was some sort of notification that they were partial view, it was not clear at all as I would have never bought partial view tickets. It was very very disappointing to take my 8 year old daughter to her first broadway show to see Wicked, which she has been so excited to see for the longest time, and for her not be able to see all of the show. Ticketmaster needs to do a better job of clearly notifying purchasers that certain seats are partial view.

    Wicked is a Phenomenon

by Theater mom on 2/28/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

Everything about our experience was incredible. The details of theme are carried throughout the Gershwin Theater so pre-show and intermission there is plenty to check out! The show itself was amazing and fresh, and it did not disappoint!

Second time seeing, still worth it!

by metatiger on 2/26/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

This is the second time I've seen Wicked, and it was still a great show. The venue is easily accessible and the staff are very cordial and helpful. The cast was great, as was the orchestra. We were in second row orchestra, which is a little on the close side, but I'd rather be too close than too far away. An overall memorable and wonderful experience.

Absolutely one of the best shows on Broadway

by Erin on 2/26/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

This show is mezmerizing from beginning to end. I loved every minute of it. The orchestra seats are very comfortable. There are some orchestra seats that are partial view so be careful of that. You do it want partial view for this show! dont be tempted by the cheaper price, pay more and get great seats. You won’t be disappointed

    Wonderful story

by queenkady on 2/26/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

I only knew this was the story of the wicked witch. What a great moral tale! Accept people who are different from you and be the voice for the animals! As a person who works with several rescue groups, I especially appreciated the animal aspect. We were fortunate to be in the second row and got to see all of the amazing details on the costumes. Everything about this show was perfect and I am still thinking about it days later!

Great play with some standout performances

by Lcmazzit on 2/25/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

After hearing so much about this show and not being able to catch local productions, we were very anxious to finally see it on Broadway. While it was very good, both my husband and I felt that the first half was a bit slow, but the second half totally redeemed it. Also, we unfortunately did not see the ‘real’ Glinda and while the understudy was good, I have to say she was not great. Who was great however was the actress who played Elphaba - in fact she was amazing and really carried the show. This is apparently her Broadway debut, and I feel very lucky to have had a chance to see her in this role.

Fantastic show. Loved all the effects! Great voices, wonderful acrobatic gymnastic dancers. Theatre at its peak. Loaded with all the real juicey theatrical stunts and enchanting drama that can only be experienced in real live theater. Saw this show twice! There is a lot to the story as well as the entire play production. Lots if fun

Overdue birthday gift for my wife. Took me a bit to warm up, but once Dr Dillamond came on, the entire show took off for me. Great cast, terrific musical numbers, awesome colors, and quite engaging story. The Gershwin Theatre is a terrific place to see a show, and quite convenient to other attractions. FANTASTIC

by Candlestyx on 2/25/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

We took two granddaughters, 14, and we all enjoyed the show. The girls knew the music and were singing it in the car on the way up, but they had not seen the show. They were mesmerized! We, the grandparents, really liked the premise and the lead up to Wizard of OZ. All around terrific.

by Dave T on 2/24/20Gershwin Theatre - New York

Was an awesome performance. Missed the beginning however due to a mix up on the start time. Thought the start time was at 8PM and it was at 7PM. I wish I had noticed the error sooner.
