About

Since premiering at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre in 2003, WICKED has been mesmerizing audiences and breaking records, becoming the second highest-grossing musical in Broadway history with over $1.4 billion in tickets sold. Composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book writer Winnie Holzman’s magical “untold true story of the Witches of Oz” has been nominated for 10 Tony Awards — winning three — including Idina Menzel for Best Actress in a Musical as heroine Elphaba. With a captivating score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity” and “For Good,” the WICKED cast album won Best Musical Show Album at the 47th Grammy Awards, with Time magazine cheering, “If every musical had a brain, a heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.” In addition to Menzel, the star-studded original cast included Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, Norbert Leo Butz as Fiyero, Joel Grey as the Wizard, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Christopher Fitzgerald as Boq, Michelle Federer as Nessarose, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond. WICKED is also the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history.

Simply flawless, amazing production. The cast was superb, the orchestra was fantastic. This was my third time seeing Wicked but the first time on Broadway. It was simply outstanding to see it in the famous Gershwin where it all started. My girlfriend was floored it was a surprise trip to New York and she had no idea that we were going to see a show on Broadway.

    Such a great show

by BryanBronx on 1/5/14Gershwin Theatre - New York

I loved it, I didn't expect it to be so good. It's a very cool take, or rather, alternate look at the mythos of the Wizard of Oz. Great acting, beautiful singing and a well done performance by the cast. Lots of laughs and a lot of moments where you're putting pieces together from the original story and going "ahhhh!". It's long, so dress comfortably and eat first, as the lines get a bit crazy during the 15-20 minute intermission. Nice sized auditorium too. Most of the seats seem decent enough to enjoy the show from almost anywhere it seems. I sat in the middle of row Y, back of the ground level, just in front of the sound guy and saw everything fine, though, you can only see the bottom half of the dragon, but that's irrelevant since it only does anything once during the beginning. My only complaint would be that the sound is sort of low, they should really consider a better surround system. Definitely a must see, take the family.

    Wicked Fun !!!

by JerseyRic on 1/5/14Gershwin Theatre - New York

Was thoroughly entertained... Not much of a Broadway Person took my daughter 18 Year Old.. She loved it also... Cast was great especially Glenda.. Left feeling bad for the Wicked Witch.... As the saying goes, " Things where different around her until Dorthy dropped in" Would recommend to sit further back as the set is elaborate and sitting close as I did you felt like your eyes where scanning more. Lower back area or upper front Mezzanine are probably better seat... Enjoy...

    Great Show

by Reviewit14 on 1/4/14Gershwin Theatre - New York

A cute, clever, funny, and entertaining show. I'm not a fan of musicals and went to the show because of my wife, but the show was actually pretty good. It didn't look like there was a bad seat in the theatre. Concessions were expensive (as expected) and the show was starting to get a little long for me (2.5 hours). However, as a non-musical person I thought it was pretty good. I'd recommend it for families.

    Wicked was WICKED!

by NerakKcin on 1/4/14Gershwin Theatre - New York

As I sat in the theater each act was great! I liked how all of the connections to the wizard of oz transpired. Alpha-Bee was particularly good and really made the show an event! I would definitely see it again.

Wicked gave me the experience of a lifetime!

by Anonymous on 1/3/14Gershwin Theatre - New York

My family and I went to see Wicked at my request, as I have always wanted to see it. There were absolutely no disappointments! This was the first Broadway my sister and have had the privilege to see, and the show was amazing. My grandparents loved it, my aunt loved it, and my male cousin loved it; this show truly is a family show. If you have not seen the show before, I highly recommend seeing Wicked the next chance you receive. The show was fantastic, and it is easy to see why it has been running so long on Broadway.
