Since premiering at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre in 2003, WICKED has been mesmerizing audiences and breaking records, becoming the second highest-grossing musical in Broadway history with over $1.4 billion in tickets sold. Composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book writer Winnie Holzman’s magical “untold true story of the Witches of Oz” has been nominated for 10 Tony Awards — winning three — including Idina Menzel for Best Actress in a Musical as heroine Elphaba. With a captivating score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity” and “For Good,” the WICKED cast album won Best Musical Show Album at the 47th Grammy Awards, with Time magazine cheering, “If every musical had a brain, a heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.” In addition to Menzel, the star-studded original cast included Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, Norbert Leo Butz as Fiyero, Joel Grey as the Wizard, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Christopher Fitzgerald as Boq, Michelle Federer as Nessarose, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond. WICKED is also the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history.

The Gershwin Theatre is located on 222 West 51st Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. There is no designated on-site parking. However, there are numerous parking options in the Broadway Theater District. Here's a link to a Google map display of the various options in the Times Square area.
Taxis can stop outside the theatre for drop off and pick up.
The Gershwin Theatre is close to the 50th Street subway stop. You can take the C, E and 1 lines to reach the stop.

WICKED is performed at the Gershwin Theatre on 222 West 51st Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue in New York City. Individual and group tickets for the show are available through Ticketmaster and the Gershwin Theatre box office.

The recommended age for children to see WICKED is eight and up, but the Gershwin Theatre welcomes patrons ages five and up. Children under the age of five will not be permitted into the theater. All patrons — regardless of age — must have a ticket.

WICKED has a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.
It was entertaining and even funny at times! Nothing scary so it’s good for kids too! (Age 8+ in my opinion because it is little long and younger kids won’t sit through it) Great stage props! The entire cast was extraordinary! My favorite character was Elphaba which was played by the amazing Hannah Corneau. She is deserving of a Tony Award! Her vocals gave me goosebumps! Definitely go see this awesome show! We had the best time!
What an incredible show. My daughters, 11 and 7 were completely mesmerized from the time the dragon came to life to the very last seen. The story, the voices, the unique choreography of the dances. Everything and everyone was simply amazing Wednesday night. Wish I lived there to come see it again.
It was better than I ever imagined! Wicked was the most spectacular musical I’ve ever been to! 5 stars is an understatement!

The show was absolutely beautiful. A must see if you are going to NY. We were disappointed, however, in the staff and venue at the gershwin theatre. As soon as the show ended, we had a very rude gentleman yelling “shows over, get out!” Over and over. While my sister was in line to use the washroom, another man yelled at me “no standing around, shows over now get out!” The gentleman wouldn’t stop yelling for one second for me to explain I was waiting for someone who was using the washroom. I understand they don’t want people standing around for hours after the show, however it is disappointing that after spending almost 500$ on tickets we were treated this way.

The acting, music and scenery were great. Our only complaint was our seating. We were in the very first row up against the orchestra wallboard The view was great, but the leg room was inadequate. Had we known this beforehand we (two couples) would have chosen other seats.
My mom, 7 year old daughter, and I saw this last weekend in NYC and it was absolutely amazing. We loved it so much. Ginna Mason as Glinda is adorable and funny and Hannah Corneau as Elphaba has the most amazing voice. It was better than we expected. Highly recommend.

Have always wanted to see Wicked at the Gershwin but we never had the time. I was not disappointed. We had a Great Time!!!!
Wicked was our first Broadway experience and it was more then we could have expected. Everything was on point, between the orchestra and percussion in the performance! Could not stop smiling the whole time. Such a lovely storyline and well executed!! I have already told so many people that it is a must see:)
I loved every minute of it! My first Broadway show, and it did not disappoint. The cast was awesome and the talent... WOW! Elphaba and Glinda’s voices were incredible!

What a performance! The act just before intermission was amazing. First time seeing the show and I am glad that eventhough it’s been on Broadway many years, I did not read about the storyline ahead of time. Very creative. I wish tickets and the trip to city was a bit more affordable so we could see other shows.
I absolutely love this show as it was the 3rd time I have seen it, but first on Broadway. Elphaba was absolutely incredible. The Defying Gravity scene alone is totally worth seeing this show. The rest of the cast was great as well, but those notes Elphaba hit will make your spine tingle! If you haven't seen it, you are missing out!!!
The show was absolutely amazing from the moment we took our seats until the curtain closed at the end. The cast was extremely talented and 100% committed to their characters. The sets were very detailed and really took you to Oz. I would highly recommend Wicked!!!! You will not be disappointed.
One of the absolute highlights of our whole trip to New York! I want to see it again tomorrow!!! It was simply phenomenal!!! Highly recommend it to anyone!
