Since premiering at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre in 2003, WICKED has been mesmerizing audiences and breaking records, becoming the second highest-grossing musical in Broadway history with over $1.4 billion in tickets sold. Composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book writer Winnie Holzman’s magical “untold true story of the Witches of Oz” has been nominated for 10 Tony Awards — winning three — including Idina Menzel for Best Actress in a Musical as heroine Elphaba. With a captivating score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity” and “For Good,” the WICKED cast album won Best Musical Show Album at the 47th Grammy Awards, with Time magazine cheering, “If every musical had a brain, a heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.” In addition to Menzel, the star-studded original cast included Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, Norbert Leo Butz as Fiyero, Joel Grey as the Wizard, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Christopher Fitzgerald as Boq, Michelle Federer as Nessarose, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond. WICKED is also the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history.

The Gershwin Theatre is located on 222 West 51st Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. There is no designated on-site parking. However, there are numerous parking options in the Broadway Theater District. Here's a link to a Google map display of the various options in the Times Square area.
Taxis can stop outside the theatre for drop off and pick up.
The Gershwin Theatre is close to the 50th Street subway stop. You can take the C, E and 1 lines to reach the stop.

The recommended age for children to see WICKED is eight and up, but the Gershwin Theatre welcomes patrons ages five and up. Children under the age of five will not be permitted into the theater. All patrons — regardless of age — must have a ticket.

Worth every penny! I would go back and see it again tomorrow if I was able to. First Act was by far the better of the 2 musically, but the second act does a good job wrapping up the story. Cant wait to come back to broadway, and any other show I watch will have a hard time living up to this.

I finally went to see Wicked and this was the highlight of my visit to NYC. What an amazing show. The cast were phenomenal. What a privilege to watch. Everyone should go and watch this show!
I used to love Wicked so I went there to Hannah Conreau as Elphaba, but they decided to use the understudy, I don’t remember who she was, she was a good singer but not good as Hannah, after that moment the show lost it magic. The actress who plays Elphaba (Hannah) always matter to me.
This was my 11 year old daughter's first Broadway show, and she was blown away. It was an amazing show, and we had great seats. We were in Row S, seats 101-103.
I took my wife to see Wicked for her birthday. The show was, as many have said, absolutely incredible. Everything about it was phenomenal, the acting, the singing, the dancing, the set design, the lighting was all perfect. I'd recommend anyone and everyone go see this show if given the opportunity.
It was the first time my family and I had been to see a play on Broadway. It was an incredible experience. We all agreed after we got back home that seeing Wicked was the highlight of our trip. We lost ourselves in the performance. The actors made us believe we were part of the story. The set made us feel like we were in the play. Overall it was one of the best performances I have ever been to. Thank you!!!
Very organized upon arrival. Drinks were reasonably priced. We were in row A of the mezzanine and the seats were perfect!! We had no problem seeing everything that was going on. It was one of the BEST shows we've seen this year. No spoiler alert here but be prepared to see how it all began. When you see the Wizard of Oz again(on TV) you will have a new perspective of it all. Just FANTASTIC!!!
My daughter (she is 11) and I went to see this show and we LOVED it soo much!! On the way out of the theatre she asked if we could go again! I highly recommend.
Rosie O'Grady for mimosa and Bloody Mary, Gallagher's Steakhouse for a three-course lunch, and then Wicked at the Gershwin. All three only one block apart. What a perfect afternoon for us!
We loved the play. The costumes and set were spectacular, the story was wonderful... the actors and production numbers were phenomenal. Really loved our experience.
