  • TIFF50 - the Best Yet!

by CaptiveBooks on 9/9/25Scotiabank Theatre Cinema 13 - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The city of Toronto was once again a welcoming oasis for all things film - the perfect setting for TIFF50 and its fans. Most impressive, even surpassing the incredible venues themselves, is the cadre of volunteers who are the absolute best in terms of training, knowledge, situational awareness and positive attitude. Logistically this event is 100% on point which ensures everyone can be assured everything will go super smooth. Meanwhile, the film selections and industry participation was excellent - something for everyone. Keep up the great work!

  • A joyous event

by Theodor on 9/9/25Visa Screening Room at Princess of Wales Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We saw EPIC: Elvis Presley in concert and Uiksaringatara (Wrong Husband) . Both events were well attended with people associated with the films present and receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.

  • Love the movies…getting tickets is a headache

by Kate on 9/8/25TIFF Lightbox Cinema 1 - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The buzz at TIFF is exciting. I love escaping into the movies and the Q&A with the actors and directors adds to the experience. The process to buy tickets is NEVER easy and I’ve been coming for around 15 years. I think I lose a year off my life each year, when buying tickets. I even bought a membership this year, even though I don’t live in Toronto. Tickets sell quickly (even though I’m online the moment they go on sale). Then more tickets appear the next time you try. It’s very stressful…there has to be an easier way!

  • Great Experience

  • TIFF 2025

by Jojo on 9/8/25South Fan Zone David Pecaut Sq - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I had a wonderful time at Tiff and it was my first time ever coming. I am from the USA and I am a screenplay writer. I love movies and this was an excellent experience. I wasn't able to see many movies but I did see the Lost bus starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera and it was excellent. I met a lot of nice people and really had a good time and saw some famous people. I am hoping to one day have one of my movies in the Tiff. Definitely would love to come back next year God willing.

  • Great film and wonderful experience

by Katar on 11/19/24TIFF Lightbox Cinema 3 - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The movie was so amazing and eye-opening to the struggles of migrants in France and other developed countries. We got to meet the director and it was really an incredible film experience, highly recommend.

  • Thank you for the great experience

    by Reviewer5 on 9/18/24Scotiabank Theatre Cinema 11 - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I had a great experience watching the films. This is a well-organized festival, with incredibly diverse and rich program. They also showed the democratic and artistic principles of the industry during the controversy around "Russians at War". They didn't cave in under the pressure of some politicians and ensured public safety for everybody, despite of threats and protests. Big respect to TIFF organizers!

  • Terrific Toronto - fanTastic TIFF!

    by Captiv8 on 9/17/24TIFF Lightbox Cinema 1 - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Everything from the initial emails alerting us to the festival to come in the following year, through the selection of the films, the ticket purchases themselves, the movies, the Q&As, the Midnight Madness experience and finally up to the email notifications about the winners was FANtastic! The venues were wonderful and the volunteers, oh my goodness, if only every nonprofit could have a staff like TIFF does, what an incredible world it would be. I can not wait to come back next year - THANK YOU!

  • Frustrating

by Fern on 9/17/24Scotiabank Theatre Cinema 3 - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The ticket purchasing process is confusing and cumbersome. I did not get to select the movies I wanted to see and got stuck with alternate features that were not very good. The process has been made more complicated by the third party in the mix. Go back to a simpler process. Considering not renewing membership.

  • The best atmosphere

Such a fun time. Everyone seems so happy to be there and the festival has a great energy

  • Getting Tickets Next To Impossible

by KathyP on 9/17/24Royal Alexandra Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

As a regular Individual Member very few tickets available by my pre sale date. Got most of mine through another member who had an even earlier pre sale. Great for TIFF but questioning value of my membership. Reserved seating was a game changer. Great change. All films I attended were excellent.

  • A dreamlike experience

by Hanly on 9/17/24Scotiabank Theatre Cinema 4 - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I watched a total of twelve films at this festival, and my favorite was "An Unfinished Film"(also known as "The Chronicles of China") directed by Lou Ye. The film documents scenes of China's pandemic control and authoritarian rule, which I have personally experienced. Fortunately, I managed to escape China and come to Canada as this catastrophe was nearing its end. All of this feels like a dream. I am grateful to TIFF for screening this film; it is more than just a movie—it is the collective memory and trauma of our generation of Chinese people. It allows us to remember the cries and humiliation, to confront fear, and to overcome it. I will return to the festival every year from now on, hoping that the art of making dreams will never fade away.
