Great show, well orchestrated and performed by both the dancers and symphony. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn’t gone yet! Definitely will make it a holiday tradition going Forward.

  • Talented Artists sharing the Christmas Spirit

by CstL on 12/26/22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

What talented artists! Beautiful costumes, wonderfully choreographed and beautifully danced. What more could you ask for. A very classy rendition of a classic ballet.

What a tremendous pleasure it was to see such a serious and honest rendition of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. The ballet was stunningly gorgeous, whimsical, magical, and jaw-droppingly impressive. An event that I will from now on attend every year.

  • Christmas tradition

Opening act was a bit of a snooze. Second half brought more technical dancing.

First of all, I will say the dancing was incredible. Beautiful to watch. For myself and our family, the Nutcracker is (almost a yearly) Christmas family tradition so I was somewhat disappointed with the dancers being showcased as a priority over the story itself. I would love to see the story of the Nutcracker capture the imagination of younger viewers as I believe the Nutcracker is a multi generational tradition.

  • Not quite the same

I’ve been going to the nutcracker for years and have always loved the performance. They had sent out an email saying they changed some of the show. While I’ll always the nutcracker and it’s magic the story and performance itself didn’t feel as ‘wow’ as it always had. I’ll always go, but will miss the old show.

  • Intermission Fail

by Kayla on 12/20/22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I was in the nosebleed section, on the top level of the Jubilee Auditorium, and during intermission, there was one bartender. At least 75% of the people that lined up for a drink, whatever that may be, were turned away because there was only one person serving. Honestly that's a big part of it for me, so I was really disappointed. No complaints about the show itself, probably just the venues issue.

  • Amazing!

by Jess on 12/20/22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful music, dancing, and storytelling, it was overall a very enjoyable experience! (And the costumes were excellent as well, I especially loved all the dresses in the first scene)

  • Magical

The Alberta Ballet creates magic every year and every year I think it can't get any better. But it does. The Nutcracker was an absolute joy. The magic they create envelopes you with the joy of dance and the beauty of the music. It is beyond me how these beautiful artists can dance and fly across the stage. Including the younger children is something I am sure that the future artists love. Thank you for the beauty and Merry Christmas.

Parking horrendous. No nutcrackers for sale. Line ups for beverages absurd. Missing a few elements to make it really special - especially for children.
