  • Not going again

by Bpschell on 12/14/22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

I read all the before you go info. No where in there did it say if you arrive on time you will be forced to sit in the back row for half the show no matter how much you paid for your good seats upfront. And the only reason we weren’t early if we have a big truck and all the little cars who had tons of room In the parkade decided to use the oversized vehicle outdoor parking so we literally just had to park in a no parking zone and pray we didn’t get a ticket or we would have been super late. Then I found and also talked to others who have read the nut cracker it really did not seem like it was following the story line at all. I hate to say this it was very boring as well. I am not a dancer but have been to many shows have alot of friends into dance and it’s usually fun and entertaining. I won’t be going again.

  • It was an awesome experience!

My first Nutcracker! I will definitely be here again.

  • Outstanding

by Beth B. on 12/13/22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best production of The Nutcracker that I have ever seen. The set, staging and costumes were great. It was so wonderful to have live music. I haven’t seen Alberta Ballet perform in a long time; they are greatly improved

  • Absolutely Breathtaking

by Katie on 12/13/22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

This year was one of my favourite performances yet. Almost all of us five girls, if not all, teared up with how beautiful the show was. The costumes, the dances and the music were all outstanding. Well done!

  • Not the Nutcracker I remember

by Jen on 12/13/22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The second act was completely changed from the original vision of this classical ballet. All of the national dances were replaced with candy dances. Choreography representing different nations was a signature of classical ballets of the time. I understand the desire to present PC ballets. However, I would have preferred a more true representation of these national dances than a complete removal of them. It just wasn't The Nutcracker for me. Too bad because the dancers danced beautifully...Jennifer Gibson danced the role of the sugar plum fairy exquisitely.

  • Bucketlist Seeker

    by L. L. on 12/10/22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

The music and acoustics were fabulous, staff were pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable, and I was pleasantly surprised at the 20 minute break in the middle of the performance. However, being in December, I dressed somewhat warmer and it was so hot inside, even after removing my coat, that I could barely breathe. Perhaps a bit of warning that the temperature will be a bit "toasty" would be in order. Also, although I was on the first balcony and couldn't see any details, I thought there would be screens so that all audience members would be able to enjoy it. Alas, nothing of the sort.

  • Beautiful

by Robbie on 12/22/21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The performance was breathtaking. From the dance to the costumes , stage sets to the orchestra. All exquisite.

  • The Nutcracker

by Cindy on 12/14/21Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

I’ve never been to the Nutcracker and it exceeded my expectations. I laughed and I cried throughout the performance. The dancers were fantastic and dedicated to their character. I’ll definitely be back.

  • Second have was disappointing compared to other years.

by Ricola on 12/8/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

Principal dancers were on stage too many times and Shumka dancers did not add anything.

  • very nice but...

by dental clinic on 12/8/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

Missed the Christmas tree scene. The main ballerina was too tall for the prince. There was no oriental dance like before.

  • Always a Great Christmas Tradition

by Jode on 12/8/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

As always, we like to kick off our Christmas with the Nutcracker Ballet and have been doing so for over 25 years. It’s always so wonderful to watch all the talented artists. My only disappointment this year was the elimination of the Chinese and Arabian dances.

  • Nutcracker

    by D. P. on 12/7/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

It was an awesome show, highly recommend! Added bonus was the ESO

  • Different from previous years

by JAN on 12/7/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Thought the stage and costumes were downgraded from previous years. Ushers should be looking out for those who use their phones to video the performance ruining it for those of us near them.

  • Good show

by Scobey on 12/7/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

With all the restrictions it was a good show. If you normally go to this show annually you will noticed some major things missing including the mice, snowflakes and it was a very short fight scene (disappointing). The costumes were amazing and a nice touch to include the Shumka dancers.

  • Music was great!

by Matt on 12/6/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I really enjoyed the music, brings back nice memories. The dancers were great BUT I found the actual story to be fairly boring. This is not on the members that participated though, they did a great job. I likely wouldn’t see the Nutcracker again but I would go to another performance.

  • Wonderful!!

by Keesad on 12/6/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The performance was outstanding. The dancers, the costumes were top class.. all in all a night to remember.

  • Rats recognition

by Adele on 12/6/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

ALL dancers eg: RATS deserve recognition at the end of the performance, NOT just the professionals

  • Great

by Adel on 12/6/21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

All dancers should be recognized not just the lead dancers, ie rats.
