About

The Hives are a Swedish rock band known for their energetic live performances and hit songs. The 2023 album The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons marked their first release after a decade-long hiatus. Led by frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, the band has a distinctive style that includes dressing in matching black-and-white tuxedos on stage. As for their sound, The Hives were an integral part of the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. With a lineup that has remained consistent over the years, including members like Nicholaus Arson and Chris Dangerous, The Hives have left a lasting impact on the music industry with albums like 2000's Veni Vidi Vicious and 2012's Lex Hives. "Hate to Say I Told You So," the first single from Veni Vidi Vicious, peaked at number 25 on the US Mainstream Rock Billboard chart.

    THE HIVES ARE THE BEST

by MATT H. on 10/25/21Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

The Hives' performance and showmanship was incredible. From beginning to end, they put on a show live no other - nonstop high energy and flawless. I wish they toured the States more often.

    The Hives Rocked St Pete

by Sean13 on 10/25/21Jannus Live - St Petersburg

They played 14 songs and all of them perfectly. They were dressed impeccably as well. Pelle’s voice was flawless and the band played superbly behind it. Do yourself a favor and catch them if they’re in your town.

The Hives are Swedens greatest export

by firedennis on 10/25/21Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

The Hives are the greatest rock n roll band in the world. They were hands down the best concert I've seen all year and one of the best shows ever. The opening band, The Alive, were inexperienced little kids and a waste of my time.

The Hives rocked - Great opening band too!

by Jo on 10/22/21Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Excellent show as it always is with The Hives. The opening band (The Mystery Lights) was excellent too. I would see TML again if they come to town.

Have fun with Per Almqvist and the Hives

by Beto on 10/22/21Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

The show was incredible, the venue is great to meet with your bands in a Pettit Comité. They are loud, fast and fun to watch. Per Almqvist comes and goes form the stage into the crowd, talks and makes a great show. Definitely repeatable.

Amazing, The Hives lived it up to my expectations!

by Arthur on 10/22/21Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Knowing they were one of the best live bands I went to the concert with high expectations, especially being the first concert post-pandemic that I attended. The energy was amazing, the venue incredible, I miss live music!

    The Hives-Pure Energy!

by TooSmooth on 10/22/21Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

The Hives are terrific showmen. Pelle was all over the place and he kept the crowd engaged throughout the show. Toward the end he came out to the pit area and was high-fiving fans. My only complaint was that it should have been a 2 hour set but outside of that nothing else.

The Hives had the audience on their feet and the floor!

by Scott H on 10/21/21Jannus Live - St Petersburg

The Hives delivered like they were playing for 50,000 people. Great music and great energy, especially for a Monday night. They worked the crowd like crazy, at one point they had the entire crowd sitting in the floor while the singer sat at the back of Jannus and talked to the crowd. Plus the ninjas!

    Super Fantastic

by Dave on 10/21/21Jannus Live - St Petersburg

This was my first show at Jannus and it is an awesome venue! The Hives played strong and Pelle was extremely personable walking out into the audience several times and even pausing the show talking and keeping our focus entertained! All of the band members played hardcore. The sound probably could have been a little bit better but they rocked it every song. They have so much good music it's a bummer to not here everything I wanted them to play but every song was killer. Wish they would have played maybe a couple more songs, I think they played about 90 minutes. Still a great show and tickets were very inexpensive.

One of the best live bands in the world

    by S. P. on 10/20/21

They are simply one of the best live bands playing right now. Without question the frontman Pelle Almqvist is an absolute genius when it comes to playing with the audience. He has everyone in the palm of his hand with the ridiculous amount of energy he brings out. Absolutely fantastic work.

Simply one of the best live bands ever

    by S. F. on 5/24/19The Pageant - St Louis

If you haven’t ever seen The Hives perform it is your loss. HPA and the band are high energy, thoroughly entertaining and will rock your socks off. This was my 10th time seeing the band since 2004 (they hadn’t been in the US since 2012). I have loved every show and will see them whenever I can.

The Hives really know how to put on a great show

by A Hives fan on 5/21/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

I traveled a from Miami to Philly for this concert and it was worth it. Refused were great but The Hives were fantastic. They have such a way with the crowd and really interact well with us. Hopefully they keep touring more in the future.

    50% more Hives

by Blue Waffles on 5/21/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

Hives set was tight as usual and they did not disappoint except that with encore their set was still under and hour. Could have used 50% more Hives and 50% less opening bands.

The Hives - Amazing Live Band, But..

by Joe von Blow on 5/21/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

The Hives played a killer 11-song set. Rocked out, even with a replacement drummer. They're one of the top live bands I've seen. However...start-to-finish, their set was barely an hour long. I expect a bit more from a headliner, honestly. Putting two local bands on the bill and letting them chew up time from 8:30 to 10p was a huge mistake. Refused did a very good hour-long set, but that put Hives on at 11:30p. Am I an older, suburban guy & biased against 11:30 starts as a result? Yes. But limiting the Hives time on stage was a disappointment. Hopefully for the remainder of the tour they'll start earlier, play longer, and give Hives fans like me what we want -- more Hives!

    Awesome!

by Beardrum on 5/21/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

For me and my wife was a great experience. As it was her first time in Philly. The last time I was there was many years ago (when I lived in NY) came down to see a show. The venue love it wow it has changed and improved!! The easy access using your phone to scan your tixs and many other things, I was commenting to my wife how it be awesome that all live nation venues had the same service and security(we have been to a few in NC),scan etc etc. The show loved it of course! We have been so pleased we will travel back if one of our favorite bands play the venue. It was a great experience. Keep the amazing work.

    Worth the wait

by RayH on 5/21/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

The second warm-up band was absolutely terrible, and the hives did not go on until midnight, so it made for a very long evening. However, once they did go on, TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT!! They were fantastic, and I’m so glad I finally got a chance to see them live! The venue was great, crowd awesome

One of the best shows I've attended

by Ollie333 on 12/4/13The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

This was my first time seeing the Hives and it was incredible. Great energy throughout the entire show, the singer was hilarious and had the audience in the palm of his hand the entire time. Near the end, he parted the sea of people like Moses, and ran down the centre of the floor (which was cleared for him by an obedient audience) and high fived everyone in the aisle. Played most of the songs I was craving, and just overall great performers. Really cool stage setup too!
