About

The Hives are a Swedish rock band known for their energetic live performances and hit songs. The 2023 album The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons marked their first release after a decade-long hiatus. Led by frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, the band has a distinctive style that includes dressing in matching black-and-white tuxedos on stage. As for their sound, The Hives were an integral part of the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. With a lineup that has remained consistent over the years, including members like Nicholaus Arson and Chris Dangerous, The Hives have left a lasting impact on the music industry with albums like 2000's Veni Vidi Vicious and 2012's Lex Hives. "Hate to Say I Told You So," the first single from Veni Vidi Vicious, peaked at number 25 on the US Mainstream Rock Billboard chart.

THE HIVES = IN YOUR FACE ROCK AND ROLL

by RocknRolla91 on 6/22/12The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

The show was amazing to say the least. The opening acts fit the bill with the type of music, they were the right type of music style and provided high energy to prepare the crowd for the mind blowing show that is the hives to follow. The Hives brought everything, the show was pure adrenaline and energy that was only interrupted by Pelle with hilarious quips, puns and statements that just brought the show to a height that almost no other bands are able to pull off. They played a myriad of of their greatest hits and allowed the crowd to be fully immersed with their new album LEX HIVES with a multitude of songs it.

    Fun with Hives

by DFMercerNJ on 6/22/12The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Firstly, great venue, easy parking, polite staff, enough bleacher seats in the back. This was my son's first real concert. He was in the very front of this standing room only event (except for said bleacher seats). He loved it. I loved it, The warm up bands were great but one would have been enough. The Hives were so much fun. The music was arena worthy! Cool crowd. Only a few parents. Since smoking is not permitted, I didn't have to worry about son being corrupted. I went to many concerts as a teenager and young adult, Dead, Aerosmith, Peter Gabriel, CSNY...... In Phila.,Hooters, Clash, Santana, The Who, all in one day! It was great to hear newer music. I hope son lets me go with him again. I did not dance, too embarassing if kid saw me.

    Hives was unbelievable

by Nick1112 on 6/22/12The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Sound at the e factory wasn't great, but the Hives, led by frontman Pelle, put on quite the show. Fast paced, it won't be soon forgotten.

    ONLY ONE REVIEW?!

by EGDV on 4/27/12The Argon Ballroom - Chicago

I don't think I've ever written a review before but when I saw that The Hives only had one, I couldn't resist. I saw them about 4 years ago and have been waiting with baited breath for them to come back to the states. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen (and I am a concert freak). Pure, raw perfomance and energy. A great show, and great music. It's absolutely contagious and I am sooo stoked to see them in Philly!!

    Simply Amazing!

by Vicrattlehead on 12/12/11Staples Center - Los Angeles

I saw them about 4 or 5 years ago and I don't know why I waited this long to write a review. They are an amazing band! They opened up for Maroon 5 and in my opinion blew them out the stage that night! They only played about 40 minutes but were very energetic and entertaining!
