Delightful! But NOT for children!
by JD Poe on 9/22/25Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5Very fun show! Deftly handles some cultural differences with humor and grace, but definitely not for children.

THE BOOK OF MORMON ON TOUR
The New York Times calls it "the best musical of this century." The Washington Post says, "It is the kind of evening that restores your faith in musicals." And Entertainment Weekly says, "Grade A: the funniest musical of all time." Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show calls it "Genius. Brilliant. Phenomenal." It's The Book of Mormon, the nine-time Tony Award®-winning Best Musical. Contains explicit language.
Very fun show! Deftly handles some cultural differences with humor and grace, but definitely not for children.
I really enjoyed this show and this cast/performance! A lot of shows attract a serious/older crowd, which is fine but this one brought a fun, young, lively crowd what was quick to laugh and refreshing. Some of the African stereotypes from the script were a bit trite but overall it was hilarious and unexpected. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The sound system at the Music Hall must be ancient. I did not understand half of the words spoken or sung. The play was still funny, but trying to understand the “Ugandan” accents was very difficult and the Salt Lake City guys were also hard to hear. The Music Hall should go the way of Barney Allis Plaza, a complete redo!
Seats were excellent center orchestra level , Performance was a A plus
Loved it so much the first time it was on tour that we had to see it again this time! If you need a good old fashioned belly laugh, Book of Mormon is a Must See!
The Book of Mormon actors and actresses created an entertaining and engaging experience for all. It was a wonderful night of laughter. Great production.
The show is very funny and so well written I just wish I was sitting closer and totally missed some of the jokes. The sets were very rudimentary and quite boring but the talent in the show distracts from it.
I enjoyed the dancing and singing. But, it is not for the over 60 crowd.
My fourth time and still awesome, fabulous and clever. Especially now as I have a huge Mormon family living next door. I will never look at them the same again!😂😂😂
A snooze fest. Really didn’t like much about the play at all. Very disappointing
Broadway San Diego hosted a great touring company of Book of Mormon. IT was nonstop laughter from the opening curtain on.
My 4th time seeing this show. The cast was perfect. I knew every joke but still laughed! However the sound mix was off and couldn’t hear all the words during songs even though I already knew them. This also happened when I saw Hamilton last month. Something is going on since I’ve been going to shows at The Civic for years and never had this problem. I hope they fix it.
I saw this show about 10 years ago and my recollection is that I laughed from beginning to end. My experience this time was feeling uncomfortable with occasional moments of amusement. The acting and all elements of the production were great, although it was hard to understand some of the time. It has just aged badly and makes jokes about things that have no place in a comedy.
The Book of Mormon was so much fun to watch! Incredibly talented actors and lots of laughs.
Worth every penny!!! Had a blast on my 2nd time going to see the Book of Mormon! A must see for anyone who loves a bit of dark humor.
Production was amazing!!!! If it comes to your city, check it out!!!
I knew it was going to be funny, but it was even more hilarious than I expected! Definitely some shocking moments, but shocking in a "makes me laugh even harder"kind of way. The actors were all absolutely amazing. The singing and dancing was 10/10. Overall, extremely enjoyable. I'm so glad that I got to experience it!
It was fantastic! Super energetic and engaging the entire time. So clever and entertaining. We laughed so hard at a time in this world where that feels rare. Can’t express enough what a good time we had. Would actually love to see it again!
I’d been listening to the songs on Spotify and loved them. To hear them come alive with the set, actors, costumes and choreography was SO FUN, SO CLEVER!! My fam and I have been reminiscing for days. We will definitely see it again!!
This was my fourth time seeing The Book of Mormon and it does not get old. The theater was packed and the audience was having a great time. I don't know what the laugh count was but it was very high. This cast, especially Diego Enrico, who is making his professional debut playing Elder Cunningham, was simply spectacular. Sam McLellan's (Elder Price) "I Believe"was practically a show stopper. Debuting just 14 years ago in 2011, the show, like Les Miz, Cabaret etc, has become a circuit favorite. It came to town with perfect timing when, we all need a good laugh. It can be seen time and again because there are always bits we forget like Dalmer in the "Spooky Mormon Hell Dream"sequence ... I almost fell out of my chair seeing it again. It has left San Diego, but when it comes back, don't miss it!
